Prototipos de papel: el mérito extra de un enfoque multi-método
No full textIn diesem Artikel wird ein multi-methodischer Ansatz beschrieben, der Paper Prototyping mit zwei zusätzlichen Methoden kombiniert, dem Advanced Scribbling und einem Handicraft Task. Beim Advanced Scribbling [erweitertes, fortgeschrittenes Kritzeln] werden die Untersuchungsteilnehmer/innen instruiert, wichtige, überflüssige und verwirrende Elemente eines Papier-Prototypen mit jeweils unterschiedlichen Farben zu markieren. Für das Handicraft Task [Bastelaufgabe] sollen sie ihre eigene Wunschversion als Papier-Prototyp anfertigen. Beide Methoden liefern zusätzliche Informationen über die Bedürfnisse und Erwartungen der potenziellen Endnutzer/innen und bieten hilfreiche Indikatoren zur Klärung von komplexen oder widersprüchlichen Ergebnissen. Der multi-methodische Ansatz und sein zusätzlicher Mehrwert werden anhand einer Pilot-Studie zur Neugestaltung der Homepage einer modernen Bibliothek (Library 2.0) illustriert. Die Ergebnisse stützen die praktische Anwendbarkeit des Advanced Scribblings und des Handicraft Tasks und liefern zudem positive Evidenz für den Mehrwert des multi-methodischen Ansatzes. The approach combines paper prototyping and think-aloud with two supplemental methods: advanced scribbling and a handicraft task. The method of advanced scribbling instructs the participants to use different colors for marking important, unnecessary and confusing elements in a paper prototype. In the handicraft task the participants have to tinker a paper prototype of their wish version. Both methods deliver additional information on the needs and expectations of the potential users and provide helpful indicators for clarifying complex or contradictory findings. The multi-method approach and its surplus benefit are illustrated by a pilot study on the redesign of the homepage of a library 2.0. The findings provide positive evidence for the applicability of the advanced scribbling and the handicraft task as well as for the surplus merit of the multi-method approach. El enfoque combina la creación de prototipos de papel y el pensar en voz alta con dos métodos complementarios: garabateo avanzado y una tarea a mano. El método de garabateo avanzado instruye a los participantes a utilizar diferentes colores para marcar los elementos importantes, innecesarios y confusos en un prototipo de papel. En la tarea a mano los participantes tienen que retocar un prototipo de papel de su versión deseada. Ambos métodos proporcionan información adicional sobre las necesidades y expectativas de los usuarios potenciales y proporcionan indicadores útiles para clarificar hallazgos complejos o contradictorios. El enfoque multi-método y su mérito extra se ilustran mediante un estudio piloto en el rediseño de la página principal de una biblioteca 2.0. Los resultados proporcionan evidencia positiva para la aplicabilidad del garabateo avanzado y la tarea a mano, así como para el mérito extra del enfoque multi-método. Resignificación de la experiencia de vida en adultos mayores afectados por tres tipos de desastre en Chile
Get PDFIn diesem Beitrag befassen wir uns mit der Analyse krisenhafter Lebensumstände für ältere Menschen. Wir gehen dabei davon aus, dass diese Umstände eine Umbewertung von Lebenserfahrungen aufseiten dieser Personengruppe nach sich ziehen, d.h. wir verstehen "Umbewertung" als einen Prozess, Lebensweisen nach Krisen neu auszurichten. Mittels einer inhaltsanalytischen Herangehensweise und unter Nutzung der Methode des ständigen Vergleichens haben wir die Erzählungen älterer Menschen mit Blick auf drei Arten von Naturkatastrophen untersucht: Umweltverschmutzung, Erdbeben und Vulkanausbrüche. We do this with the understanding that these types of events promote a re-signification of life experiences in this population. For the purposes of this study “re-signification” refers to a process of reassessing the ways of living as a response to a crisis. Through a content analysis and the constant comparative method, we analyzed the narratives of older adults affected by three kinds of disasters: environmental pollution, earthquake, and volcanic eruption. El método de matriz visual: imaginería e impacto en el marco de una investigación grupal
