A Thematic Review of Hiking Activities and Rehabilitation
Hiking trend nowadays is on the rise. With an increasing awareness of the benefits of outdoor activities for physical and mental health, more people are turning to hiking to stay active, reduce stress, and connect with nature. However, there has been a dearth of research into the interplay between hiking and rehabilitation. Articles published in English between 1968 and 2021 that studied the impact of hiking and rehabilitation were searched using the Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus databases. This review used ATLAS.ti 23 to synthesise data from 14 scholarly articles about the effects of hiking and rehabilitation. The reviewers found 85 unique codes to describe these effects and grouped into 10 code groups and four themes: health, job, sport, and other related outcomes. The findings revealed patterns and trends on the effects of hiking activities on rehabilitation. This research contributes to future studies by analysing patterns and trends that may encourage and drive future studies in hiking activities and rehabilitation
Virtual Reality in Education: An Investigation of its Effectiveness in Enhancing Learning Outcomes in Higher Education
Background: Virtual reality (VR) technology has gained increasing attention for its potential to enhance teaching and learning through immersive and experiential simulations. However, research on its impact in higher education contexts remains limited.
Objective: This study aimed to investigate the influence of VR-based learning on student learning outcomes and explore student attitudes toward VR technology compared to traditional instruction.
Methods: A quasi-experimental design was utilized with 60 higher education students randomly assigned to a VR group (n=30) or control group (n=30). The VR group learned through immersive VR simulations while the control group received traditional teaching. Pretest-posttest assessments measured learning outcomes. Surveys evaluated student attitudes and experiences.
Results: The VR group showed substantially greater gains on posttest performance versus the control group (p<0.001). Surveys revealed positive student attitudes toward VR technology, with most finding it effective, engaging, and enjoyable. However, some students reported challenges navigating VR.
Conclusion: VR-based learning appears to significantly enhance higher education students\u27 learning outcomes and foster positive perceptions compared to traditional instruction alone. However, optimal integration requires addressing accessibility barriers and aligning VR with pedagogical goals. Further research should investigate long-term impacts, ideal design features, and effective implementation strategies
Effect of Parental Resilience on Self Esteem
Parental resilience is the ability to gainfully cope with and bounce back from all types of challenges. Parental psychological well being and self –efficacy, family functioning and social connectedness are playing an important role in parent’s ability to deliver high quality parenting. In addition to these factors, how parent accommodate adversity and find meaning to their everyday life is an important process to understand parental resilience, Payne and Denny et al. (2015). Based on this background researcher attempts to examine the effect of parental resilience on self esteem of adolescent. The self constructed scale of parental resilience was administered. Result of the study revealed that demographic characteristics like education, occupation and income showed significant association with parental resilience. Significant positive correlation was found between resilience of mother and father. Highest percentage of adolescents possesses average range of self esteem. Resilient approaches of fathers and mothers throughout the journey of parenthood found to have a positive relationship with self esteem of adolescents. Two aspects of parental resilience namely problem solving and positive attitude have prominent positive effect on self esteem of adolescents, so based on the scores of these two aspects of parental resilience, the self esteem score of the adolescent can be predicted for a new adolescent sample
Innovations In B-Cell Epitope Prediction: A Review Of Machine Learning Techniques And Their Performance
Accurate prediction of conformational B-cell epitopes could play a transformative role in disease diagnosis, drug discovery, and vaccine development. Numerous computational approaches, many leveraging machine learning techniques, have been developed to tackle this challenging problem. This study conducts a comprehensive review of B-cell epitope prediction web servers, encompassing both machine learning and specialized approaches, using data from a unique dataset. The review findings indicate that overall performance remains suboptimal, with some methods performing no better than randomly generated patches of surface residues. These insights underscore the need for advanced evaluation methods in future studies, advise caution in relying on these tools until current limitations are addressed, and highlight potential new strategies for improving the prediction accuracy of conformational B-cell epitope prediction methods

Impact of Aerobic vs. Resistance Exercise on Blood Biomarkers and Body Composition in Obese Adults
Obesity is a major health concern that contributes to various metabolic disorders, including cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. Aerobic and resistance training exercise intervention has been found to enhance body fat and metabolic health. This study was an RCT involving 120 overweight men and women (BMI ≥ 30) who were randomly allocated to an aerobic exercise group, a resistance exercise group, or a control group. The exercise groups performed 12 weeks of supervised training with aerobic exercise aimed at cardiovascular endurance and resistance training aimed at muscular strength and body composition. Biochemical assays and Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) were used to determine fasting glucose, cholesterol levels, C-reactive protein (CRP), fat mass, lean mass, and BMI before and after the intervention. Lipid profile changes were also observed where both exercise groups had a significant decrease in total cholesterol and triglycerides and a significant increase in HDL cholesterol (p < 0.05). The levels of CRP, which is an inflammation marker, were reduced in both exercise groups. The results from body composition analysis showed that both the groups had a decrease in fat mass and an increase in lean mass the aerobic group had a slightly more pronounced decrease in fat mass (p = 0.001). The control group did not record any changes. Based on the evidence obtained from aerobic and resistance exercises, it was found that these exercises have an added benefit and should be part of obesity treatment procedures
