Financial literacy plays a crucial role in preparing retirement planning. Without a good understanding of financial management, individuals will face financial challenges when retirement. This study examines the effect of financial literacy and demographics on individual retirement planning in Surabaya. This type of research is a comparative analysis with a sample of individuals already working and domiciled in Surabaya, selected using a purposive sampling technique and obtained 141 respondents. The data collection technique used a questionnaire distributed online via Google Forms on WhatsApp and Line media. The data analysis technique used was a Chi-square and one-way ANOVA test. The study results showed that financial literacy is essential in saving decisions but does not affect the savings chosen. Demographic factors such as age, education, income, gender, and marital status significantly influence saving decisions with a sign level, while only gender and marital status affect the choice of savings categories. This study implies that pension policies and programs should be designed by considering demographic characteristics, such as education level and income, to be more effective in encouraging retirement-saving behavior

Exploring the knowledge and participation of university students on waste-to-wealth program in Surabaya

University activities have a significant impact on the environment. The sustainable development paradigm has emphasized the importance of sustainable waste management practices at all organizational levels, including the implementation of waste-to-value initiatives. This study was conducted to investigate the level of understanding and engagement of students regarding wasteful initiatives for asset improvement. Convenience sampling was used to collect data from 382 students at Petra Christian University (PCU), which were then analyzed using descriptive and inferential analysis. Results showed varying levels of understanding among students based on demographics and overall understanding of waste to asset initiatives was good (mean score = 4.21/6). However, the participation of most students in these initiatives is low (71.47%). This study shows that their knowledge and demographic background (year of study, education level, income) influence students participation in waste to asset programs. These findings suggest that more efforts are needed to increase student participation in waste-to-wealth initiatives

Negative Parenting Styles in the Second Anime Adaptation of Fruits Basket the Series (2019 - 2021)

    Get PDF
This paper explores the negative parenting styles employed in the second anime series adaptation of Fruits Basket (2019 - 2021) and the effects on the children, focusing on Ren Sohma, Akito Sohma’s mother, and Isuzu Sohma’s parents as well as the two children. The main theory in this analysis is the parenting styles theory by Diana Baumrind, Eleanor Maccoby, and John Martin. While Ren Sohma’s extreme competitiveness, abuse, and neglect resulted in Akitos emotional hunger, violent tendencies, and rebellion, Isuzu’s parents’ superficial care, abuse, and abandonment led to Isuzu’s low self-worth and self-isolation. This study proves that although both children suffer from authoritarian and neglectful parenting, the different methods that their parents employ lead to different results. Thus, this analysis highlights the long-lasting effects of the negative parenting styles and the varying impacts they have o

IoTfor Cathodic Protection System as Iron Concretes Corrosion Protection

    Get PDF
Iron concrete or reinforcement steel is steel used for reinforcement of concrete construction or known as reinforced concrete. Iron concrete can undergo a corrosion process caused by chemical or electrochemical reactions between reinforcement steel and its environment. One way to protect concrete from corrosion is cathodic protection. There are two types of cathodic protection, namely sacrificial anodes and impressed current cathodic protection (ICCP). ICCP is more commonly used for protection in reinforced concrete structures. In ICCP, negative current flows to the iron concrete and positive current flows to the anode. This is to protect the concrete from corrosion. In addition to the corrosion protection system, there is also a half-cell potential test to measure the chance of corrosion of the concrete. The project used IoT to monitor and control the ICCP. Measurements are made by reading the potential difference between the reference electrode and the iron concrete. The probability of corrosion can be determined by reading the corrosion probability table with ASTM C879-09 standard. The ICCP system in general still uses the manual method so that there are time efficiency problems in controlling the voltage and current for ICCP purposes, cannot schedule the provision of electric current and monitor it at any time, especially if the electric current flowing in the concrete is higher than the standard it should be. Based on the results of the tests carried out, the IoT system can regulate the power supply by setting the voltage and current and can schedule the power supply to provide electric current to the iron concrete and can provide notifications if the electric current flowing in the concrete is more than or less than ICCP standard

Assessment of Indoor Acoustic Performance: Impact of Interior Materials on Classrooms in Higher Education Buildings

    Get PDF
The acoustic quality of classrooms in higher education institutions is very important to support effective and efficient teaching and learning processes. Poor classroom acoustic conditions can cause communication disorders, such as difficulty hearing instructions and misunderstandings, thus disrupting the learning process. This study investigates how interior element materials (floors, walls, and ceilings) can affect the acoustic performance of classrooms. The case study took classrooms from six higher education institutions, namely Petra Christian University, Ciputra University, Wilwatikta College of the Arts, and 17 August 1945 University in Surabaya, as well as Satya Wacana Christian University in Salatiga and the Indonesian Institute of the Arts in Yogyakarta. This study used a quantitative method using I-Simpa (Integrated System for Indoor Acoustic Performance Assessment) software. I-Simpa can identify deficiencies in sound quality by measuring RT30 (reverberation time), C50 (clarity), and D50 (definition) of each existing classroom. Data were collected through acoustic measurements and students perceptions regarding their experiences with classroom acoustics. The findings can reveal the use of inappropriate interior element materials, which can significantly reduce the clarity of sound in the teaching and learning process in the classroom. The results of the study are expected to provide optimal acoustic material solutions and the most strategic layout to improve sound distribution in the classroom. This study provides suggestions for acoustic material management based on innovation and technology, which will be useful for designing classroom interiors in higher education buildings in the future
