The Non-Metaphysical Philosopher. The Philosophy and Metaphilosophy of Stefan Sarnowski
The article is an attempt at presenting the main ideas of Polish contemporary philosopher Stefan Sarnowski (1939–2014). In his works Sarnowski labelled his conception as metaphilosophy, the philosophy of philosophy, and also non-metaphysical philosophy. all these terms, as much as they are treated as the same in this theory, emphasise its different aspects. According to the author of this article, a key idea of Sarnowski’s philosophy is presented by the term non-metaphysical philosophy. In his conception of philosophy, Sarnowski refers to the philosophy of Descartes, Husserl, and Plato. In this conception the idea of philosophical doubting plays an important part. By philosophical doubting we have to understand doubting in everything, i.e. doubting in every thought. Thanks to this philosophical method the ideas of freedom and human entity become reality

Selekcje szkolne w toku kształcenia czy spontaniczne? Kilka pytań o merytokrację w świetle dorobku Profesora Ryszarda Borowicza
Processes of selection of schools have already constituted the object of the Doctoral Dissertation of Professor Ryszard Borowicz, prepared under a scientific supervision of Professor Zbigniew Kwieciński, and also of his numerous books and papers published throughout his whole scientific career. One of the leading concepts applied in the projects carried out by Professor Ryszard Borowicz was the meritocratic concept. Application of that theory in the explanation of phenomena taking place in the contemporary education system has been subject of critical analysis. Besides, the possible directions of studies have been proposed concerning the selection of schools, including the university-level of education. A number of questions have been raised worth answering, especially in face of dynamic transformations taking place in the Polish society that are somehow a consequence of belief in education that was supposed to create stratification mechanisms enabling promotion of positively selected individuals, according to the relation “merit-award”. With consideration for the Professor’s achievements, and for current indicators, some phenomena have been presented that currently exist in the system and are directly related with the problem of selection of schools.Projekt Operacyjny Polska Cyfrowa POPC.02.03.01-00-0039/1

Features of Legal Consciousness in the Post-Soviet Period: the Experience of the Modern Ukrainian Constitutionalism
The author analyses the role of legal consciousness in the formation of civil society and a democratic
state. The author focuses on peculiarities of legal consciousness characteristic of the post-Soviet
citizens. In his view the ideology of paternalism, legal nihilism and the sense of the deficit of legal
responsibility still prevail both in political practice and in minds of ordinary citizens. The mentioned
phenomena constitute thus the distinctive features of the legal consciousness in modern Ukraine. They
are common both to the representatives of the public authority and to members of the civil society.Autor analizuje rolę świadomości prawnej w kształtowaniu obywatelskiego społeczeństwa
i demokratycznego państwa prawnego. Przedmiotem badania są właściwości świadomości prawnej
obywateli doby postsowieckiej. Zdaniem autora do cech charakterystycznych dla świadomości prawnej
w warunkach współczesnej Ukrainy, występujących zarówno u przedstawicieli władz publicznych
jak i u członków obywatelskiego społeczeństwa, należy dominacja ideologii paternalizmu, nihilizm
prawny, poczucie deficytu prawnej odpowiedzialności zarówno w świadomości obywateli, jak
i w praktyce polityczne
Przemiany obywatelstwa we współczesnych demokracjach - wyzwania dla edukacji
Kultura polityczna danego społeczeństwa przejawia się przede wszystkim w powszechnym uczestnictwie obywateli w procesach demokratycznych. Koncepcja tzw. kontrdemokracji na nowo definiuje partycypację, bardziej w kategoriach krytycznego recenzowania poczynań władz niż bezpośredniego zaangażowania politycznego. Przemiany pojmowania istoty obywatelstwa mają różne przyczyny, m.in. nieusuwalność konfliktu w sferze publicznej oraz wszechobecność manipulacji. Konflikty mają przede wszystkim podłoże ekonomiczne, ale również – wobec narastającej wielokulturowości – etniczne i religijne. Efektem manipulacji jest obecność w przestrzeni publicznej stereotypów i myślenia mitycznego. Kompetencje obywatelskie powinny w sobie zawierać m.in.: refleksyjność, krytycyzm, tolerancję, umiejętność komunikowania, odporność na manipulację, umiejętność współpracy. Nowe trendy w pojmowaniu obywatelstwa nakazują na nowo stawiać pytania o znaczenie edukacji w kształtowaniu pożądanych kompetencji obywatelskich