No full textDie visuelle Matrix ist ein Verfahren zur Untersuchung geteilter Erfahrungen, ausgelöst durch sensorisches Material, das für die interessierende Forschungsfrage relevant ist. Ausschlaggebend sind Symbolik, Visualisierung und Affekte, denen in diesem Zusammenhang größeres Gewicht beigemessen wird als diskursiven Annäherungen: Die Methode erlaubt die Symbolisierung imaginativer und emotionaler Anteile, die andernfalls nicht artikuliert würden, und durch sie können "ungedachte" Dimensionen von Erfahrung innerhalb eines partizipativen Settings ins Bewusstsein gerückt werden.In diesem Beitrag beschreiben wir den Prozess des Arbeitens mit der Matrix mit Bezug auf die Studie "Public Art and Civic Engagement" (FROGGETT, MANLEY, ROY, PRIOR & DOHERTY 2014), in der sie entwickelt und geprüft wurde. Beispiele für ihre Nutzung auch in anderen Kontexten werden gegeben. Sowohl die Matrix-Exposition als auch folgende Diskussionen werden skizziert, ebenso der anschließende interpretative Prozess. Weiter wird auch die theoretische Einbettung des Verfahrens beschrieben: seine Herkunft aus dem Konzept des sozialen Träumens, der atemporale und assoziative Charakter des Denkens unter Bezugnahme auf DELEUZEs Konzept des Rhizoms und die hermeneutische Analyse, die auf die Theorie der Objektbeziehungen und LORENZERs Konzept des szenischen Verstehens rückgreift.Die Matrix wurde als "szenisches Rhizom" konzeptualisiert wegen ihrer distinkten Qualität und ihrer hybriden Herkunft aus der Forschungspraxis. Das szenische Rhizom ist etwas "Drittes" neben den Teilnehmenden und den "Gegenständen" der Betrachtung. It is led by imagery, visualization and affect, which in the matrix take precedence over discourse. The method enables the symbolization of imaginative and emotional material, which might not otherwise be articulated and allows "unthought" dimensions of experience to emerge into consciousness in a participatory setting. We describe the process of the matrix with reference to the study "Public Art and Civic Engagement" (FROGGETT, MANLEY, ROY, PRIOR & DOHERTY, 2014) in which it was developed and tested. Subsequently, examples of its use in other contexts are provided. Both the matrix and post-matrix discussions are described, as is the interpretive process that follows. Theoretical sources are highlighted: its origins in social dreaming; the atemporal, associative nature of the thinking during and after the matrix which we describe through the Deleuzian idea of the rhizome; and the hermeneutic analysis which draws from object relations theory and the Lorenzerian tradition of scenic understanding.The matrix has been conceptualized as a "scenic rhizome" to account for its distinctive quality and hybrid origins in research practice. The scenic rhizome operates as a "third" between participants and the "objects" of contemplation. Praktikanz como una dimensión meta en la investigación aplicada
No full textAnwendungsorientierte Forschung sieht sich mit der doppelten Herausforderung konfrontiert, dass Innovationen nicht nur entwickelt, sondern auch implementiert, also erfolgreich zur Anwendung gebracht werden sollen. Die Technikakzeptanzforschung und beteiligungsorientierten Ansätze konzentrieren sich in diesem Zusammenhang primär auf Aspekte der Akzeptanz durch die Anwender_innen, der Bedienungsfreundlichkeit der Systeme und der Innovationsförderlichkeit der organisatorischen Rahmenbedingungen.Auf der Basis von Erfahrungen in einem Projekt zur Entwicklung digitaler Lern- und Wissenssysteme schlagen wir mit "Praktikanz" eine ergänzende Zieldimension vor, mit der die Anschlussfähigkeit der Innovation an die in ihrem Anwendungsfeld etablierten Routinen und Praxen bezeichnet werden soll. Mit dieser Perspektivenerweiterung ist gleichzeitig das Plädoyer verbunden, die unmittelbare Nutzungspraxis in der anwendungsorientierten Forschung noch stärker in den Fokus zu rücken und diese als eigentliche Arena der Bewährung für innovative Verfahren, Anwendungen und Produkte zu begreifen.URN: http://nbn-resolving.de/urn:nbn:de:0114-fqs150396Applied research is confronted with a twofold challenge: the necessity to develop innovative procedures, applications, and products, and the need to implement these in practice. In reference to a project, in which we developed digital learning and digital knowledge systems, we suggest a complementary target dimension, the Praktikanz ["making something practicable"] of such systems. This entails taking into account the compatibility of innovations and established routines and practices in the respective field of application. En referencia a un proyecto, en el que se desarrolló el aprendizaje digital y los sistemas de conocimientos digitales, sugerimos una dimensión meta complementaria, el Praktikanz ["hacer algo factible"] de tales sistemas. Narrativas de vida, idioma común y diversas formas de pertenencia
