Symbolic Representation of War in Grave of the Fireflies (1988)
The evolution of animation has been closely tied to pop culture, particularly Japanese anime which significantly influences global animation. With over 430 anime production studios in Japan, Studio Ghibli has emerged as one of the most popular anime studios. Its popularity is partly due to its exploration of themes related to humanity and environmental issues, including war. Reflecting on the fact of how the film has served as a medium to criticize the war, Studio Ghibli confidently implied it in some of its films, one of which is Grave of the Fireflies (1988). This thesis goes beyond recent studies that focus solely on fireflies as symbols of wartime conditions. The broader symbolism used in Grave of the Fireflies will be analyzed to see the impact of war in physical and mental aspects before and after the war. By applying symbolism in war film theory to analyze physical and mental aspects, it shows the characters’ struggles, fears, aspirations, and sacrifices through symbols that appear throughout the film. Moreover, the findings indicate that all of the symbols used in this film have evolved into two opposing conditions: hopefulness and hopelessness
An Enhanced Mean Value Theorem with Bisection Technique to Elevate User Focus Metrics in Talent Finder Applications
Contemporary digital workplaces face pervasive distractions (e.g., notifications, multitasking), yet talent-assessment systems rarely quantify their impact on attention. To address this gap, we integrate the classical Mean Value Theorem (MVT) with an adaptive bisection algorithm to model user-focus dynamics in talent-matching applications. MVTs limit-based formulation captures continuous attentional shifts, while the iterative bisection method focus metrics by capturing dynamic attentional shifts through the mean toward optimal focus equilibrium, ensuring temporal continuity and rapid convergence. A controlled experiment involving Universitas Negeri Malang undergraduate students tested the Enhanced Mean Value TheoremBisection (EMVT-B) method in four simulated workplace scenarios. Participants selected Focus-oriented options over alternative strengths (Communication, Input, Relator, Adaptability) in approximately 65% of decisions, highlighting moderate yet improvable attentional commitment. Sensitivity analysis indicated that increasing the mean-shift threshold by 0.05 could raise Focus-oriented selections to 72%, emphasizing the methods practical impact. These findings establish EMVT-B as both a diagnostic and prescriptive tool, quantifying attentional stability while providing personalized strategies to enhance user focus. Future research should examine longitudinal applications and broader talent portfolios
Harapan Baru, Presiden Baru
Kemenangan memiliki seribu ayah, sementara kekalahan, tragisnya diibaratkan sebagai yatim piatu, sepertinya menemui legalitas. Meskipun MK baru memutus perkara gugatan pasangan Prabowo-Hatta tanggal 22 Agustus 2014, satu per satu anggota Koalisi Merah Putih mulai berangsur mencari selamat sendiri-sendiri.
Membangun Identitas Jenama Produk Wastra Alami Pokmas Wastra Sejahtera Jombang
The Wastra Sejahtera Community Group (POKMAS), a natural weaving artisan community in Mojotrisno Village, Jombang Regency, faces significant marketing obstacles. Traditional marketing has failed to reach a broader market, causing a backlog of products that affect the sustainability of the artisans businesses. The community service project aims to solve this problem using digital marketing, especially social media like Instagram and Tiktok, to improve sales results. The project implementation method includes five stages: initial preparation and competitor analysis, brand identity recommendations, development of brand identity and social media assets, training initiatives, and a final evaluative stage. The results of the community service project indicate that POKMAS Wastra Sejahtera has gained a deeper understanding of the importance of building brand identity in the digital era. Community members realize that brand identity is not just a logo or brand but a representation of woven products values, character, and uniqueness. They now possess the information and abilities to independently carry out digital marketing strategies, comprehend how to create engaging content, communicate with audiences, and assess the effectiveness of completed marketing campaigns. This community service project also has a long-term impact on the sustainability and development of POKMAS Wastra Sejahtera. Implementing subsequent community service activities should focus on developing more interactive and practice-based training modules. Moreover, intensive support needs to be provided to participants who struggle with operating digital devices
From sign to design: The role of domain transfer in redefining architecture locality
This research examines the design process using conceptual
frameworks based on domain transfer to suggest a new model for
architecture based on local contexts. Plowrights conceptual
