Commento agli Alfonsi regis dicta aut facta memoratu digna di Antonio Panormita
Full text link[Italiano]: Il 22 aprile 1456 Enea Silvio Piccolomini (il futuro papa Pio II) completa il suo Commento agli Alfonsi regis dicta aut facta memoratu digna, che l’anno precedente (nei giorni immediatamente successivi al 26 agosto) aveva scritto Antonio Beccadelli, il Panormita, figura preminente della corte di Alfonso il Magnanimo, re d’Aragona e di Napoli, e organizzatore della sua “propaganda”. L’atmosfera era gravida di timori e di attese: il 29 maggio 1453, dopo un lungo assedio di Maometto II, Costantinopoli era caduta e re Alfonso aveva da poco promesso solennemente di guidare la crociata contro il Turco. Prendendo lo spunto da un testo ideologicamente strutturato, quale fu quello del Panormita, il Piccolomini volle non solo fare azione di pressione politica per la realizzazione di una crociata che rimase solo promessa, ma contribuire anche a dare sviluppo una nuova forma letteraria. Quella della narratio brevis di tipo faceto, che si stava ridefinendo in quegli anni, grazie non solo alle opere originali dei suoi contemporanei Poggio Bracciolini e Panormita, ma anche all’esempio illustre rinvenuto negli antichi greci che allora si stava riprendendo a tradurre (come Plutarco e Senofonte) e ai quali si attribuiva esemplare valenza politico-ideologica nella definizione delle virtù del perfetto principe./[English]: On April 22, 1456, Enea Silvio Piccolomini (the future Pope Pius II) completed his Commentary on Alfonsi regis dicta aut facta memoratu digna, which had been written the previous year (immediately following August 26) by Antonio Beccadelli, known as Panormita. Panormita was a prominent figure at the court of Alfonso the Magnanimous, King of Aragon and Naples, and a key organizer of his “propaganda.” The atmosphere was fraught with fears and expectations: on May 29, 1453, Constantinople had fallen after a long siege by Mehmed II, and King Alfonso had recently made a solemn promise to lead a crusade against the Turk.
Drawing inspiration from an ideologically structured text, such as that of Panormita, Piccolomini sought not only to exert political pressure for the realization of a crusade – which ultimately remained unfulfilled – but also to contribute to the development of a new literary form. This was the narratio brevis with a humorous tone, which was being redefined during those years. It evolved not only through the original works of contemporaries like Poggio Bracciolini and Panormita but also under the influence of illustrious examples found in ancient Greek authors (such as Plutarch and Xenophon), whose works were being retranslated at the time. Full text link[Italiano]: Giovangiuseppe Vannelli, Architect and PhD in Architecture, he is a researcher in Architectural and Urban Composition at the Department of Architecture, University of Naples ‘Federico II’. He has been focusing on the relationship between burial spaces and the contemporary city since 2017. He has conducted studies and research on this topic at the Université de Liège, Columbia University, the ‘Ion Mincu’ University of Architecture and Urban Planning and the École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Paris-Belleville. He has published essays and articles on cemetery space and as part of the research project ‘Rethinking lastscapes Perspectives’ he edited with others the publication ‘RlPoggioreale: Images and Imaginaries. Cemeteries and cities in comparison’ outcome of the exhibition ’RlPoggioreale. Tra immagini e immaginari' held at the Palazzo delle Arti di Napoli. His research interests concern the rethinking of heterotopic heritage, post-disaster projects and processes, and strategies for the reactivation of inner and marginal territories. Context, geography, time, obsolescence and reuse are some of the main keywords of the author's research./[English]: The book ‘From Heterotopia to Hypertopia. Rethinking the Space of Urban Cemeteries in the Contemporary City' addresses the relationship between heterotopic cities of the dead and the contemporary city. The morphological relationships and socio-cultural conditions that have led to the construction of urban cemeteries outside the city since the 19th century have changed profoundly, and this urgently calls for new