Pioneer anatomist of his time: Raymond de Vieussens (1641–1715)
A little town called Vieussens in the French department of Rouergue is where Raymond de Vieussens was born in 1641 (Fig. 1). The exact year of Vieussen’s birth is uncertain. According to some historians, it might have happened in 1633 or 1635 [1, 2]. Early in his career, Vieussens enrolled in Rodez, a tiny city in Southern France, as a philosophy student. Then, he subsequently relocated to Montpellier, where he started his exciting career in anatomical research and medicine at the renowned university that bears the city’s name. Vieussens’ experience as a medical graduate from the University of Montpellier helped him develop his profession as a passion ate anatomical researcher. This prestigious institution was linked to anatomical luminaries like Jean Pecquet, Andreas Vesalius, and Jacobus Sylvius. The role of technology management capabilities in building organizational resilience capacity and product innovativeness: Evidence from the Turkish ICT industry
The aim of this paper is to explore if technology management capabilities (TMC) lead to more resilient and innovative firms. As resilience is a desired attribute for firms in today’s disruptive business world, in this paper, taking the dynamic capabilities view, we argue the mediating role of organizational resilience capacity (ORC) between TMC and product innovativeness. We also explore the role of technological turbulence in moderating the relationship between TMC and ORC. By developing and testing hypotheses via partial least squares structural equation modeling with SmartPLS 3, we collect data through a self-administered questionnaire from 192 firms operating in the Turkish information and communications technologies (ICT) industry. The results show that the capacity for resilience mediated the relationship between TMC and product innovativeness and technological turbulence moderated the relationship between TMC and ORC. This first study of the literature to investigate the role of ORC in the relationship between TMC and product innovativeness also seeks to understand whether TMC help organizations build the capacity for resilience. This study also examines the impact of technological turbulence, which is one of the important contextual factors in the relationship between TMC and ORC
The variations of osseous structure of the internal acoustic canal: an anatomical study
Objectives: The internal acoustic meatus is an osseous canal that connects the inner ear to the posterior cranial fossa. It is located in the petrous portion of the temporal bone. A thin cribriform osseous plate known as the fundus is situated at the lateral end of the canal. This study assesses the structural and numerical variations of the fundus formations. Methods: Fifty-four temporal bones of unknown gender and age were examined with the surgical microscope. Results: The temporal bones analyzed were 46.2% right-sided and 53.7% left-sided. Only one temporal bone had two parallel transverse crests, while three had a single anterior crest that split into two branches posteriorly. The number of foramina at the transverse crest varied, with 29.6% having none, 48.1% having a single foramen, and 22.2% having several foramina. An anterior crest structure was seen in 53.7% of the temporal bones, with 5% having a slightly constricted entry to the facial canal. In cases with a single nerve foramen, 48.1% had one, while 51.8% had more than one, including examples with three or four foramina. A crest was found between the foramina of the single nerve in 7% of patients. Furthermore, a crest between the saccular nerve foramen and the high fiber foramina was seen in 25.9% of cases, and 5% had two saccular nerve foramina. Conclusion: We think that revealing the anatomical, structural and numerical variations in the fundus will be useful in explaining the disease-symptom relationship
Effect of adding soybean oil to diesel fuel on engine characteristics
Biodiesel fuels are seen as an important resource due to the environmental damage caused by exhaust emissions from the use of fossil fuels, the increase in global warming and the rise in oil prices. As an alternative, the use of biodiesel by blending certain percentages of biodiesel into diesel fuel is preferred due to both sustainability and some advantages. In this study, 10% soybean oil was added to the fuel used in a single-cylinder diesel engine and the changes in engine power, fuel consumption and exhaust emissions were experimentally investigated. According to the results of the study, it was observed that the engine power was almost the same with the addition of soybean oil to the diesel fuel, but there was an increase in exhaust emissions with some increase in fuel consumption. For this reason, it is clear that further experimental studies should be carried out by adding soybean oil with different characteristics and proportions to be used in diesel engines