framework is a way of developing new ideas, in which architecture
may or may not be subverted with concepts that are significant;
meanings may also be redefined with ‘big ideas’ (concepts),
analogy, metaphor or significant questions from inside and outside
the realms of architecture. This research utilizes case study method
through design and reflects on the design process within the context
of the West Java Cultural Center design competition. This analysis
deconstructed and explained the design process using the
conceptual framework, identifying unique representations of crosscultural
and West Java culture as the basis for an architectural
program. The case was used to understand the transformational
architectural syntax occurring from local signs and symbols as
evidence of innovation. The results of the case study fell within three
areas: concepts as a way to achieve a place of innovation
(hypothesis), transferring ideas based on locality into elements and
syntax (transfer), and bringing them all together into a coherent
design (coherence). Domain transfer was redefined in this case
study as the translation of symbolic values and cultural attributes
from non-architecture into architectural form and elements in
pursuit of contextual design innovation

HR strategies for sustaining remote-work productivity across generations
Introduction: Remote work has become the new norm with its impact potentially varying across generations. This research explores the relationship between remote work challenges, which are work-home interference and financial security, towards productivity, one element of sustainability, and how these effects are influenced by generational differences. Method: Data from respondents across the three generations, Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z, are analysed using the PLS-SEM. Results: The analysis indicates that both work- home interference and financial security are significant factors contributing to productivity. Generational characteristics moderates only the relationship between work-home interference and productivity but not between financial security and productivity. Discussion: The findings suggest that companies need agile strategies to mitigate interference and ensure remote workers financial security. Customised HR policies can help accommodate different generations varying needs and preferences

Empowering Indonesian Millennials: The Role of Financial Literacy, Goal Clarity, and Risk Tolerance in Retirement Savings
The millennial generation in Indonesia may struggle with retirement if they do not begin preparing their retirement funds early. This study aims to explore the impact of financial literacy, retirement goal clarity, and financial risk tolerance on the retirement saving behavior of millennials. Data was collected through an online questionnaire using purposive sampling targeting employed Indonesian millennials, resulting in 212 respondents. Hypothesis testing was conducted using partial least square-structural equation modeling with the Smart-PLS 4.0 software. The results of this study reveal that subjective financial literacy significantly influences retirement saving behavior, both directly and through the partial mediation of retirement goal clarity. In contrast, objective financial literacy and financial risk tolerance do not exhibit a significant influence on retirement saving behavior. The findings underscore the importance of boosting confidence in financial knowledge and the clarity of retirement goals to encourage better saving habits among millennials. Setting clear retirement goals is crucial for driving saving behavior, even when potential risks are factored in. Millennials are approaching retirement age, making it essential to assess their readiness and preparedness for retirement
INTEGRASI KONSERVASI BANGUNAN CAGAR BUDAYA DAN TEKNOLOGI IMERSIF DALAM DESAIN INTERIOR PAMERAN SENI: STUDI KONSEPTUAL ARTSUBS 2025 DI POS BLOC SURABAYA
Designing interior exhibitions within cultural heritage buildings requires a
balanced approach between preserving historical values and creating
innovative spatial experiences. This study aims to develop an interior
concept for the Artsubs 2025 exhibition at Pos Bloc Surabaya by
integrating conservation principles and immersive technology. The
method used is design thinking, consisting of six stages: understand,
observe, point of view, ideate, prototype, and test, with data collected
through field observation, literature review, and interviews. The design
results show that a non-destructive conservation approach combined with
immersive media—such as interactive projections, augmented reality, and
sensory-based installations—can offer a compelling spatial experience
without altering the building’s architectural integrity. The main concept,
“Tirta Pratala,” represents a thematic narrative through spatial zoning
inspired by water and earth elements. This study contributes to the field of
conservation-based interior exhibition design, highlighting its relevance to
both local cultural context and contemporary technological innovation
