    Bu poster çalışmasının amacı, kamuya açık patentlerin inovasyon ekosistemindeki önemini vurgulamak ve patent analizleri ile elde edilebilecek verilere dikkat çekmektir. Patent verileri ile iç ve dış paydaşlar arasındaki öneme de vurgu yapmak amaçlanmıştır. Patentler yeni ürün, girişim ve teknolojilerin korunmasını sağlarken, aynı zamanda da araştırmacıların bilgiye erişimi sağlayarak farklı sektörlerde inovasyonu ve araştırmayı teşvik etmektedir. Patent yasaları 18. Yüzyıldan günümüze kadar gelişmiş ve inovasyon sonuçlarını korumayı hedeflemiştir. Birleşik Patent Mahkemesi (Unified Patent Court – UPC)’nin kurulması ile uluslararası hukuksal süreçlerde yargı birliği hedeflenmektedir. Türkiye, Avrupa Patent Sözleşmesi (European Patent Convention - EPC)’nin parçası olmasına rağmen Birleşik Patent Mahkemesi sisteminin dışındadır

    Uso de suplementos nutricionais en esquiadores Turcos de elite: Datos preliminares

    Winter sports athletes challenge with increased energy expenditure, glycogen utilization, and fluid loss due to cold environmental conditions. Nutritional supplements (NS) may provide various benefits such as improved health or performance, more effective training, and a direct performance advantage to winter sports athletes such as skiers. This study aims to investigate NS consumption in Turkish elite skiers of different competition levels. Fifty-five elite male skiers completed the online specific survey about NS consumption, which included sections on demographics, sport/training, and NS consumption. However, thirty participants were excluded from the study due to being under the age of 18. Surveys of 25 elite athletes were analyzed (44.0% of all in national competitions vs. 56.0% of all in international competitions). The disciplines of participants were alpine skiing (76.0%), cross-country skiing (20%), and snowboarding (4%). 88.0% (n=22) of the participants declared that they consumed at least one supplement. The mostly consumed NS were vitamin D (16.0%), green tea (16.0%), omega-3 fatty acids (12.0%), vitamin C (12.0%), caffeine (12.0%), and whey protein (12.0%). The major reasons for NS consumption were to increase sports performance (32.0%) and to take care of health (24.0%). The most common sites of purchase were pharmacies (32.0%) and the Internet (16.0%). The main sources of NS-consuming motivation were physicians (24.0%) and self-advice (20.0%). NS consumption moderately appeared among Turkish male skiers. Unconscious or excessive use of NS may impair performance and pose a risk to the health of the winter sports athlete. Therefore, it should be questioned medically, physiologically, culturally, and ethically whether the athletes have the necessary knowledge to make an informed choice in future studies.Atletas de esportes de inverno enfrentam desafios de aumento do gasto energético, utilização de glicogênio e perda de fluidos devido às condições ambientais frias. Suplementos nutricionais (NS) podem fornecer vários benefícios, como melhoria da saúde ou desempenho, treinamento mais eficaz e vantagem direta de desempenho para atletas de esportes de inverno, como esquiadores. Este estudo tem como objetivo investigar o consumo de NS em esquiadores de elite turcos de diferentes níveis de competição. Cinquenta e cinco esquiadores de elite do sexo masculino completaram a pesquisa específica on-line sobre o consumo de NS, que incluiu seções sobre demografia, esporte/treinamento e consumo de NS. No entanto, trinta participantes foram excluídos do estudo por serem menores de 18 anos. Foram analisadas as pesquisas de 25 atletas de elite (44,0% de todos os atletas em competições nacionais e 56,0% de todos em competições internacionais). As disciplinas dos participantes foram esqui alpino (76,0%), esqui cross-country (20%) e snowboarding (4%). 88,0% (n=22) dos participantes declararam que consumiram pelo menos um suplemento. Os NS mais consumidos foram vitamina D (16,0%), chá verde (16,0%), ácidos graxos ômega-3 (12,0%), vitamina C (12,0%), cafeína (12,0%) e proteína de soro de leite (12,0%). As principais razões para o consumo de NS foram aumentar o desempenho esportivo (32,0%) e cuidar da saúde (24,0%). Os locais de compra mais comuns foram farmácias (32,0%) e internet (16,0%). As principais fontes de motivação para o consumo de NS foram médicos (24,0%) e auto aconselhamento (20,0%). O consumo de NS apareceu moderadamente entre os esquiadores masculinos turcos. O uso inconsciente ou excessivo de NS pode prejudicar o desempenho e representar um risco para a saúde do atleta de esportes de inverno.     Ultraviolet-assisted Fenton digestion of peach juice for the determination of nickel by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS)