Üniversitelerde kalite yönetim süreçleri, eğitim, araştırma ve hizmet alanlarında sürdürülebilir başarıyı sağlamak açısından büyük önem taşımaktadır. Bu süreçler, kurumun belirlediği standartlara uygunluk, sürekli iyileştirme ve öğrenci ile akademik Personelin memnuniyetini artırmayı hedeflemektedir. Ayrıca, kaynakların etkin kullanımını sağlarken, üniversitenin ulusal ve uluslararası arenada rekabet gücünü artmasına da katkıda bulunmaktadır. Üniversite kütüphanelerinde kalite yönetim süreçlerine iyileştirmek için yapak zekâ büyük bir potansiyele sahiptir. Kütüphane kullanım verilerini analiz ederek hangi hizmet ve kaynakların daha çok tercih edildiğini tespit edebileceği gibi geri bildirimleri hızlıca değerlendirerek hizmet kalitesi de artırabileceği düşünülmektedir... Mekânsal analizlerle kütüphanenin en çok kullanılan alanlarının belirlenip buna göre öneriler sunabileceği, akılı öneri sistemleri ve erişim optimizasyonu ile kullanıcıların ihtiyaçlarına göre kişiselleştirilmiş hizmetler sunarak kütüphane hizmetlerinin daha verimli hale getirilebileceği öngörülmektedi
Zekânın dijitalleşmesi: Yapay zekâ kütüphaneciliği
Amaç Bu çalışma, yapay zekâ teknolojilerinin kütüphaneler ve kütüphanecilik mesleği üzerindeki etkilerini incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Özellikle yapay zekânın bilgi erişim süreçleri, kullanıcı hizmetleri ve veri yönetimi gibi alanlardaki katkıları analiz edilerek, kütüphanelerde yapay zekâ kullanımının sağlayacağı avantajlar ve olası riskler değerlendirilmektedir. Aynı zamanda, yapay zekâ kütüphaneciliğinin meslekî yetkinlik gereksinimleri tanımlanarak, gelecekteki kütüphanecilerin hangi beceri ve bilgileri edinmeleri gerektiği ortaya konulmaktadır. Yöntem Bu poster çalışmasında nitel araştırma yöntemleri kullanılarak geniş kapsamlı bir literatür taraması gerçekleştirilmiştir. Literatürdeki çalışmalar ve raporlar incelenmiş, yapay zekâ kütüphaneciliği ile ilgili disiplinler arası kaynaklar analiz edilmiştir. Yapay zekânın kütüphanelerdeki kullanım alanları ile ilgili yayınlar taranarak, yapay zekâ kütüphanecisinin sahip olması gereken yetkinlikler belirlenmiştir. Bu bağlamda, yapay zekâ kullanımına yönelik kütüphanecilerin edinmesi gereken nitelikler ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Sonuç Yapay zekâ teknolojileri, kütüphanelerdeki bilgi erişim süreçlerini hızlandırmakta, veri yönetiminde etkinliği artırmakta ve kullanıcı hizmetlerini daha özelleştirilmiş hâle getirmektedir. Yapay zekâ kütüphanecileri, yalnızca teknik becerilere sahip olmakla kalmamalı, aynı zamanda kullanıcı odaklı hizmet sunabilen, yaratıcı ve yenilikçi düşünce yapısına sahip profesyoneller olmalıdır. Ayrıca, kütüphanelerde yapay zekâ uygulamalarının yaygınlaşması, veri güvenliği ve gizlilik konularında yeni sorumluluklar doğurmuştur. Yapay zekânın önyargılı bilgi üretme potansiyeli gibi etik sorunlar, yapay zekâ tabanlı hizmetlerin yaygınlaşmasıyla daha da önem kazanmaktadır. Değerlendirme Yapay zekânın kütüphane hizmetlerine entegrasyonu, kütüphanelerin bilgi yönetimi ve kullanıcı odaklı hizmet sunma kabiliyetlerini büyük ölçüde artırmıştır. Ancak bu süreç, kütüphanecilerin etik sorumluluklarını daha da genişletmiş ve veri güvenliği gibi konularda daha dikkatli olmalarını gerektirmiştir. Yapay zekâ kütüphaneciliği, mesleğin geleneksel rollerini dönüştürerek, kütüphanecilerin hem teknolojik hem de sosyal becerilere sahip olmalarını zorunlu kılmaktadır. Bu bağlamda, yapay zekâ uygulamalarının yarattığı etik ikilemler ve olumsuz etkilerin, sürekli olarak gözden geçirilmesi ve yönetilmesi gerekmektedir. Bu dönüşüm sürecinde, kütüphanelerin teknolojik yeniliklere uyum sağlarken kullanıcı odaklı hizmetleri koruma çabaları dengeli bir şekilde yürütülmelidir
Comparison of ocular posterior segment parameters in the pediatric population with migraine without aura and tension-type headache
Background. This study aims to compare the posterior ocular structure parameters in children with migraine without aura (MWA), tension-type headache (TTH), and a healthy control group. Methods. The study included 31 patients with MWA, 29 patients with TTH, and 38 healthy controls between 6 and 18 years of age. For all participants, the detailed eye examination and measurements including peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (pRNFL) thickness, central macular thickness (CMT), subfoveal choroidal thickness (SCT), macular vessel densities and foveal avascular zone (FAZ) parameters measured by optical coherence tomography (OCT) and OCT-angiography (OCTA), were obtained from the patient files. Results. The mean age was 12.1±3.3 years in MWA patients, 12.4±2.8 years in TTH patients, and 