The Role of Dynamic Capabilities in Moderating the Influence of Entrepreneurial Alertness and Entrepreneurial Intuition on Business Opportunity Recognition in the Café Industry

    Get PDF
The aim of this study is to examine the influence of alertness and intuition among entrepreneurs on recognizing business opportunities in the café industry, with dynamic capabilities as the moderating variable. Although the pandemic of COVID-19 has become a distant history, many business owners are still struggling to find new grounds in the new business landscape which is dominated by the uprising of e-commerce and unconventional business platforms. So, many of them have started to venture into new opportunities to expand their business interests, and café business offers a new option, especially in rural areas where people are killing their time by socializing with others in warung (food stalls). Because the study is seeking explanations on how dynamic capabilities affects the relationship between independent variables and dependent variable, the research method is adopting the quantitative research method, in which the data are collected using questionnaires from purposely selected respondents. For this study, the questionnaires were distributed to small business owners in some rural areas or small cities, and a hundred valid questionnaires were obtained and processed with smartPLS to get the robustness of the study and the results of the hypothesis tests. The results show that entrepreneurial alertness has a significant influence on business opportunity recognition, but entrepreneurial intuition does not have any influence on business opportunity recognition among café business owners in rural areas. Dynamic capabilities do not show any moderating effect between entrepreneurial alertness and business opportunity recognition, however, dynamic capabilities show the moderating effect on entrepreneurial intuition and business opportunity recognition

Predicting IBE Webinar Registrants Using Linearization of Some Sigmoidal Functions

    Get PDF
We present a novel approach to obtain parameters of some Sigmoidal functions such as: Stevens, Gompertz, Logistics, Weibull, Brody, von Bertalaffy, & Ontogenetic. This approach extends the approach relies on iterative process to find “maximum” R2 and the traditional Ordinary Least Square (OLS) that can be implemented very easily. We demonstrate the approach in predicting IBE Webinar registrants. We also provide a new modification for the stopping rule based on Taylor approximation that can make the algorithm more robust as well as stop faster with little impact to the prediction

Stress-Strain Model of Concrete Columns Externally Collared with Steel Angles Subjected to Axial Compression

RC Structures with poorly confined columns have been known to have poor performance during earthquake events. Brittle failures of columns with low ductility can lead to progressive overall building collapses. Many confining techniques have been proven to be successful in retrofitting circular columns. However, for square or rectangular columns, providing effective confining stress be the external retrofitting method is not a simple task due to the high stress concentration occurring at the columns corners. In this paper, an analytical model for the axial stress-strain relationship of square columns confined only by external steel collars has been developed. The combined effect of conventional internal stirrups and the external steel collars on the improved stress-strain relationship has been also developed analytically and proposed as the retrofit design approach. Comparison with experimental results has shown that the axial stress-strain relationship of square RC columns could be well predicted be the proposed retrofit design approach

Locking-Free Kriging-Based Curved Beam Elements with the Discrete Strain Gap Technique

    Get PDF
Kriging-based finite element method (K-FEM) is an enhancement of the FEM using Kriging interpolation in place of the conventional polynomial interpolation. This paper presents the development of the K-FEM for analysis of curved beams based on a deep arc theory, which accounts for membrane and shear deformation. The discrete strain gap technique is employed to circumvent shear locking and membrane locking. The numerical tests show that the Kriging-based elements are free from any locking, are able to provide highly accurate solutions with a regular course mesh discretization, and have excellent convergence characteristics, especially for circular beams

Transformasi kebun hidroponik konvensional menjadi energy-efficient smart urban farming berbasis IoT

    No full text
Urban Farming is a farming technique in an urban environment by utilizing an area, such as a yard, garden, or even the roof of a building. To optimize the benefits of urban farming, good and controlled governance is needed, starting from the initial process of preparation, planting, maintenance to harvest and post-harvest. In Surabaya, hydroponic urban farming was found owned by KRPL Tambakrejo Surabaya, which was not functioning properly. Through community service activities using theABCD (Asset Based Community Development) method, efforts were made for empowerment and improvement by transforming their conventional hydroponic garden into a smart hydroponic system. This method was implemented starting from identifying the problems faced by KRPL Tambakrejo, such as difficulties in clean water supply, rat infestation, limited electricity sources, and suboptimal product marketing methods. The transformation process was carried out through revitalizing the conventional hydroponic system into an IoT-based and solar-powered smart hydroponic system. From the analysis results after the transformation, KRPL Tambakrejos hydroponic garden could generate a minimum profit of Rp 4,032,000 per year. Besides being very energy-efficient and directly monitorable via the internet, the hydroponic garden is now also free from rat infestations

Products produced by manufacturing companies are always required to meet the requirements set by customers. Manufacturing companies need to maintain product quality by involving internal company components and external partners by using integrated information technology to become supply chain quality integration. All components in the supply chain flow must be committed to maintaining product quality in their respective roles. The research aims to ensure that technology information integration can impact firm performance through supply chain quality integration and resilience. Data collection on manufacturing companies in Java using purposive sampling found 162 companies that had received ISO certification. Respondents were determined to be employees at the middle management level and had worked for a minimum of 3 years. Data processing used partial least squares version 4 to answer all research hypotheses. The data processing results showed that information technology integration influenced supply chain quality integration by 0.588 and supply chain resilience by 0.523 and had no significant effect on increasing firm performance. Supply chain quality integration influences supply chain resilience by 0.288 and increases firm performance by 0.496. Lastly, Supply chain resilience has a positive and significant effect on increasing firm performance by 0.169. The research results provide a practical contribution to the companys top management in maintaining the role and function of technology information integration and the ISO system in maintaining supply chain quality integration. Theoretical contribution to enrich the theory of total quality management and supply chain management
