    No full text
The advantage of the Internet technologies in the process of learning a foreign language nowadays doesn’t cause any doubts and doesn’t require any additional arguments. Directly the Internet resources are invaluable and are the vast basis for creation informational, educational and training sphere, as well as to satisfy their professional and personal needs. The economic development of the country gradually makes the Internet a reality for the majority of Russian schoolchildren. However, the mere availability of access to the Internet resources is not a guarantee of fast and high quality language education. In the world there are many examples of how methodologically illiterate-built work of students with the Internet resources has produced their wrong stereotypes and generalizations about the culture of English-speaking countries. The article explores the advisability of using computer technologies in teaching and learning foreign languages, and explores possible ways of language learning with the help of the Internet

The paper presents empirical study which attempts to explain the relationships between employees’ organizational commitment and their initiation of trainings. Initiation of training activity can be understood as a goal realization process and explained by using goal theories. Three phases of the process are analyzed: intention to undertake training, plan formulation, and actual training participation. Data from 202 employees were collected in a 3-month two-wave study. The findings show that each of the three dimensions of organizational commitment demonstrates different relationships with the phases of training initiation process. Continuance commitment is negatively, however weakly, correlated with all three phases of the process, normative commitment is unrelated, and affective commitment is positively correlated with intention to undertake training in the group of employees with less seniority. Organization size and employee seniority are significant moderators of some of analysed relationships

The interest taken in one’s own appearance is most often studied with reference to the population of women, however over the recent years concentrating on one’s looks concerns men as well. Generally men are more satisfied with their appearance than women and physical attractiveness is not an important element of Self for men as it is for women. 996 men, aged 18 to 29, took part in our study where we measured 1) their attitude towards their bodies with the Body Esteem Scale (Franzoi, Shields, 1984, Polish normalization by Lipowska, Lipowski, 2013), 2) the level of their narcissistic traits, examined with the Narcissistic Personality Inventory (Raskin, Hall, 1981) in Polish adaptation by Bazińska, Drat-Ruszczak, 2000). Additionally we used objective information from body measurements: weight, height and sizes of individual body parts. All that information allowed us to calculate anthropometric indices, such as body mass index (BMI), index of central obesity (ICO), waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) and waist-to-chest ratio (WCR). Our results show that the majority of men are satisfied with their body weight, though some of them would like to increase it by building up the musculature. Anthropometric indices describing level of obesity and type of body shape don’t predict a participant’s body satisfaction. The level of narcissism proved to be essential predictor of satisfaction with one’s own physical appearance, but only among men taking up activity aimed towards the correction of body weight. Higher level of narcissistic traits was related to higher focus on one’s appearance, more positive attitude towards body and higher involvement in losing weight or “building” muscles

Materials and methods: The study involved 50 women (median age – 50.2 years) undergoing BCT with sentinel lymph node biopsy for breast cancer in the Department of Breast Cancer and Reconstructive Surgery, Centre for Oncology, Bydgoszcz, Poland. The assessment was carried out in patients in clinical stages I and II. Standard QLQ-C30 and QLQ-BR23 questionnaires were used. The same participants filled in the QLQ-C30 and QLQ-BR23 questionnaires before (Group A1) and six weeks after the procedure (Group A2). Results: Quality of life measured with the use of EORTC QLQ-C30 and EORTC-BR 23 scales was higher in women before the procedure with respect to role functioning and global quality of life assessment (p 0.05)

The presented study is a part of project aimed at finding the sources of aggression among children in early school age. Exploratory research included 48 children, their parents (41 mothers, 19 fathers) and 2 teachers. To examine the relationship between the intensity of aggressive behaviour among pupils and emotionality of their parents, the following methods have been applied: Emotional Control Questionnaire by J. Brzeziński, Type D Scale by N. Ogińska-Bulik, Z. Juczyński and J. Denollet and the Student Behaviour Rating Scale by I. Grzankowska. The analyses have shown that mothers’ motivation to behave rationally is positively correlated with indirect aggression among children whereas fathers’ cognitive control of emotogeneous situations correlates negatively with the number of acts of physical aggression acts taken by children at school. The results indicate that parents emotional control could predict children aggressive behaviour. Due to a limited sample size, replication of the research is recommende

Active involvement of parents in cooperation with teachers at the level of early education is a very significant element in the process of changes in our education system. It is adults who create good or bad conditions of development and upbringing for a child. Therefore, cooperation with parents should be accompanied by a concern for satisfying current needs and future destiny of a child. Parents should support actions stimulating multilateral development of a student by increasing their involvement in the process of school’s operations. The presented study shows the scope of parents’ involvement in the process of education as well as their perception of this phenomenon. Dlatego współpracy z rodzicami powinna towarzyszyć troska o zaspokajanie aktualnych potrzeb i przyszłych losów dziecka.

“Close, closer and closer” - experiencing natural reality by the child in early education

    No full text
Learning about nature at school is very diverse, sometimes occasional, not to say – accidental, dominated by pictures, illustrations, electronic media and multimedia drives. The teacher, as the organizer of the school knowledge implementation, plays the key role in enhancing possibilities of child’s cognition of nature. It is the teacher who should initiate the child’s learning, activate the cognitive curiosity, help to phrase questions and the desire to explore natural environment. Unfortunately, numerous observations of school reality show that a child’s cognition of the natural world is limited to a passive looking through the classroom windows or enjoying the “paper” or digitalized world. To właśnie on powinien być inicjatorem dziecięcego poznania, wzbudzać ciekawość poznawczą, inicjować pytania, jakie dzieci mogłyby stawiać, poszukiwać, wspólnie eksplorować naturalne środowisko. Niestety, na podstawie licznych obserwacji rzeczywistości szkolnej trzeba zauważyć, że dziecięce poznawanie, doświadczanie przyrody ogranicza się często do oglądu przyrody przez klasowe szyby, podziwiania „papierowego”, „multimedialnego” odtworzonego świata
