The digitalisation of human resource management is a process which is in harmony with innovations in technology. Digital applications in human resource management allow us to work faster, more accurately and more effectively. Along with digitalisation, there has also been a change in the competencies expected of HR professionals. It also has an impact on the well-being of employees. The aim of the study is to identify digital human resource applications in organisations, to present the required competencies of HR professionals in digitalisation, to examine changes in these competencies, and to investigate the impact of digital transformation in HR on employees' wellbeing. In this context, using the qualitative research method, in-depth interviews are conducted with 40 human resource professionals working in different sectors in İstanbul. The results of the research revealed that digital transformation in human resources applications is extremely limited, and technical competencies are the most important among the required employee competencies. Furthermore, it is shown that remote working and digitalisation in human resources improve employees' well-being by making their work more efficient and allowing them to save time, but it also has a negative impact on their well-being due to flexible working hours and less face-to-face interactions. Since no study has been found in the national literature, it is expected that the study would contribute to the identification of digital human resource applications, to highlight the importance of HR professionals' competencies and to emphasize the factors affecting the well-being of HR employees in the digital HRM process. The study aims to assess the oral and dental health of children aged 6-12 with special care needs (SCN) and to identify the primary challenges and difficulties faced by this demographic group. This study, which was applied to the same population with one-year interval, has received the necessary permissions from relevant institutions and organizations and has included special education centers in Kilis province. 130 children between the ages of 6-12 years with SCN and their parents participated in this research. Surveys were conducted with the parents to assess the children's general health, oral and dental hygiene habits, dietary habits, and accessibility. The oral health levels of the children with special care needs were screened, and Streptococcus mutans levels were measured. The study included one-on-one oral hygiene education and information sessions for the parents and children with special care needs. As part of the education, each child received a toothbrush and toothpaste. During the detailed oral examination of the children, findings such as previous trauma, erosion, bruxism (teeth grinding), the presence of Streptococcus mutans, and dental plaque were recorded along with motor-cooperation and the presence of existing cavities. The children in the study group were re-examined in detail after one year to reassess the initial findings. In addition, The impact of the education provided after the first examination on the oral health of children with special care needs was re-evaluated with a new survey, and all data were recorded. In children with SCN, it was observed that the rate of brushing teeth more than once a day was 21.1% at the first examination. In these children, 68.46% had a very high plaque score, 83.3% were Streptococcus mutans positive, and total PUFA/pufa values were detected in 78.5%, indicating insufficient oral hygiene. It was determined that 65.4% of the children with SCN did not benefit from oral and dental health services, and their access to health services was limited. In the follow-up study after one year; In the control xiv study one year later, as a result of the education given to parents and children with SCN, an increase in tooth brushing frequency was found compared to the first survey, and the rate of brushing more than once a day was found to be 40.8%. Additionally, PUFA/pufa index and Streptococus mutans level decreased statistically significantly between children with SCN who switched to the new brush and those who did not (p=0.001). This study holds an important place in providing information about children with special care needs and their parents. Although limited access to oral and dental health at an early age is limited in children with low socioeconomic status and children with SCD, education has been found to be effective in the long term. Providing regular dental check-ups for children with SCN and education related to oral and dental health for these children and their parents contribute to improving their dietary habits and overall oral health

The influence of nursing teamwork on the quality of care

    No full text
Nursing is a profession inherently linked to teamwork. Collaboration and coordination among nursing team members impact the quality of care provided in healthcare institutions. This review aimed to analyze and discuss the influence of nursing teamwork on the quality of care. It is an integrative review. The search for original articles of primary research was conducted in the second week of February 2024, in the Scopus database. The review was guided by the following question: “What is the literature’s perspective on the influence of nursing teamwork on the quality of care?” The terms used were: “nursing,” “teamwork,” and “care.” Original research articles published in English in scientific journals within the last 10 years, including nurses as participants, whose full texts were available online, and that met the review’s objectives were included. Initially, 14 articles were found, of which six were included in this review. The selected articles were assessed using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT). It was identified that the way nursing teams work varies according to the department; however, nursing teamwork always impacts the quality of care, regardless of the sector. It was also observed that role and function ambiguities, difficulties in adapting to changes, exhausting work schedules, poor communication, professional training failures, inadequate leadership styles and nursing shortages are among the obstacles to forming cohesive nursing teams. In conclusion, nursing professionals should receive education to work as a team. Additionally, nurse managers play fundamental roles in developing healthy work environments that promote the formation and maintenance of cohesive nursing teams. It is important to note that the leadership styles adopted by nurse managers guide the attitudes of other team members, as nurse managers are role models for their followers. Thus, collaboration, effective communication, and coordination among nursing team members are strongly influenced by nurse managers

