Komunikowanie się podmiotów edukacji jako spotkanie

    No full text

Effectiveness of the Strengthening Families Program (SFP 10-14) in preventing psychoactive substance use among adolescents has been proved in several USA studies resulting in acknowledging SFP10-14 as one of the most effective programs in the world. But still a question remains about this program effectiveness in other cultural settings, like e.g. Poland. In RCT in Poland participated 684 parent-child dyads with youth 10-14 years old from 20 local communities. Anonymous, questionnaire data was collected from parents and children before SFP 10-14 implementation and after 12 and 24 months. Some positive SFP 10-14 effects observed after 12 months among older youth (at lest 12 years of age) in terms of reduced psychoactive substance use and improved relationships with parents, disappeared in the follow-up. But positive parental outcomes (improved skills and practices) remained stable after 24 months. Lower, than in the USA, effectiveness of SFP 10-14 in Polish context implicates re-analysis of the process of program’s cultural adaptation, context of its implementation and methods of evaluation

The goal of the current study was to juxtapose the satisfaction with life and empathy along with the sense of locus of control among homeless women. We used Diener’s Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS), adapted to Polish by Z. Juczyński; Rotter’s Internal-External Control Scale, Kazimierczak & Plopa’s Emphatic Sensitivity Scale (scale originally in Polish under the name Skala Wrażliwości Empatycznej, SWE), as well a questionnaire constructed by the author for the purposes of this study. 21 homeless women inhabitants of homeless shelters (Prometeusz and Monar-Markot in Gdańsk, Poland) and residential training and rehabilitation centre (Osiedle Na Sitowiu, Gdańsk, Poland) took part in the study. Results suggest a correlation between the demographic along with psychosocial factors and the assessment of satisfaction with life as well as the levels of empathy of the investigated group. Participant’s satisfaction with life was either low or very low. The empathy levels were also low. The group was characterized by average levels of sense of internal control. A relationship was observed between the levels of satisfaction with life and the locus of control. Homeless women characterized by a higher sense of satisfaction with life had a sense of external locus of control

The way people deal with goals in life depends, to some degree, on the resources they have. Goals people choose and effectiveness in which they are fulfilled is related to personal resources, such as personal beliefs and tendencies to react affectively. In the present paper the role of resources favorable for effective functioning is discussed. The newest theoretical conceptions integrating the role of diverse personal resources in seeking the common core of positive beliefs and other personality variables are indicated. Directions of the series of the author’s research investigating the role of personal resources in the process of goal realization, activity engagement, and success in action are also described

Children and adolescents with intellectual disability are a group atrisk of school failure. Negative experiences at school may lead to the development of learning helplessness syndrome. This article presents results of the study on educational helplessness in children and adolescents with intellectual disability who attended elementary, middle, and vocational schools. 181 pupils of special education centers with mild intellectual disability and 854 pupils of public schools were tested. The Intellectual Helplessness Scale for mathematics and the Polish language, and the Locus of Control over School Grades Scale were used. The obtained results indicate clear differences in educational helplessness in pupils from general population at different educational settings, but not in students with intellectual disability. The helplessness level for mathematics and the Polish language was significantly higher in public school pupils in comparison to pupils with intellectual disability in middle, and vocational schools. The results were interpreted regarding the specifics of the pupils’ educational environments

Despite efforts of scientists and clinicians stroke still constitutes one of the major causes of disability worldwide. Motion-controlled video games become increasingly common adjunct to the traditional physical therapy. Such games are usually available, low-cost, fun, and functional ways to increase everyday treatment possibilities, both in hospital, ambulatory and home settings. Research and scientific publications concerning this issue are still rare. Assessment how interactive motion-controlled games can be incorporated into current guidelines of the eclectic approach within neurorehabilitation of adult post-stroke survivors is key issue within contemporary neurorehabilitation of adults. Complementary use of such games may constitute another breakthrough both in in-patient and out-patient rehabilitation and care. This review aims at potential of aforementioned solutions and modalities for the rehabilitation of function in cases of strok

Importance of Interpersonal Dependency for Quality of Close Relationships in Adulthood

The interest in the significance of dependency for various dimensions of human functioning is an aspect that requires particular attention especially due to the fact that up to the present day it has remained as not fully defined and solved. The recognition of the role of dependency could be of great value for the compilation of intervention programmes for couple therapy and at the same time contribute to the improvement of the quality of functioning of a dyad. Dependence formed in the earliest years of life as a result of contact with loved ones natural guardians, innate part of human nature (Bornstein, 1992). Acquired in the course of later experiences with others may take the form of pathology and dysfunction disrupting relationships, but also be a manifestation of the proper functioning of a dyad (Bornstein, Languirand, 2003). This paper presents the concept and dependencies in the psychological literature (both adaptive and maladaptive). Special attention was paid to the importance of a healthy dependency for human functioning and its role in shaping the intimate relationships

To defend the values. The memory metaphor as a trace in the poetry of Zbigniew Herbert

    No full text
Literary reflection, dealing with a problem of memory, characterizes the circumstances of remembering, shows, which content of memory is dominant, how the hierarchies of values are shaped, how memory participates in the process of experience acquisition. It emphasizes the function of narrations, symbols and metaphors. Showing the potential of significance, invoked by memory metaphors, emphasizes their internal mechanism and epistemological aspect. Memory is the main theme of Zbigniew Herbert’s works, it is directly related to a strongly experienced loss and a desire to save, of what has gone, from oblivion. This aspiration is protected by an ethical precept. In the article one type of memory metaphors has been discussed – the one which activates relationship between memory and a trace. In Herbert’s poetry memory issues, illustrated by this metaphor, are developed by the metaphor of a stamp and the metaphor of a scar. Both metaphorical structures indicate the most significant memory functions – recognition and remembering. They compose one of the basic ideas of Zbigniew Herbert’s poetry – define a desire to be faithful to distorted continuity of human history, devaluation of former values, in the situation of painfully experienced loss, emphasize a strive to retain a sense of continuity. Moreover, the process of constructing the metaphor shows new qualities, extends cognition, emphasizes internal mechanisms of memory function, its energy, dynamics and constant movement

Uśmiechnij się do Obcego! Uśmiech na styku sfer prywatnej i publicznej w warunkach zróżnicowania kulturowego

A sincere smile is a manifestation of good mood and good attitude to particular elements of the reality. In the contact point of the private and public sphere, for example in contacts with foreigners and clients, people are often forced to smile inauthentically. This frequently does not agree with their system of values and triggers inner resistance. However, if this is the price of the Other’s satisfaction and wellbeing, no wonder that - with growing frequency - the conventional, inauthentic smile beco mes an element of workshops concerning intercultural competence. This raises doubt about ethical aspects of such trainings and the idea of intercultural education at any costs (even against oneself) is not so evident any longer.