questions and different postures. In accordance with the progressive changes in social structures and radical technical innovations, a profound transformation of rituals can be observed that puts inherited heritages and future planning at risk. Therefore, the design and rethinking of these parts of the city, their enhancement and re-signification, become imminent necessities for the regeneration of entire parts of the city. The book proposes hypertopia as a possible alternative to heterotopia, not understanding it as a replacement but rather as a possible objective to be pursued in the context of a typological shift that can be progressively experimented with by means of the project in order to update the norms and thus enrich the theoretical framework itself. In this sense, hypertopia is assumed as a political, temporal and - above all - spatial strategy. Several international case studies were investigated in the research to which this volume refers. In addition to the projects described through images and drawings in the chapter ‘The journey as a research tool: an atlas of images for parts of cities and architectures’, five case studies are explored in depth to substantiate the hypothesis that reuse, recycling and re-semantitisation are design strategies that should complement the more established constituent features and processes of growth and articulation of contemporary cemeteries. The three projects described in the final part of the book provide possible forms of the concept of hypertopia by proposing three strategies for the cemetery system of the Poggioreale hill in Naples
Organizzazione sanitaria italiana: ordinamento, storia e strutture
Full text link[Italiano]:In un tempo in cui il tema della salute pubblica si impone con forza crescente nel dibattito civile e scientifico, comprendere il funzionamento dell'organizzazione sanitaria italiana diventa un'esigenza non solo per chi lavora nel settore sanitario ma anche per chi vuole avvicinarsi a questi temi per motivi di studio, di interesse personale o semplice curiosità. Questo volume nasce pertanto con l'intento di offrire una visione organica dell'organizzazione sanitaria, con particolare attenzione al Ministero della Salute e al Servizio Sanitario Nazionale, ricostruendone l'evoluzione storica, normativa e istituzionale. L'opera si apre con una riflessione sui concetti fondanti di "salute" e "sanità", per poi analizzare la nascita e la progressiva evoluzione dell'organizzazione sanitaria italiana dai suoi albori sino ad oggi. Il secondo capitolo presenta un'analisi aggiornata e completa dell'organizzazione del Ministero della Salute, includendo anche un approfondimento sul Consiglio Superiore di Sanità e sull'Istituto Superiore di Sanità. Nel terzo capitolo sono, invece, ripercorse le tappe più significative del Servizio Sanitario Nazionale, dalla sua istituzione fino alle riforme più recenti che hanno interessato l'assistenza ospedaliera e territoriale. A conclusione del volume, si affronta la tematica dei Livelli Essenziali di Assistenza (LEA), che costituiscono l'asse portante del Servizio Sanitario e definiscono le garanzie riconosciute ai cittadini in materia di accesso alle cure. Con questa impostazione, si è voluto offrire al lettore un'opera orientata alla valorizzazione delle conoscenze e al loro impatto concreto nella società, con l'intento di coniugare sapere accademico e utilità pratica in un ambito, quello della sanità, che coinvolge da vicino la vita di tutti./[English]: At a time when the issue of public health is increasingly prominent in both civil and scientific debates, understanding the functioning of the Italian healthcare system becomes essential not only for those working in the healthcare sector, but also for those approaching these topics for reasons of study, personal interest, or simple curiosity.This volume is therefore intended to provide a comprehensive overview of the healthcare organization, with particular attention to the Ministry of Health and the National Health Service, tracing its historical, regulatory, and institutional evolution. The work opens with a reflection on the fundamental concepts of "health" and "healthcare," followed by an analysis of the origins and progressive development of the Italian healthcare system from its inception to the present day.
