departmental bulletin pape

5 歳児の棒回転課題の遂行における調整方略
In this study, we devised an exercise task in which the participants manipulated and rotated a stick by themselves. Thirty-two 5-year-old children (12 boys and 20 girls) were tested under the execution condition of rotating the stick 360 degrees in three rotations. In the case of right-handed rotation, the range of rotation gradually increased, forming 97.1 degrees in the first rotation, 117.6 degrees in the second rotation, and 145.3 degrees in the third rotation; there were significant differences between the first and second rotations (P < 0.05) and between the second and third rotations (P < 0.01). The End-States-Comfort (ESC) strategy was shown for the right rotation. In the case of left rotation, 104.9 degrees was formed in the first rotation, 127.4 degrees in the second rotation, and 127.7 degrees in the third rotation, and the second and third rotations were nearly equal in width. The left rotation performed by the non-dominant hand demonstrated a Start-State-Comfort (SSC) strategy for the start of the next movement. The influence of the dominant hand on the performance of the bar rotation task was seen as a difference in the coordination strategy combining ESC and SSC. The stick-rotation task is useful as a motor task that includes a cognitive component, since the participants switch their grasping hand by paying attention to both the visual information of the angle of the stick and the sensation of their own forearms.departmental bulletin pape
ジェネラルエクステンダー or anything : 緩和と強調のメカニズム
General Extenders refer to a group of expressions, including "or something, or anything, or whatever, and things (like that), and everything" etc., which typically appear at the end of a sentence or phrase. While each of these expressions plays a pivotal role in communication, they all share a common function: prompting the listener to form a general category using the preceding word or phrase as a specifi c example. Furthermore, "or anything" goes beyond its fundamental role, serving two additional functions: "mitigation" and "emphasis". However, these two functions may seem contradictory. Why does or anything perform these dual functions? This paper addresses this question by elucidating the mechanisms of mitigation and emphasis associated with "or anything" in the context of the semantic properties of "any."
Initially, this mechanism seemed to be explicable by relating mitigation and emphasis to the characteristics of the two types of "any": FC (Free Choice) "any" and NPI (Negative Polarity Item) "any". However, the situation turned out to be more complex: just because it indicates Free Choice does not indicate mitigation, and just because it is in a negative sentence does not indicate emphasis. Consequently, drawing from Horn's unified concept of "any", this paper proposes that or anything consistently means "free choice, including extremes". It was then clarified that contexts play a crucial role in determining whether "or anything" should work for mitigation or emphasis.departmental bulletin pape
Supercritical CO2-Assisted Electroless Plating of Ultrahigh-Molecular-Weight Polyethylene Filaments for Weavable Device Application
This study reports on the use of supercritical CO2 (scCO2) for the metallization of ultrahigh-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMW-PE) filaments, which are used as functional components in weavable devices. UHMW-PE is well known for its chemical and impact resistance, making it suitable for use in bulletproof clothing and shields. However, its chemical resistance poses a challenge for metallization. By utilizing scCO2 as the solvent in the catalyzation process, a uniform and defect-free layer of Ni-P is successfully deposited on the UHMW-PE filaments. The deposition rate of Ni-P is enhanced at higher temperatures during the scCO2 catalyzation. Importantly, the durability of the Ni-P-metalized UHMW-PE filaments is improved when the scCO2 catalyzation is carried out at 120 °C, as evidenced by minimal changes in electrical resistivity after a rolling test.journal articl
XRISM Spectroscopy of the Fe Kα Emission Line in the Seyfert Active Galactic Nucleus NGC 4151 Reveals the Disk, Broad-line Region, and Torus
We present an analysis of the first two XRISM/Resolve spectra of the well-known Seyfert-1.5 active galactic nucleus (AGN) in NGC4151, obtained in 2023 December. Our work focuses on the nature of the narrow FeKα emission line at 6.4 keV, the strongest and most common X-ray line observed in AGN. The total line is found to consist of three components. Even the narrowest component of the line is resolved with evident FeKα,1 (6.404 keV) and Kα,2 (6.391 keV) contributions in a 2:1 flux ratio, fully consistent with neutral gas with negligible
bulk velocity. Subject to the limitations of our models, the narrowest and intermediate-width components are consistent with emission from optically thin gas, suggesting that they arise in a disk atmosphere and/or wind.
Modeling the three line components in terms of Keplerian broadening, they are readily associated with (1) the inner wall of the “torus,” (2) the innermost optical “broad-line region” (or “X-ray BLR”), and (3) a region with a radius of r;100GM/c2 that may signal a warp in the accretion disk. Viable alternative explanations of the broadest
component include a fast-wind component and/or scattering; however, we find evidence of variability in the narrow FeKα line complex on timescales consistent with small radii. The best-fit models are statistically superior
to simple Voigt functions, but when fit with Voigt profiles the time-averaged lines are consistent with a projected velocity broadening of FWHM = 1600+ 400 200 kms1
. Overall, the resolution and sensitivity of XRISM show that the narrow FeK line in AGN is an effective probe of all key parts of the accretion flow, as it is currently understood.
Wediscuss the implications of these findings for our understanding of AGN accretion, future studies with XRISM, and X-ray-based black hole mass measurements.journal articl
