The taking of possession of the tax farm (quèstia) of the Jewish aljamas of Falset and Móra (1443)
Get PDFLa percepció de la quèstia dels jueus de les aljames de Falset i Móra va passar dels comtes de Prades als vescomtes d’Illa i de Canet arran del matrimoni dels fills d’aquestes dues cases nobiliàries. El traspàs es va fer efectiu el 1443 en dos actes protocol·laris de presa de possessió, un a Falset i l’altre a Móra, en els quals es van llistar els caps de família de les dues aljames jueves. El present article analitza aquest document a la llum de la resta de dades conegudes d’aquestes dues comunitats en el segle XV.The right to collect the quèstia tax from the Jews of the aljamas (a term used to designate self-governing communities of Moors and Jews living under Spanish rule) of Falset and Móra was transferred from the Counts of Prades to the Viscounts of Illa and Canet following a marriage between members of the two noble houses. The transfer was implemented in 1443 through two notarial acts, one drawn up in Falset and the other in Móra, which listed the heads of the families of the two Jewish aljamas. This article analyses those documents in the light of the other information known about the two communities in the 15th century

S’analitzen les diverses casuístiques i tipologies dels voluntaris, procedències, periodificació, i la pluralitat de regiments i fronts de guerra en què van combatre. També dedica una especial atenció als joves d’aquella generació, així com al destí divers dels presoners de guerra, l’experiència bèl·lica, i al procés de recuperació historiogràfica d’aquests combatents que van ser relegats a la invisibilitat en els inicis de la Guerra Freda.The article is the result of an in-depth investigation about the republican soldiers who fought in the Second World War in the French army. It analyses the different types of volunteers, origins, period of time and reasons for enlistments, and shows the plurality of regiments and fronts in which they fought. It also places special emphasis on the young people of that generation, the diverse fate of the prisoners of war and the experience of war. It also shows the process of historical recovery of these combatants, relegated to invisibility at the beginning of the Cold War
The last professional metamorphosis of a cultural factotum of Francoism: Ignacio Agustí Peypoch and the Spain of the sixties (1958-1970)
Get PDFL’article analitza la darrera etapa professional que va iniciar l’escriptor i periodista Ignacio Agustí Peypoch (Lliçà de Vall, 1913 - Barcelona, 1974) després de vendre les seves accions de la revista Destino, l’agost de 1957. Després d’un llarg litigi amb Josep Vergés per la propietat del setmanari nascut durant la Guerra Civil, Agustí va reprendre la professió periodística a la premsa oficial del Movimiento (Pueblo, El Español), apostant després per importants empreses de comunicació a recer del capital de l’empresari Jaime Castell Lastortras, com per exemple Tele/eXprés i Tele/estel. Paral·lelament, va encetar una col·laboració setmanal a la revista Triunfo. Tot això a l’empara de l’estela del flamant ministre d’Informació i Turisme, Manuel Fraga Iribarne, encarregat de reorientar l’entorn informatiu i propagandístic de la dictadura durant els anys seixanta. En paral·lel a aquestes iniciatives, s’esdevenia la crisi del sistema cultural del règim franquista, en un escenari de canvis substancials en la vida sociocultural del país.This article focuses on analyzing the last professional stage that the writer and journalist Ignacio Agustí Peypoch (Lliçà de Vall, 1913 - Barcelona, 1974) began in the press after selling his shares of the magazine Destino, in August 1957. After a long lawsuit with Josep Vergés for the ownership of the weekly founded during the CivilWar, Agustí resumed the journalistic profession in the official press of the Movimiento (Pueblo, El Español), then laying his hopes on important communication companies sheltered under the capital of the businessman Jaime Castell Lastortras, such as Tele/eXprés and Tele/estel. At the same time, he began a weekly collaboration with the magazine Triunfo. All this in the wake of the brand-new Minister of Information and Tourism, Manuel Fraga Iribarne, in charge of reorienting the informative and propaganda environment of the dictatorship during the sixties. At the same time, the crisis of the cultural system of the Franco regime took place, in a scenario of substantial changes in the sociocultural life of the country