The second chapter presents an up-to-date and complete analysis of the organization of the Ministry of Health, including an in-depth look at the Higher Health Council and the National Institute of Health. The third chapter retraces the most significant stages of the National Health Service, from its establishment to the most recent reforms concerning hospital and territorial care. Full text link[Italiano]: Il presente volume contiene un’approfondita ricognizione effettuata tra i soci della Società Italiana Infrastrutture Viarie (S.I.I.V.), in merito allo stato della didattica e della ricerca riguardante le infrastrutture aeroportuali. La S.I.I.V. raccoglie i docenti e i ricercatori universitari del settore scientifico disciplinare 08/CEAR-03/A (già ICAR/04), le cui competenze, ai sensi della declaratoria di cui al D.M. 2/05/2024 n. 639, riguardano le teorie, i modelli, le tecniche e i processi per la concezione, la progettazione, la costruzione, l’adeguamento, la manutenzione e la gestione degli asset aeroportuali, sotto il profilo di funzionalità, prestazioni, sicurezza, sostenibilità, rischio, resilienza, impatto sull’ambiente e il territorio, efficacia sociale ed economica degli investimenti nel ciclo di vita, digitalizzazione e nuove tecnologie. Dalla sua fondazione e, ancor prima, coi singoli docenti, la S.I.I.V. si occupa, dunque, del sistema aeroporto, indagato nei suoi diversi aspetti, col proposito di contribuire alla conoscenza e allo sviluppo di un comparto strategico per l’economia nazionale. S.I.I.V. brings together university professors and researchers of the Scientific Disciplinary Sector 08/CEAR-03/A (formerly ICAR/04), whose competences, according to the declaration of Ministerial Decree 2/05/2024 no. 639, concern the theories, models, techniques, and processes for the conception, design, construction, adaptation, maintenance, and management of airport assets, with regard to functionality, performance, safety, sustainability, risk, resilience, environmental and territorial impact, social and economic effectiveness of investments over the life cycle, digitalization, and new technologies. Since its foundation—and even earlier through the work of individual academics—S.I.I.V. has been dedicated to the study of the airport system, analyzed in its various aspects, with the aim of contributing to the knowledge and development of a sector that is strategic for the national economy. With this volume, S.I.I.V. intends to disseminate, in a concise yet comprehensive manner, the contents of the teaching and research activities that it has institutionally carried out and continues to promote in this fundamental field. Saperi viventi : libri, relazioni e natura nel primo orientalismo cattolico
Full text link[Italiano]: Questo libro racconta come l’Europa cattolica della prima età moderna imparò un altro modo di pensare nel confronto, spesso diseguale, talvolta violento, con le culture che chiamava “orientali”, non solo attraverso relazioni inaspettate fra gli uomini, ma anche nel rapporto con animali, piante e oggetti. Dalle biblioteche di Venezia agli ospedali per animali in India, dagli eremi del Monte Libano alle carceri di Malta, Saperi viventi segue le tracce materiali di quegli apprendistati attraverso una serie di casi di studio, articolati in quattro capitoli intrecciati dedicati a libri, animali, piante e maestri: manoscritti saccheggiati, lezioni impartite da schiavi, erbari condivisi, esperimenti di traduzione tra fedi e lingue diverse. Ne emerge un primo orientalismo non come disciplina unitaria, ma come insieme di saperi precari, nati dentro una crisi politica e teologica. L’incontro con altri modi di abitare il mondo naturale diventa spazio di dominio e stupore: iconoclastie del vivente che abbattono e profanano, ma anche immagini di “mitezza orientale” che possono deridere o invitare a mutare. Da questi frammenti prende forma una conoscenza fragile ma viva, segnata dal conflitto e dal caso: non la marcia trionfante di un sapere che conquista, ma la cronaca minuta di un sapere che si lascia trasformare da ciò che tocca./[English]: This book traces how Catholic Europe in the early modern period learned another way of thinking through its encounters — often unequal and sometimes violent — with the cultures it called “Oriental.” Through a series of case studies, Living Knowledges reconstructs the fragile and material processes by which knowledge was produced across frontiers of faith, empire, and language. From the libraries of Venice to the animal hospitals of India, from the hermitages of Mount Lebanon to the prisons of Malta, the book follows the traces of these cross-cultural apprenticeships: looted books, lessons given by enslaved men, shared herbals, experiments in translation