11.9±3.8 years in the healthy controls (p=0.844). Among the groups, the mean pRNFL thickness, CMT, and SCT values were lowest in the MWA group. However, this difference was not statistically significant (p=0.621, p=0.854 and p=0.201, respectively). The mean and four-quadrant (superior, inferior, temporal, nasal) pRNFL thicknesses, the CMT, and the SCT were not statistically significant between the groups (p=0.621, p=0.500, p=0.186, p=0.565, p=0.744, p=0.854 and p=0.201, respectively). The macular vascular densities were lower in MWA patients than in the other two groups, and there was a statistically significant difference between the groups only in the nasal quadrant of the deep retinal capillary plexus (p = 0.014). There were also no statistically significant differences between the groups in the superficial and deep FAZ area parameters (p=0.652 and p=0.985). Conclusion. This study suggested that differential diagnosis between MWA and TTH can be difficult in childhood, as these conditions, which can present with ocular symptoms, may also be characterized by changes in posterior segment parameters. Long-term studies incorporating OCT-A in larger patient populations may provide valuable insights into retinal changes associated with these two distinct headache spectrums

The protective role of vitamins C and E in steroid-induced femoral head osteonecrosis: An experimental study in rats
Objectives: This study aimed to determine whether vitamin C (VC) and vitamin E (VE) can effectively protect the femoral head and reduce the risk of developing osteonecrosis in rats that have been treated with steroids.Materials and methods: The study was conducted on 30 young adult male Sprague-Dawley rats (mean weight: 356 +/- 18 g; range, 330 to 375 g), which were randomly assigned to one of five groups. The control group received saline solution, while the other groups were given lipopolysaccharide/methylprednisolone (LPS/MPS) to induce osteonecrosis. Three groups in which osteonecrosis was induced were also intraperitoneally administered either VC, VE, or both once a day for four weeks. Intracardiac blood samples were taken at the end of the fourth week for biochemical examination, and the rats were then sacrificed under general anesthesia. After sacrification, right femurs were removed for histopathological, immunohistochemical, and radiologic examinations.Results: The results showed that the mean trabecular number increased significantly in the VC+VE group. There was a substantial decrease observed in the mean trabecular separation within the LPS/MPS group compared to the control group, although trabecular separation decreased in all three vitamin groups compared to the LPS/MPS group. The surface area/bone volume was significantly increased in the VC+VE group compared to the LPS/MPS group. Histological, immunohistochemical, and radiological examinations showed that the administration of VC and VE significantly reduced oxidative stress, inflammation, and microvascular dysfunction in rats with steroid-induced femoral head osteonecrosis.Conclusion: This study suggests that VC, VE, and particularly VC+VE have a protective effect on the femoral head in rats with steroid-induced femoral head osteonecrosis. These findings may lead to new treatment options for patients
Work engagement among nurses in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic: A systematic review
BackgroundDespite nurses receiving education on how to respond during crises, the stress and demands arising from unprecedented situations, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, may affect their work engagement. AimTo appraise and synthesize studies examining work engagement among nurses in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. MethodsIt is a systematic review in which three databases were searched. Critical appraisal tools and PRISMA guidelines were used. Content analysis was performed. Ethical considerationsEthical approval was not required for this systematic review. FindingsA total of 21 studies were included. The results were classified into three categories: (1) levels and meanings of work engagement, (2) the relationship of work engagement with various factors, and (3) measures to enhance work engagement. ConclusionThe review revealed that nurses’ work engagement varied from moderate to high. Factors such as education level and work schedule flexibility influenced their engagement. Positive associations were found between work engagement and job satisfaction, intention to stay, and organizational support, while stress and workload showed negative relationships. The crucial role of health policymakers, hospital administrators, and nurse managers in acting ethically, creating favorable working conditions and fostering nurses’ work engagement was emphasized