Aim: To examine the relationship between perceived social support level and depression, anxiety and stress in pregnant women diagnosed with foetal anomaly. Design/Methods: This descriptive and correlational study was conducted in an advanced prenatal evaluation unit of a university hospital between December 2021 and May 2022. The study data collected from 131 pregnant women through a personal information form, depression, anxiety and stress scale (DASS-42) and multidimensional scale of perceived social support (MSPSS). Results: Most of the pregnant women were in the second trimester of pregnancy, and more than half had been advised by a healthcare professional to terminate their pregnancy. Overall, the pregnant women reported moderate levels of social support, while their depression, anxiety and stress levels varied. There was a weak negative correlation between perceived social support from family, friends and multidimensional sources with stress, but the effect rate was low. Conclusion: Most pregnant women diagnosed with foetal anomaly have normal levels of depression, stress and anxiety. There is a weak negative correlation between perceived social support and stress, with family and friend support affecting stress levels at a low rate. Professional support should be provided, and both the woman's mental health and social support mechanisms must be evaluated. Impact: This study highlights the importance of social support in managing stress among pregnant women with foetal anomalies. While most women had normal levels of depression, anxiety and stress, increased social support from family and friends was shown to reduce stress. The findings underscore the need for healthcare professionals to assess and strengthen mental health and social support systems in this vulnerable population, informing interventions to improve psychosocial outcomes. Reporting Method: This descriptive and correlational study adhered to the CONSORT guidelines for reporting non-randomised trials. Patient or Public Contribution: No patient or public contribution

Transfer learning in severity classification in Alzheimer's : A benchmark comparative study on deep neural networks

    No full text
Alzheimer's disease has become a condition of the brain that progresses over time and impacts a significant number of individuals worldwide. Early diagnosis, timely intervention and management of this disease process are very important in Alzheimer's disease. With regard to this study, we propose a transfer learning based early detection approach for Alzheimer's disease using Moderate Demented, Mild Demented, No Demented and Very Mild Demented classification sets. The proposed approach utilizes transfer learning based on the use of a deep neural network model that has been trained to extract features from brain imaging data. To evaluate the performance in transfer learning, a dataset of 6,400 images from brain MRI scans is augmented using data augmentation techniques and used in various convolutional neural network models the like VGG-19, Resnet-50, DenseNet-121, Inception-V3, VGG-16. The results are planned to show that these models achieve high sensitivity, specificity and high accuracy in detecting early signs of Alzheimer's disease. The study also emphasizes these advantages of using transfer methods of learning for early Alzheimer's detection by comparing it with various other deep learning models. The findings of this research suggest that transfer learning-based approaches can aid in the early detection of Alzheimer's disease., which affects millions of people, and offer a practical solution to classify cognitive impairment. With the proposed approach, it is shown that by helping clinicians to detect individuals at risk of Alzheimer's at an early stage, it will be possible to provide timely intervention and, in fact, better patient care. In terms of more effective applicability in clinical applications, the proposed approach can be applied to different and larger datasets and populations to make improvements and provide convenience to clinicians and patients. The best success rate of the models we used is achieved on the VGG19, RESNET50 KNN model with 99 percent

Mainstream economics’ war with the environment: counter-critiques from heterodox economics and Islamic economics

