    As the second most populous country in the world India face a major problem in waste management. As of now there are traditional waste management systems like periodic and routine clearing by the various civic bodies like the municipal corporation. But even though these routine maintenances is carried out we often come across overflowing garbage bins from which the garbage spills on to the streets. This happens because as of now there is no system in place that can monitor the garbage bins and indicate the same to the corporation. In this project, we aim at an automatic garbage level detecting system informing the concerned authorities timely and also classification among the wastes aiding efficient waste management

    Improving Efficiency of a Solar Water Heater Using PCM

    One of the best devices which can be used to convert the solar energy into thermal energy is solar water heater (SWH). SWH applications mainly depend on efficient thermal energy storage system (TES). Thermal storage works like a thermal battery where, energy can be stored in the form of latent heat, sensible heat, or both. In this project, TES system with Phase Change Material (PCM) can be more concentration for SWH application, as they have high energy density compared with other materials which are used to store only sensible heat . Besides, it also improves the reliability and performance of the SWH system0. Phase Change Materials (PCM) seem to be one of the most best techniques that might lead to this high energy storage performance. A PCM is a material which stores or supplies heat at its melting/solidification temperature using its high thermal energy storage density per unit volume as a cause of its latent heat, which is higher than the sensible heat. It is possible to use the latent heat of solid-gas, solid-liquid and liquid-gas transformation, however, only the solid-liquid transformation is used due to its lower volume variation

    A Study of Load Carrying Capacity of cracked Weld Joint using Finite Element Analysis

    Static Stress and dynamic modal analysis gives   the idea for strength of the joints.  Any failure in the analysis is catastrophic to the functioning of the structure/machine.  This can be eliminated by proper stress and dynamic analysis.  Cracks will happen in the welds after certain cycles of working. The present study is to find the effect of crack on load carrying capacity of the joint and its stress behaviour in the junction. The results shows parabolic reduction of strength with the propagation of crack which indicates failure propagation is more with increased cracking.  Also stress behaviour across the cross section also changes with the crack propagation and results shows maximum concentration at the bottom region which is totally different from the full contact problem

    Object removal and region filling in image

    Sometimes people have been taken photographs, there has been the need to remove unwanted artefacts or damaged areas from these images. This is something previously conducted by experts, using computer tools and extensive user input to produce a visually realistic result. The difficulty of the problem lies in how to fill the missing regions, such that they are perceptually unnoticeable, whilst minimizing user input. Object removal and region filling algorithm proposed for removing unwanted objects from digital images. The challenge is to fill the hole that is left behind in visually plausible way. This problem has been addressed by two classes of algorithms: i) “Texture synthe-sis” for generating large image regions from sample textures, and ii) “In-painting” techniques for filling in small gaps. Each being used for images with different characteristics. This dissertation is concerned with investigating whether advances in texture synthesis techniques contain the necessary functionality to cross the divide between the two and successfully fill holes in a variety of images. The advantage of the proposed techniques is that it limits the amount of knowledge required by the user, and performs the region filling autonomously, once started

    Identification of Railway Track Using RFID Application

    Indian railway is 4th rank railway chain in the world. Due to this there are so many problems like collision, accidents, delay etc. are related to trains. To avoid these problems we used RFID application for identification of railway track and automatic track changer. In this setup ,we used RFID tags which are allocated at railway track and RFID reader attached in railway engine. Because of this, train follows its path perfectly with help of RFID reader which reads tags continuously on railway track. If route is appropriate then train perform continuously, in case route is wrong then train stop automatically and ‘WRONG PATH” information shows on LCD display located in train engine. The next advantage of our model is automatic track changer. When train reach at some distance before track changer that time track change automatically according to perfect route due to wireless communication. Our model is useful for perfect track identification and perfect track change

    In modern era the trend of 3D movies and 3D projection took a very intensive attention. Stereoscopic 3D images are elementarily obtained by overlapping left and right eye images in different color planes of a single image for successive viewing through colored glasses. Here we present a novel FPGA based reconfigurable architecture for 3D image color space conversion RGB to YCbCr for implementing real-time DSP applications using Xilinx System Generator (XSG) for MATLAB. The CSC design is implemented in hardware which is realized using the Xilinx Block Sets presented in Simulink. From the hardware software co-simulation block VHDL/Verilog code is generated and is tested on Atlys FPGA Spartan 6 (xc6slx45-2csg324)