between different religious worlds. What emerges is an early modern Orientalism that was not yet a unified discipline but a constellation of unstable forms of knowledge, born within political and theological crisis. Encounters with other ways of inhabiting the natural world became spaces of domination and wonder, where iconoclasms of the living could destroy and desecrate, yet also inspire new images of curiosity and gentleness. Across its four intertwined chapters — on books, animals, plants, and masters — the book shows how knowledge about the “Orient” was not only a matter of representation but also a product of collaboration, dependence, and exchange. Full text link[Italiano]: I contributi raccolti in questo volume esplorano l’impatto delle Intelligenze Artificiali sull’insegnamento delle lingue e della storia antiche, con approccio critico e operativo insieme. La Parte Prima introduce le basi teoriche dell’IA e ne analizza potenzialità educative, limiti, rischi: sul piano generale, ponendo le basi per un uso didatticamente consapevole (S.V. Cuffari), e in relazione ai rischi per la traduzione di testi classici, elemento importante della didattica del mondo antico nella scuola italiana (G. Mosconi). La Parte Seconda propone esempi di utilizzo dell’IA nella didattica dell’antico: i chatbot per l’apprendimento personalizzato della storia antica (S.V. Cuffari); l’IA come strumento per guidare gli studenti nell’analisi contrastiva di traduzioni da testi classici (G. Cianfrocca); l’uso dell’IA per lo studio della storia controfattuale, palestra per ragionare sulla causalità storica (C. Caserta). Emerge una riflessione condivisa: l’IA non sostituisce il docente (non deve farlo), ma, se utilizzata in modo intelligente, ne può amplificare il ruolo di guida critica e facilitatore cognitivo./[English]: The essays in this book explore the impact of Artificial Intelligence on teaching ancient languages and history, adopting a theoretical and operational approach. Part One introduces the theoretical foundations of AI and analyzes its educational potential, limitations, and risks, both in general, laying the foundation for a mindful use of it (S.V. Cuffari), and in relation to threats to the translation of classical texts, which is an essential element of Classics teaching in the Italian educational tradition (G. Mosconi). Part Two offers some examples of the use of AI in Classics teaching: chatbots for personalized learning of ancient history (S.V. Cuffari); AI as a tool for guiding students in the contrastive analysis of translations from classical texts (G. Cianfrocca); the use of AI to enhance the study of counterfactual history, a training ground for reasoning on historical causality (C. Caserta). A shared reflection emerges: AI does not replace teachers (it must not), but, when used intelligently, it may amplify their role as a critical guide and cognitive facilitator

Full text link[Italiano]: Il testo illustra il lavoro svolto da docenti, dottorandi e studenti del Workshop di progettazione intensiva per l'a.a. 2024/2025 sull'Unité d'Habitation Transitoire di Le Corbusier. Attraverso un processo di sperimentazione e adattamento, gli studenti hanno sviluppato proposte architettoniche che rielaborano i singoli lotti concepiti da Le Corbusier. L'approccio progettuale mira a bilanciare densità, qualità degli spazi e sostenibilità, ponendo particolare attenzione alla relazione tra le unità residenziali e gli spazi condivisi. Il risultato è un insieme di progetti che esplorano nuovi modi di abitare, capaci di coniugare sperimentazione tipologica e vivibilità, nell'ottica di una città pensata come organismo dinamico, inclusivo e aperto./[English]: The publication presents the work conducted by faculty members, doctoral candidates, and students of the Intensive Design Workshop for the academic year 2024/2025 on Le Corbusier's Unité d'Habitation Transitoire. Through a process of experimentation and adaptation, students have developed architectural proposals that reinterpret the individual plots conceived by Le Corbusier. The design approach seeks to balance density, spatial quality, and sustainability, with particular attention to the relationship between residential units and shared spaces. Cibo e sostenibilità: approcci transdisciplinari fra passato, presente e futuro