    No full text
Purpose This study aims to present the perspectives of heterodox economics and Islamic economics on environmental economics, as an alternative to mainstream economics, which takes economic growth as its main objective and argues that environmental problems will largely disappear when economic growth is achieved. Design/methodology/approach In this study, there was no intention to conduct a detailed analysis of heterodox economic models and Islamic economics. Instead, the approaches to the “environment,” which can be considered as an urgent need of the planet, were evaluated, and the inadequate proposals of the mainstream economics’ environmental approach were theoretically criticized and heterodox economics and Islamic economics were proposed as an alternative model. Findings Heterodox and Islamic economics offer alternative models of development prioritizing social and ecological justice to address environmental problems, which is in contrast to mainstream economics’ narrow focus on market mechanisms and individual rationality. Thus, engaging in more dialogue in the context of the environment is inevitable for both schools, considering the vast geography inhabited by Muslims and the proposed heterodox economic policies, and moreover, these approaches are modeled for the first time. Originality/value This article presents a synthesis of Islamic economics and heterodox thinking in contrast to mainstream economic policy, highlighting their similarities and differences and providing a more comprehensive understanding of the complexities and potential solutions of environmental problems. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this approach has not been previously explored, making it an original contribution to the literature

    No full text
Atomoxetine is a special pharmaceutics used for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. It finds application in various age groups, including children, adolescents, and adults. Ultra high-performance liquid chromatographic technique (UHPLC) is an exceptional technique and provides swift, uncomplicated, and highly sensitive results. Such a technique has been formulated to analyse atomoxetine levels in both breast milk and human plasma. Magnetic micro solid phase extraction is simple, rapid, efficient, and precise method which was applied prior to chromatographic separation. In this method, magnetic adsorbents in the form of Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles were employed, and the adsorption process underwent optimization. Chromatographic separation was carried out using a reversed-phase C18 analytical column (5 μm × 4.6 mm × 150 mm) with a mobile phase composed of monobasic potassium dihydrogen orthophosphate (pH=6.8) and acetonitrile (50:50 v/v). The flow rate was set at 0.8 mL/min, and investigation was performed using DAD at 215±2 nm. The method's linearity was evaluated within the range of 0.5–20 μg/mL, achieving a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.999. Validation of the method encompassed accuracy, reproducibility, precision, robustness, specificity, quantification limits, and detection limits, adhering to EMA guidelines. The limit of detection (LOD) was found to be 0.03, while the limit of quantification (LOQ) was 0.11 μg/mL for both matrices. Interday and intraday relative standard deviation (RSD) values were determined to be below 2.5% for both assays. The suggested method is deemed to be a useful candidate for the conventional quantification of atomoxetine in human spiked breast milk and plasma

Kronik koroner sendrom ve stabil angina’da koroner arter kıvrımlılığının klinik önemi: Gensini skorlarından elde edilen görüşler

    No full text
OBJECTIVE This study investigated the clinical significance of coronary artery tortuosity (CAT) in chronic coronary syndrome (CCS) by using Gensini scores. METHODS The retrospective single-center study involved 388 patients undergoing coronary angiography for chest pain, excluding those with acute coronary syndromes or prior coronary interventions. Demographic, clinical, and angiographic data were collected and categorized based on the presence or absence of CAT. Categorical variables were analyzed using appropriate statistical tests, with significance set at p < 0.05. RESULTS Analysis of 388 patients revealed that CAT was associated with older age (p <0.001), female gender (p <0.001), lower smoking (19.3% vs. 29.6%, p=0.025), and hypertension (53.5% vs. 38.7%, p=0.05). There was a slightly higher, nearly significant, prevalence of diabetes in the CAT group (22.8% vs. 14.5%, p=0.051). Furthermore, CAT correlated with diastolic dysfunction (p=0.04) and inversely with coronary atherosclerosis severity, as indicated by lower Gensini scores correlating with higher CAT scores (p=0.039 and p=0.049, respectively). Univariate analysis confirmed CAT's association with older age (p <0,001), female gender (p <0,001), hypertension (p=0,004), diabetes (p=0,039), diastolic dysfunction (p=0,003), and Gensini score (p=0,012). Multivariate analysis further identified significant correlations with age (p=0,001), female gender (p <0,001), and Gensini score (p=0,049). CONCLUSIONS Our findings indicate that older age and female gender predict CAT development in CCS patients. The lower Gensini scores associated with CAT may possibly be due to a reduced atherosclerotic plaque burden in these patients. Further research into this relationship could inform the development of treatment and management strategies for coronary atherosclerosis.
