Denotation Shifts in New Coinages in Media Discourses on Politics
Get PDFThe Chapter traces instances of how the intensional content of words in political discourse can be manipulated. The analysis is conducted on a dataset specifically constructed for the purposes of this study; the dataset consists of commentaries from a Bulgarian radio talk show. A list of keywords from the talk show is extracted and the intensional content of the words in the list is investigated. Petofi’s representation of the lexicon item in discourse is employed to compare the referents and the meanings associated with the various occurrences of specific items in the dataset. The focus falls on (a) items’ meanings interpreted as representing intensional content, and (b) the way they are transferred from dictionary definitions and injected with components from other lexicon items. Get PDFThe article provides an analysis of a turning point from the most recent history of Bulgarian state institutions: the organized transfer of the archive of the Committee for State Security from the storage facilities of the Ministry of Interior to the new storage facility of the independent dossier Committee. This happened over the course of the 2010-2011 period. A special organization was established for this purpose, which includes senior and executive level officials. The complete organization and control efforts were assigned by the Ministry of Interior to the deputy minister Veselin Vuchkov, who is the author of this text. The text presents the primary reasons for this complex institutional effort, its social meaning, the practical difficulties involved therein, and the consequences over the short and long term. In parallel to this process, the historical police archive (for the period 1923 – 1944), which was created outside of the scope of the Committee for State Security, was also handed over in an organized manner; it was directed to the Archives State Agency with the Council of Ministers. The handover of these two archives from the Ministry of Interior to the respective departments ensures their use for research purposes, their reasonable preservation, and gradual digitalization

The focus is on the main challenges for the effectiveness of virtual structures at the organizational, team and individual levels. The multifaceted connections in the team structures through the prism of virtuality and geographical variance are studied. The goal is to find a common theoretical and methodological basis to identify the conceptual dimensions of team effectiveness in a virtual environment
Regional Competitiveness of Bulgarian Regions and their Place in the European Union
Get PDFChanges in the global economic environment in recent years have highlighted the fact that in many countries the sources of growth are not well utilized, thus highlighting the need for better measurement of economic performance, including critical elements to sustainable economic development. The EU Regional Competitiveness Index is the first multi-component indicator to provide a systematic picture of the territorial competitiveness of each region in the 28 (up to 2020) Member States of the Union. The paper briefly presents the methodological framework of the index and then it will be applied to the Bulgarian NUTS 2 regions. The results show the place of the country and its regions in the EU and allow us to draw conclusions about their strengths and weaknesses in their regional development in general, as well as in relation to the eleven main areas that the index measures

The new (integrative) e-leadership concepts, models and management strategies are analyzed in detail, focusing on the development of competencies (knowledge and skills) in the field of social relations and communication, trust building, new behavior and adapted management leadership to coordinate technologies and processes in a multicultural virtual environment