No full textIn diesem Beitrag diskutiere ich meine Erfahrungen des allmählichen Eintauchens in die Community in Australien lebender polnischer Migrant/innen, welcher ich beigetreten bin, als ich dort die Lebensgeschichten polnisch-stämmiger Autorinnen der Nachkriegszeit untersuchte. Ich zeige, wie sich meine Annahmen hinsichtlich der Gemeinsamkeiten von Kultur und Sprache während meiner Forschungsbegegnung mit den Autorinnen gewandelt haben: Zunächst nahm ich an, dass die Tatsache, dass ich dieselbe Sprache sprach wie die untersuchten Autorinnen, mich in die Lage versetzen würde, dasselbe kulturelle Wissen zu teilen und dadurch einen unmittelbaren Zugang zu den Forschungsteilnehmerinnen zu gewinnen. Die Sprache, so stellte es sich für mich heraus, markiert aber eher die Vielfalt statt der Einheitlichkeit von Erfahrungen, Positionierungen und gedanklichen Welten. Die Kategorie des Geschlechts, die ich zunächst als fluide und instabile Kategorie verstand, ersetzte jedoch die Sprache in ihrer Funktion eines Bindeglieds zwischen mir als Forscherin und meinen Forschungsteilnehmerinnen. Die Beispiele aus meiner Studie illustrieren, dass die Forschung zur Diaspora die Multiplizität der Identitätsmarker beachten muss, die die Forscher/innen diesseits und jenseits der Diaspora positionieren. Mein Beitrag basiert auf einer Vielzahl an Datenmaterial, einschließlich Feldnotizen, Feldtagebüchern und Interviews mit polnischen Autorinnen sowie Sekundärliteratur über Pol/innen und Australier/innen polnischer Abstammung in Australien.URN: http://nbn-resolving.de/urn:nbn:de:0114-fqs1502165The article discusses my experiences of gradual immersion into the community of Polish migrants to Australia, which I joined while researching life writing of Polish post-war women migrants to Australia. I focus on how my assumptions concerning commonality of culture and language transformed during the preliminary stages of my research. I initially assumed that speaking the same language as the writers whose works I study, and their ethnic community, would position me as a person sharing the same cultural knowledge, and allow me immediate access to research participants. Yet, the language I considered to be the major marker of ethnic identity exhibited multiplicity instead of unity of experiences, positions and conceptual worlds. Instead, gender, which I had considered a fluid and unstable category highly context-dependent especially in the migration framework, proved to be an important element of interaction and communication between myself and my research participants. I have learnt that it is critical for research on diaspora, including diaspora's literary cultures, to account for other identity markers that include me as a researcher into some Polish community groups while excluding from others. I base my contribution on various kinds of materials, including field notes, fieldwork diaries and interviews with Polish writers as well as secondary literature on Poles and Australians of Polish extraction in Australia.URN: http://nbn-resolving.de/urn:nbn:de:0114-fqs1502165El artículo discute mis experiencias de inmersión gradual en la comunidad de inmigrantes polacos a Australia, a la que me uní mientras investigaba la escritura vida de las mujeres polacas de posguerra migrantes a Australia. Me concentro en cómo mis supuestos relativos a la comunidad de cultura e idioma se transformaron durante las etapas preliminares de mi investigación. Inicialmente asumí que el hecho de compartir el mismo idioma que los escritores cuyas obras estudio, y su comunidad étnica, me posicionarían como una persona que comparte el mismo conocimiento cultural, y me permitiría el acceso inmediato a los participantes de la investigación. Sin embargo, el lenguaje que yo consideraba como el principal marcador de la identidad étnica exhibió multiplicidad en lugar de la unidad de experiencias, posiciones y mundos conceptuales. En cambio, el género, que yo había considerado una categoría fluida, inestable y altamente dependiente del contexto particular en el marco de la migración, ha demostrado ser un elemento importante de la interacción y la comunicación entre mi persona y mis participantes en la investigación. He aprendido que es crítica para la investigación sobre la diáspora, incluyendo las culturas literarias de la diáspora, para