    This study describes a simple and efficient UV–Fenton digestion of peach juice for nickel determination by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). Herein, a hybrid of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) and hydrogen peroxide were used to digest the peach juice with UV irradiation. The effects of experimental parameters were systematically optimized to obtain the best digestion conditions. A laboratory-scale closed-box isolated reactor setup was designed for the digestion experiments in this study. A low relative standard deviation of 6.8% for the lowest calibration standard established the digestion method’s good precision for replicate samples. Several peach juice samples were utilized in spike recovery experiments to validate the method’s applicability and accuracy. The recoveries calculated for the samples spiked at four concentrations were satisfactory (92–106%), indicating that this simple and effective analytical approach can be utilized as an alternative to conventional microwave digestion

    Opiniones de estudiantes de graduación en Enfermería sobre las condiciones de trabajo

    Introdução: a condições de trabalho: temas que abordam as condições de trabalho dos profissionais de enfermagem são amplamente discutidos, pois abordam assuntos como carga horária e salários, desenvolvimento profissional e plano de carreira, saúde e segurança ocupacional, condições físicas adequadas e equipamentos suficientes, trabalho em equipe e reconhecimento profissional, e gestão e liderança, que por sua vez influenciam na satisfação profissional e na qualidade da assistência. Fatores relacionados às condições de trabalho afetam também as opiniões de estudantes de enfermagem com relação à profissão, podendo gerar dúvidas e preocupações a respeito do futuro quando enfermeiros. Objetivo: conhecer as opiniões de estudantes de graduação em enfermagem que estudam em universidades brasileiras a respeito das condições de trabalho da enfermagem no Brasil. Método: trata-se de uma pesquisa descritiva, com abordagem qualitativa. Um total de 25 de estudantes de enfermagem participaram do estudo. Resultados: quatro temas foram identificados: 1) condições de trabalho da enfermagem; 2) fatores que ajudam a superar as condições de trabalho adversas; 3) reflexões sobre o futuro na profissão; 4) sugestões para melhorar as condições de trabalho da enfermagem. Conclusão: o apoio de administradores públicos e também o suporte institucional e de líderes de enfermagem foram apontados como fatores importantes para melhorar as condições no ambiente de trabalho da enfermagem. Com a melhora das condições de trabalho dos enfermeiros, estudantes de enfermagem também se sentirão mais motivados a se dedicarem ao curso e seguirem carreira na profissão.Introduction: Topics addressing the working conditions of nursing professionals are widely discussed, as they cover subjects such as workload and wages, professional development and career planning, occupational health and safety, adequate physical conditions and sufficient equipment, teamwork and professional recognition, and management and leadership, which in turn in fluence job satisfaction and quality of care. Factors related to working conditions also affect the opinions of nursing students regarding the profession, which can generate doubts and concerns about their future as nurses. Objective To know the opinions of undergraduate nursing students who study at Brazilian universities regarding the working conditions of nursing in Brazil. Method: This is a descriptive survey with a qualitative approach. A total of 25 nursing students participated in the study. Reader Four themes were identified: 1) nursing work conditions; 2) factors that help overcome adverse working conditions; 3) reflections on the future in the profession; 4) suggestions to improve nursing working conditions. Coodosioo: The support of public administrators and also institutional and nursing leaders' support were identified as important factors to improve conditions in the nursing work environment. With the improvement of nurses' working conditions, nursing students will also feel more motivated to dedicate themselves to the course and pursue a career in the profession.Introdoccioa: Los temas que tratan las condiciones laborales de los profesionales de enfermerfa son ampliamente discutidos, pues abordan asuntos como condiciones físicas adecuadas y equipamiento suficiente, trabajo en equipo y reconocimiento profesional, y gestión y liderazgo, que a tu vez infiuyen en Ia satisfacción profesional y Ia calidad de la atención.     Preparation and characterization studies of etodolac suppositories: investigation on oleaginous blends of Witepsol® H15