Full text link[Italiano]: Il volume intende indagare il rapporto fra produzione di cibo, consumi alimentari e sostenibilità ambientale, nella più ampia varietà di approcci disciplinari, temi, contesti temporali e spaziali, in chiave locale e globale. I contributi qui raccolti, infatti, spaziano da questioni riguardanti le tecnologie alimentari e quelle di conservazione del cibo, agli aspetti economici del rapporto fra produzione alimentare e sostenibilità (toccando temi quali gli allevamenti intensivi, il social farming, l’agricoltura multifunzionale, le piccole aziende agricole) e, all’altro capo della filiera, il comportamento dei consumatori di fronte al problema della sostenibilità alimentare; dai problemi giuridici posti dal tema della sicurezza alimentare a quelli di carattere etico legati agli allevamenti intensivi, al consumo di carne e alle prospettive offerte dalla carne coltivata; dalla relazione fra eccesso dei consumi alimentari e guerra nel pensiero antico al rapporto fra trasformazione del cibo, sostenibilità e condizione femminile, fino alla riflessione sul tema dei consumi alimentari e della sostenibilità ricorrente nella cultura italiana fra ’800 e ’900 e nell’arte contemporanea./[English]: This book aims to investigate the relationship between food production, consumption, and environmental sustainability, across a wide range of disciplinary approaches, themes, temporal and spatial contexts, both locally and globally. The contributions gathered here, in fact, range from issues concerning food technologies and food preservation, to the economic aspects of the relationship between food production and sustainability (touching on topics such as intensive farming, social farming, multifunctional agriculture, and small farms) and, at the other end of the supply chain, consumer behavior when faced with the problem of food sustainability; from the legal issues posed by food safety to the ethical issues related to intensive farming, meat consumption, and the prospects offered by cultured meat; from the relationship between excessive food consumption and war in ancient thought to the relationship between food transformation, sustainability, and the female condition, up to the reflection on the theme of food consumption and sustainability recurring in Italian culture between the 19th and 20th centuries and in contemporary art

Full text link[Italiano]: A partire da tre storie indiziarie, che l’autrice ha seguito durante un soggiorno di ricerca come Visiting Research Fellow presso CUNY - the City University of New York, che aveva come focus di studio Understanding Housing Dynamics: Frictions and Potentialities in Policies and Practices, il libro restituisce al dibattito italiano alcuni nodi della questione abitativa, per come si configura oggi a New York, proponendo una mappatura delle politiche e dei programmi che la affrontano, per elaborare un esercizio di apprendimento da/con una prospettiva decentrata.
Le storie sono anche una occasione per riflettere sulla gestione dell’Affordability - che si conferma l’obiettivo principale delle politiche abitative - intorno alla quale interrogare il ruolo delle Community, le rinnovate posture dell’Advocacy Planning, le polarizzazioni sociali e i diritti spaziali.
Articolato in tre parti che perimetrano il campo della riflessione a cavallo della pandemia come momento che ha esacerbato alcuni tratti dell’emergenza abitativa, il libro propone una lezione di metodo per gli Housing Studies in prospettiva comparativa./ [English]: On the basis of three narratives that the author followed during a research stay as Visiting Research Fellow at CUNY the City University of New York, whose focus of study was Understanding Housing Dynamics: Frictions and Potentialities in Policies and Practices, the book brings back to the Italian debate some of the nodes of the housing issue as it is configured today in New York, proposing a mapping of the policies and programmes that address it, in order to elaborate a learning exercise from/with a decentralised perspective.
The narratives also provide an opportunity to reflect on the management of affordability - reaffirmed as the primary objective of housing policy - around which to question the role of communities, the new postures of advocacy planning, social polarisations and spatial rights.
Articulated in three parts that circumscribe a field of reflection straddling the pandemic as a moment that exacerbated certain features of the housing emergency, the book proposes a methodological lesson for Housing Studies in a comparative perspective

L'edizione critica e la traduzione inglese annotata del testo sanscrito di questo capitolo sono precedute da uno studio sulla struttura e sui contenuti del testo, sulle sue citazioni nei Dharmanibandhas di Lakṣmīdhara e Hemādri, e sulla sua appropriazione creativa da parte di diversi Purāṇa (il Liṅgapurāṇa, Devīpurāṇa, Bhaviṣyapurāṇa, Saurapurāṇa e Nāradapurāṇa), nonché del Bṛhatkālottaratantra. È inclusa anche un'edizione e una traduzione inglese di un commento sanscrito su questo capitolo. Il libro si conclude con diverse appendici, in cui sono citati ampi passaggi paralleli tratti dai vari testi che hanno utilizzato il capitolo 10.