dar cuenta de otros marcadores de identidad que me incluyen como investigadora en algunos grupos de la comunidad polaca, excluyendo a los demás. No full textInternational ist für viele Universitäten eine vermehrte Anstrengung zu verzeichnen, Curricula und Lehr- und Campusaktivitäten so voranzutreiben, dass sie die Diversität studentischer Perspektiven und Lebenswelten abbilden. Hierzu gehört oft der Versuch, indigenes Wissen im Universitätssetting angemessen zu berücksichtigen. Werden indigene Perspektiven integriert, entstehen auch neue Möglichkeiten einer Revision traditioneller qualitativer Lehr- und Lernstrategien. Allerdings existieren bisher nur wenige Ressourcen, die helfen, diese im Grundstudium zu verankern. Ich nutze deshalb kanadische Beispiele um zu veranschaulichen, in welcher Weise der Einbezug indigener Methoden, Perspektiven und Epistemologien – insbesondere im Zuge Community-basierten Lernens und von partizipativen Forschungsprojekten – helfen kann, qualitative Lehr- und Lernmethoden kritisch fortzuentwickeln.URN: http://nbn-resolving.de/urn:nbn:de:0114-fqs150347Many universities internationally now make concerted efforts to promote curriculum development and classroom and campus cultures that recognize diversity in student viewpoints and life experiences. Increasingly, these efforts have involved promoting recognition and inclusion of indigenous knowledges in the university setting. If adopted in the classroom, the promotion of indigenous perspectives suggests exciting possibilities for teaching qualitative research critically. Existing educational resources, however, offer little guidance on achieving this through undergraduate qualitative methods teaching. Investigación cualitativa hacia la experiencia estética. Consideraciones teóricas y enfoques metodológicos usando los ejemplos de investigación en educación cultural
No full textKulturelle Bildung stellt sich heute die Aufgabe, ästhetische Erfahrungen bei ihrer jeweiligen Zielgruppe anzuregen. Wie aber können solche Erfahrungen zum Gegenstand empirischer Forschung gemacht werden? In diesem Beitrag werden zunächst einige grundlegende Theoriemomente ästhetischer Erfahrungen beschrieben und in ihrer Bedeutung für die empirischen Erforschung beleuchtet. Anschließend wird die Angemessenheit qualitativer Verfahren auf dem Forschungsgebiet herausgearbeitet. Bisherige qualitative Forschungsarbeiten bieten hinsichtlich des methodischen Zugangs zu ästhetischen Erfahrungen wertvolle Orientierung. So dienen einerseits sprachliche Äußerungen und andererseits künstlerische Gestaltungsprodukte als Dokumente. Anhand einer Grounded-Theory-Studie wird schließlich gezeigt, wie beide Zugänge im Rahmen eines musikpädagogischen Forschungsprojekts kombiniert wurden. Die Darstellung wesentlicher Ergebnisse gibt einen Überblick über die Facetten ästhetischer Erfahrungen in konkreten Bildungsangeboten, hier: verschiedenen Kompositionsprojekten mit Schülerinnen und Schülern. But how can these experiences become the object of empirical research? In this article, I describe a number of fundamental theoretical aspects of aesthetic experiences and their significance in the field of empirical research. The adequacy of this research on aesthetic experiences is examined. It can be shown that previous research provides helpful methodological orientations and that verbal expressions as well as artistic products can function as research material. Using a grounded theory approach, I point out how both expressions and products could be combined productively within a research project in music education. The results provide instances of aesthetic experience in specific educational settings; i.e., different projects in which students create music compositions. En este artículo, describo una serie de aspectos teóricos fundamentales de experiencias estéticas y su importancia en el campo de la investigación empírica. Se examina la idoneidad de esta investigación en experiencias estéticas. Se puede demostrar que investigaciones anteriores brindan orientaciones metodológicas útiles, y que las expresiones verbales, tanto como los productos artísticos, pueden funcionar como material de investigación. Utilizando un enfoque de teoría fundamentada, señalo cómo ambas expresiones y productos pueden ser combinados de forma productiva dentro de un proyecto de investigación en educación musical. Un análisis cualitativo de contenido asistido por software de artículos periodísticos: ejemplo y reflexiones
