Parental Leave in the Light of Labour Law
No full textThe parental leave is one of the parental rights of the employees. The institution has
been operative since 17 of June 2013. It can be used concurrently by both parents and the
total limit of these leaves cannot exceed 32 (or 34) weeks. The parental leave can be divided
into some parts, but no more than four ones. At the same time, the legislator has decided
that none of these parts can be shorter than 8 weeks. The parental leave is awarded
upon application of the employee within the time limit not shorter than 21 days prior to
commencement of the leave. In principle, the employer is obliged to accept these applications.
Depending on the chosen date for submitting the said application, the value of
maternity allowance varies. An employee who is on parental leave can undertake employment
and perform it on the basis of a reduced working time. The conditions for availing
oneself of such a possibility are analogous to the case where work is performed during
additional maternity leave or leave under conditions of a maternity leave.Urlop rodzicielski jest jednym z przysługujących pracownikom uprawnień rodzicielskich.
Instytucja obowiązuje od 17 czerwca 2013 r. Mogą z niego korzystać jednocześnie
oboje rodzice, przy czym łączny wymiar ich urlopów nie może przekraczać 32 (albo 34)
tygodni. Urlop ten może być podzielony na części, ale nie więcej niż na cztery. Jednocześnie
ustawodawca określił, że żadna z części nie może być krótsza niż 8 tygodni. Urlop
rodzicielski udzielany jest na wniosek pracownika w terminie nie krótszym niż 21 dni
przed rozpoczęciem urlopu. Zasadniczo pracodawca jest obowiązany uwzględnić te wnioski.
W zależności od wyboru terminu na złożenie omawianego wniosku zróżnicowana jest
wysokość zasiłku macierzyńskiego. Pracownik przebywający na urlopie rodzicielskim
może podjąć pracę i wykonywać ją w zmniejszonym wymiarze. Warunki skorzystania z
takiej możliwości są analogiczne jak w przypadku wykonywania pracy w trakcie dodatkowego
urlopu macierzyńskiego lub urlopu na warunkach urlopu macierzyńskiego

career. Up to a point, one produced a strictly theoretic illustration, and
then an empiric one, both of which raise the matter concerning the functioning
of a contemporary worker in terms of certain conditions created by employing
establishments in favour of their development. The key concept of the above,
which has been aforementioned, is a state of job satisfaction represented by an
individual and, what follows, one’s attitude towards the level of self-fulfilment in
the course of a professional career.W niniejszym artykule poruszono problematykę związaną z pojęciem kariery
zawodowej. W tym sensie sporządzono ilustrację teoretyczną, a następnie
- empiryczną, które poruszają zagadnienia związane z funkcjonowaniem współczesnego pracownika w kontekście warunków stwarzanych przez zakłady pracy na rzecz jego rozwoju. No full textNiniejsze opracowanie stanowi próbę ukazania relacji pomiędzy karierą naukową a życiem rodzinnym ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem sytuacji i wyborów kobiet naukowców w kontekście życia rodzinnego (głównie pełnienia roli rodzicielskiej). Zaprezentowano w nim dostępne wyniki badań dotyczące tego, jak obowiązki rodzinne wpływają na karierę naukowców oraz jak życie zawodowe kobiet pracujących naukowo i osiągających sukcesy zawodowe oddziałuje m.in. na ich dzietność. Na ich podstawie, a także w oparciu o studia literaturowe, obserwacje z życia akademickiego autorki oraz relacje innych pracowników naukowych uczelni, postawiono tezę, że kariera naukowa kobiet realizowana jest kosztem życia rodzinnego, a zwłaszcza pełnienia roli rodzicielskiej. Coraz częściej mamy bowiem do czynienia nie tyle z odroczeniem decyzji prokreacyjnych, co raczej z ich odrzuceniem głównie przez kobiety osiągające sukcesy zawodowe, a do takich należą kobiety naukowcy.This study is an attempt to present the relationship between the academic career and family life, with particular emphasis on the situations and choices of women scholars in the context of family life (mainly performing the parental role). Results of available studies on how family duties affect researchers’ careers, and how the professional lives of women embracing academic research and being successful professionally, influence, among others, their fertility, have been presented in it. It is on their basis, and based on literature studies, observations from the author’s academic life, and accounts of other academics, that a thesis was proposed that women’s academic career is pursued at the expense of family life and, especially, performing the parental role. Indeed, we are increasingly dealing not so much with the postponement of the decision on procreation, but rather with its rejection mainly by women attaining professional success, and such are female researchers

Get PDFThe article presents a specific aspect of language education, which is talking about different types of minorities, viz. existential, cultural and ideological ones. This problem is becoming of particular importance in the era of rapidly expanding areas of intercultural communication. In the Polish language education practice over the last several decades there have formed three models of speaking about the Other: blurring differences, conscious overlooking of the impact of ethnic,national and religious minorities on the form of the Polish tradition and culture; sustaining and fixing the stereotypical image of other nationalities, leading to identification of the different with otherness; linking attitudes towards representatives of other nations with ideological premises. Nowadays traditional models should be subjected to revaluation and it needs finding a language which can be used to speak about the Other in a way that they will not become Alien.