Get PDFEn aquest treball comparem un conjunt de paraules que apareixen als llibres de text de l’àmbit de les ciències de la Terra i del medi ambient, publicats entre 2015 i 2025 per les principals editorials de material didàctic de Catalunya, tant de primària com d’educació secundària obligatòria, i els diccionaris (per a més detall, vegeu Estopà, 2025, en aquest mateix monogràfic). Concretament, ens centrem en les paraules que apareixen als llibres de text i, tanmateix, són absents dels diccionaris, tant del diccionari normatiu de l’Institut d’Estudis Catalans com del diccionari escolar d’Enciclopèdia Catalana, el DIDAC. En aquest context, presentem una breu anàlisi dels motius que expliquen aquests buits, que tant es deuen a criteris de política lexicogràfica com al nivell d’especialització.Our analysis compares a set of terms found in earth and environmental science textbooks (published between 2015 and 2025 by the main educational publishers in Catalonia) with their presence or absence in Catalan dictionaries (see Estopà, 2025, in this issue). The study includes materials used in both primary and compulsory secondary education. We specifically focus on words that appear in textbooks but are not included in either the normative dictionary of the Institut d’Estudis Catalans or the DIDAC school dictionary, published by the group Enciclopèdia Catalana. Also presented is a brief analysis of the factors behind these lexical gaps, which can be explained by lexicographic decisions as well as by the level of specialization of the terms
Isaiah 10:18 in the light of an Ammonite seal from the 7th century BC. A study of the translations of the biblical word nss and its extrabiblical tradition
Get PDFL’objectiu d’aquesta investigació és analitzar les traduccions vàries que es proposen per al possible hàpax bíblic nosēs (נֹסֵס), testimoniat únicament en el versicle d’Isaïes 10, 18. Aquest mot pertany al grup de paraules bíbliques de significat variat, atès que les metàfrasis –a causa de la tardana vocalització masorètica de l’hebreu bíblic– resten tot sovint en una forta ambigüitat. En el cas d’aquest participi bíblic poˁlel (nosēs, נֺסֵס), se’n destriaran els possibles orígens etimològics, bo i comparant-lo amb un testimoni extrabíblic del terme, conservat en un segell ammonita del segle VII aC. S’hi oferirà també un estudi històrico-comparatiu d’aquesta arrel nss amb relació a les altres llengües semítiques. Quant a la interpretació bíblica d’Is 10, 18, s’usaran les traduccions de Bíblies diverses a fi de fer-ne una anàlisi comparativa. Per concloure, es dreçarà l’atenció vers les traduccions bíbliques traslladades directament del text hebreu, fet que podria deixar entreveure com els erudits jueus que tradueixen coneixent el sentit hebreu, farien quòrum en proposar una mateixa accepció per al mot.
The aim of this research is to analyse the various translations proposed for nosēs ( נסֵֹס ), a possible biblical hapax given that its sole appearance is in Isaiah 10:18. This word belongs to a group of biblical roots whose meanings vary, something attributable to the often highly ambiguous nature of metaphrases (a result, in turn, of the late vocalization of the Hebrew Bible). Here, the possible etymological origins of the poˁlel participle nosēs ( נסֵֺס ) will be investigated through analysis of the extra-biblical use of the term in an Ammonite seal from the 7th century BC, and through a historical and comparative study of the verbal root nss in other Semitic languages. As far as the biblical interpretation of Isaiah 10:18 is concerned, a comparative analysis of the translations given in different Bibles will be undertaken. To conclude, attention will be drawn to biblical translations rendered directly from the Hebrew text, with the aim of shedding light on how Jewish scholars translating with knowledge of the Hebrew meaning might have come to agree on the same interpretation of the word