No full textIn diesem Beitrag zeigen wir Schritt für Schritt, wie qualitative Software für die Inhaltsanalyse von Zeitungsartikeln genutzt werden kann. Wir illustrieren exemplarisch, in welcher Weise die Verwendung von NVivo die analytische Flexibilität unterstützen und die Transparenz und Vertrauenswürdigkeit des qualitativen Forschungsprozesses verbessern kann. Nach einer kurzen Diskussion einiger Grundcharakteristika und der Vor- und Nachteile von qualitativen Softwarepaketen beschreiben wir die inhaltsanalytische Arbeit an 230 Zeitungsartikeln, die sich mit der internationalen Medienrezeption der neuseeländischen Umweltpolitik und spezifischer mit Fragen des Klimawandels und der Kohlendioxid-Emission befassen. Wir schlagen hierzu einen Mehrebenen-Ansatz im Analyseverlauf vor, bei dem quantitative und qualitative Elemente zum Einsatz kommen, die Forschenden erlauben, sich flexibel zwischen Kodierprozeduren und analytischer Verallgemeinerung zu bewegen. Wir schließen mit kurzen Ausführungen dazu, dass qualitative Analysesoftware wie NVivo zwar niemals die Auswertungsarbeit für die Forschenden übernehmen kann, dass sie aber hilft, Forschung zu flexibilisieren und transparenter und verlässlicher zu machen.URN: http://nbn-resolving.de/urn:nbn:de:0114-fqs150283This article offers a step-by-step description of how qualitative data analysis software can be used for a qualitative content analysis of newspaper articles. Using NVivo as an example, it illustrates how software tools can facilitate analytical flexibility and how they can enhance transparency and trustworthiness of the qualitative research process. Following a brief discussion of the key characteristics, advantages and limitations of qualitative data analysis software, the article describes a qualitative content analysis of 230 newspaper articles, conducted to determine international media perceptions of New Zealand's environmental performance in connection with climate change and carbon emissions. The article proposes a multi-level coding approach during the analysis of news texts that combines quantitative and qualitative elements, allowing the researcher to move back and forth in coding and between analytical levels. No full textMit der fortschreitenden Internationalisierung werden Forschungssettings und die Kontexte der Forschenden zunehmend komplex; disziplinäre Annahmen, Traditionen und Verfahren komplizieren sich. In diesem Beitrag behandeln wir praktische und konzeptuelle Themen, die im Verlauf des Planens und Durchführens der Feldarbeit sowie während der nachfolgenden Analyse und Niederschrift einer qualitativen Studie virulent wurden, die in einem konfuzianischen Setting angesiedelt war. Rückgreifend auf Erfahrungen aus der detaillierten Untersuchung eines Pay-for-Performance-Schemas (und auf 31 Interviews, die von einem südkoreanischen Forscher durchgeführt wurden), befassen wir uns mit Fragen, die mit dem Kontrast zwischen der Nutzung anglophoner Verfahren einerseits in einem Land mit konfuzianischen Erbe andererseits einhergehen. Wir diskutieren Schwierigkeiten, die aus Sampling-Verfahren, ethischen Belangen und Feldarbeit (inkl. Insider-Beziehungen, Machthierarchien und Sprache/Übersetzungsanforderungen) in solchen Settings erwachsen. This article highlights key practical and conceptual issues that arose during planning fieldwork, fieldwork conduct, subsequent analysis and writing up of a qualitative study carried out within a Confucian setting. Drawing on the experience with a detailed research study of a pay for performance scheme (involving 31 in-depth interviews undertaken by a South Korean researcher), this article explores conceptual and practical issues that emerged between Anglophone methods and countries with a Confucian heritage. It is discussed how processes of sampling/recruitment, ethics, fieldwork conduct (including insider relations, power hierarchies, and translation) are complicated in such settings. Basándose en la experiencia de una detallada investigación de pago para un esquema de rendimiento (involucrando 31 entrevistas en profundidad realizadas por un investigador de Corea del Sur), este artículo explora cuestiones conceptuales y prácticas que surgieron entre los métodos anglófonos y los países con una herencia confuciana. Se discute cómo los procesos de muestreo/reclutamiento, ética, conducción del trabajo de campo (incluyendo las relaciones internas, las jerarquías de poder, y la traducción), se complican en tales escenarios.
