A Labor of Love: WALL-E\u27s Redemption
Get PDFInaugurated into the Criterion Collection in 2022 this paper re-examines some of the initial responses to the 2008 Disney-Pixar animated film, WALL-E. The movie received a mixed reception, largely celebrated (but occasionally viewed as “too leftist” by others) for its environmental, anti-capitalist message by many public critics, yet disparaged or dismissed as being superficially empty, shallow, and hollow in academic circles. Labor has been the focus of some academic criticism of the film, particularly as it relates to commoditisation, but this paper recontextualises labor not with capitalism, but with love. By viewing the film through the dynamic of labor and love, larger questions are raised on humanity’s relationship to both. As such, WALL-E the robot exhibits Biblical qualities: his relationship with labor and manual work is reminiscent of Adam, and his relationship with love reflects the salvific dimensions of redemption and sacrifice. Thus WALL-E the film and WALL-E the robot can be viewed Christologically
Pathways to Aggression: Understanding Peer Victimization in Adolescence
Get PDFInsight into aggression among early adolescents is important to understanding its predictors and consequences. In adolescence, aggression is typically related to underlying issues. Addressing this is important, as unmanageable aggression progressing past early adolescence can result in involvement in the criminal justice system. Studies show that peer victimization is associated with increased levels of aggression. Aggressive adolescents may attract victimization from their peers, or those who are victimized may respond with aggression. The current study followed a sample of 182 fifth and sixth graders over the course of the school year. Constructs such as aggression, peer victimization, and social withdrawal were measured. Aggression was stable over the course of the school year. Boys were significantly higher in peer victimization at the beginning of the school year. However, boys were also significantly higher in aggression at both the beginning and end of the school year compared to girls. Aggression at the end of the school year was positively associated with peer victimization at the beginning of the school year. Regression analyses were also conducted to predict change in aggression. Furthermore, peer victimization predicted aggression. Social withdrawal moderated this relationship

The implementation will utilize the Python library PuLP to prototype the model, alongside a user-friendly interface for input and output visualization. Validation will be conducted through hypothetical scenarios and feedback from gym-goers, with statistical analysis comparing the model\u27s results to standard fitness plans

Despite these initiatives, significant disparities persist in the healthcare workforce, amplified by structural racism and systemic barriers to entry. These challenges contribute to heightened anxiety, which can hinder the success of students pursuing healthcare careers.
The Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) seeks to mitigate these barriers by fostering an inclusive environment where students gain academic skills and mentorship. Among the many challenges underrepresented students face, anxiety is a significant and measurable obstacle that can negatively impact their academic and professional trajectories. Understanding SHPEP’s specific impact on participants’ anxiety levels is critical for evaluating its effectiveness. This study focuses on assessing changes in anxiety before and after the program using the Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-item (GAD-7) questionnaire

Wilma Crumley(1927-2009)
No full textKenny\u27s project documents Wilma Crumley, a journalist turned educator. Originally working in advertising, she began teaching the same subject at UNO. Through the usage of transcribed interviews and newspaper articles, Kenny shows how Crumley encouraged women\u27s rights and utilized her position at the school to foster change within her community. ***Note: There are additional images that correspond to this presentation.