    Etodolac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that is categorized as a BCS class-II drug due to its low aqueous solubility and high permeability. Frequent dosing, extensive liver metabolism, and low dissolution rates are major limitations of etodolac. The present study focuses on the designing of novel suppository base blends for providing an effective delivery of etodolac. The oils (Caprylic/capric triglyceride, isopropyl isostearate, and isopropyl palmitate) were added to Witepsol® H15 to form suppository base blends. White, odorless, and torpedo-shaped suppositories were developed by using two parts of Witepsol® H15 and one part of the oil. All of the suppositories prepared with different blends were found uniform in weight and content. The mechanical strength of all suppositories was in an acceptable range for suppositories (2.0 – 3.8 kg/cm2). The suppositories showed a disintegration time between 13 and 19 minutes. First-order release kinetics were observed after the in vitro release studies. The suppository base blends released 85%- 90% of etodolac in the first hour while 60% of etodolac was released from Witepsol® H15 base alone. Prolonged drug release was achieved after 2 hours all of the formulations reached the plateau levels. The oil blends exhibited higher release percentages (96% - 99%) than plain Witepsol® H15 base (89%). Therefore novel suppository base blends could be a promising formulation ingredient for the etodolac suppositories

    A novel differential diagnosis algorithm for chronic lymphocytic leukemia using immunophenotyping with flow cytometry

    Introduction: The availability of a clinical decision algorithm for diagnosis of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) may greatly contribute to the diagnosis of CLL, particularly in cases with ambiguous immunophenotypes. Herein we propose a novel differential diagnosis algorithm for the CLL diagnosis using immunophenotyping with flow cytometry. Methods: The hierarchical logistic regression model (Backward LR) was used to build a predictive algorithmfor the diagnosis of CLL, differentiated from other lymphoproliferative disorders (LPDs). Results: A total of 302 patients, of whom 220 (72.8%) had CLL and 82 (27.2%), B-cell lymphoproliferative disorders other than CLL, were included in the study. The Backward LR model comprised the variables CD5, CD43, CD81, ROR1, CD23, CD79b, FMC7, sIg and CD200 in the model development process. The weak expression of CD81 and increased intensity of expression in markers CD5, CD23 and CD200 increased the probability of CLL diagnosis, (p < 0.05). The odd ratio for CD5, C23, CD200 and CD81 was 1.088 (1.050 - 1.126), 1.044 (1.012 - 1.077), 1.039 (1.007 - 1.072) and 0.946 (0.921 - 0.970) [95% C.I.], respectively. Our model provided a novel diagnostic algorithm with 95.27% of sensitivity and 91.46% of specificity. The model prediction for 97.3% (214) of 220 patients diagnosed with CLL, was CLL and for 91.5% (75) of 82 patients diagnosed with an LPD other than CLL, was others. The cases were correctly classified as CLL and others with a 95.7% correctness rate. Conclusions: Our model highlighting 4 markers (CD81, CD5, CD23 and CD200) provided high sensitivity and specificity in the CLL diagnosis and in distinguishing of CLL among other LPDs

    Radiologic evaluation of the fossa navicularis on dry skull: a comparative CBCT study

    Fossa navicularis (FN) is defined as bony depression that is not always present and is located anterior to the foramen magnum and pharyngeal tubercle on the inferior aspect of the basilar part of the occipital bone. It has been reported that FN can create an infection spread path from the pharynx to the intracranial structures. Therefore, the diagnosis of this variation is important. Although cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) diagnostic accuracy has mostly been verified in detection and quantification particularly on human skulls, there is no study comparing morphometric measurements between direct measurement on the skull and CBCT measurement. The main object of this study is to evaluate the presence of FN on dry bones and CBCT images of the same dry skull and to examine the morphometric and morphological features of this formation. Thirty-two random craniums that were made available for this study that did not have any fractures or deformities of the cranial base were examined. The sagittal diameter, transverse diameter, and depth of the FN was measured both directly on dry skulls and radiologically on CBCT images of dry skull. In addition, the shape of FN (SFN) was determined. FN was detected in 10 (31.25%) of 32 craniums examined with both modalities. It was determined that sagittal diameter of the FN, transverse diameter of the FN, depth of the FN, and the shape of FN did not show a statistically significant difference between the 2 measurements. Unlike the literature, FN was investigated on dry bones both directly and in CBCT images in this study. In contrast to previously thought the FN may be smaller according to this findings, and this small variation can be detected with CBCT images. According to this findings, it can be said that morphometric evaluations on CBCT are accurate and reliable, and CBCT is a safe method for clinical diagnosis and treatment

    An integrated solar-driven chlor-alkali system for hydrogen and chlorine production

    This paper deals with a review of the chlor-alkali process, an industrial application with significant promise for hydrogen production. In this process, the 2.6 MWh of power required for the operation of the system is met by an ingenious approach using a photovoltaic-based energy system. The research includes a comprehensive simulation of a chlor-alkali production system with the operating temperature set to 88°C using the Aspen Plus. The results demonstrate the remarkable potential of this system with a hydrogen production rate of 82.5 kg/h

    Evaluation of treatment and restoration preferences in deep carious teeth with various pulp exposure sizes: A questionnaire-based survey

    This study evaluated the management preferences in a deep carious vital tooth. A questionnaire was e-mailed to members of the Turkish Dental Association. The questionnaire included a photograph and radiographs of an extremely deep carious molar (#16) of a 30-year-old man suffering from cold and chewing sensitivity. The dentists were asked to choose treatments for pulp exposure of <1, 1-2, and ≥2 mm and a permanent restoration. Chi-squared test was used to analyse data (p < 0.05). 504 (4.84%) of 10 411 dentists responded. When the pulp exposure was <1 mm: direct pulp capping (84.9%); 1-2 mm: root canal treatment (49.6%); ≥2 mm: root canal treatment (85.7%) were the most preferred treatments. 69.6% of the respondents chose direct composite restorations. If the tooth would be an abutment, most respondents preferred root canal treatment, regardless of the perforation size. The extent of pulp exposure and the type of permanent restoration influenced the treatment decision-making process

    Variations in the course of the external branch of the superior laryngeal nerve and their importance in surgical procedures: an experimental cadaveric study

    Introduction: Injury of the external branch of the superior laryngeal nerve can cause a hoarse or weak voice due to the functional loss (dysergia) of the cricothyroid muscle. Defining the anatomical variations of the external branch of the superior laryngeal nerve and estimating the frequency of it, it makes crucial for surgical interventions. Aim: To reveal the topography of the external branch in the Anatolian population, to prevent injury of it during the surgical intervention in the anterior neck region. Materials and methods: Twenty-six bilateral hemilarynges (4 females, 22 males) were dissected. The morphometric and morphological features of the external branch were examined. The obtained results were compared statistically left and right. Results: Landmarks such as the thyroid gland and laryngeal prominence were determined for the detection of the external branch. The variations of the course of the external branch and the points of piercing the cricothyroid muscle or inferior constrictor pharyngeal muscle were evaluated. Discussion: Although safe approaches have been described for nerve protection during neck surgeries, it can expose injuries during preliminary surgery approaches as the nerve is thinner and more superficial than other branches of the vagus nerve. However, it can be detected more easily and safely during the surgical approach by knowing the defined anatomical landmarks and morphological variations of the external branch. Conclusion: The anatomical variations described can be a safe and important guide in surgical approaches to be applied in the anterior neck region
