Establishment location selection in hospitals: Literature review
Hastane yeri seçiminde en uygun yeri bulabilmek adına birçok yöntem kullanılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, literatürde yer alan hastane kuruluş yeri seçimi üzerine yapılan derleme çalışmaları incelenmiştir. Çalışmalarda sıklıkla kullanılan karar verme teknikleri ve dikkate alınan kriterler ele alınmıştır. Derleme sonucunda, hastane kuruluş yeri seçimi çalışmalarında en çok tercih edilen karar verme yönteminin AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) olduğu görülmüştür. İkinci sıklıkla kullanılan yöntem GIS (Geographical Information Systems), takip eden yöntemler ise TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution), MCA (Multi‐Criteria Analysis) ve GRA (Gray Relational Analysis) olarak belirlenmiştir. Çalışmalarda en fazla önemsenen kriterin erişilebilirlik, ikincisinin maliyet olduğu anlaşılmıştır. Diğer önde gelen kriterler ise güvenli çevre, demografik yapı, nüfus yoğunluğu olarak saptanmıştır. Ağırlıklı olarak lite-ratürde son 5 yıldaki çalışmalar incelenerek, hastane yer seçimi kararı vermek isteyen karar vericiler için, kullanılacak yöntemler ve kriterler konusunda öneride bulunarak, verilecek kararın bilimsel temellere dayandırılması bu çalışmanın katkısı olacaktır.Many methods are used to find the most suitable location for hospital location selection. In this study, review studies on hospital location selection in the literature are examined. The decision-making techniques frequently used in the studies and the criteria considered are discussed. As a result of the review, it is seen that the most preferred decision-making method in hospital site selection studies is AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process). The second most frequently used method is GIS (Geographical Information Systems), followed by TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution), MCA (Multi-Criteria Analysis) and GRA (Gray Relational Analysis). It was found that the most important criterion was accessibility, followed by cost. Other prominent criteria are safe environment, demographic structure and population density. By analyzing the studies in the last 5 years in the literature, this study will contribute to the decisionmakers who want to make a hospital site selection decision by suggesting the methods and criteria to be used and basing the decision to be made on scientific foundations
Yapay zekâ ve araştırma araçları
Amaç Yapay zekâ (YZ) teknolojisi, birçok alanda olduğu gibi akademik araştırmaların yürütülmesinde de pratik ve etkili çözümler sunmaktadır. YZ; literatür taraması, uygun kaynaklara erişim ve bu kaynakların yönetimi, alıntı tespiti, gramer ve üslup kontrolü, araştırma planlaması ve dil çevirisi gibi süreçlerde araştırmacılara nitelikli ve sistematik destekler sağlayabilmektedir. Bu bağlamda, mevcut YZ teknolojilerinin sunduğu araştırma araçlarının çeşitliliğini ve işlevselliğini tanımak, araştırmacılar açısından büyük önem taşımaktadır. Bu poster çalışması, yapay zekâ teknolojileri tarafından sunulan araştırma araçlarının tanıtılması ve araştırmacılar için potansiyel katkılarının ortaya konulmasını amaçlamaktadır. Yöntem Bu çalışmada, bilimsel araştırmalarda kullanılan ve destek alınan yapay zekâ araçlarına yönelik kapsamlı bir literatür taraması gerçekleştirilmiş, bu araçlardan faydalanan araştırmacıların değerlendirmeleri incelenmiş ve ilgili yapay zekâ teknolojileri test edilmiştir. Çalışmanın ilk aşamasında, araştırmacıların bilimsel yayınlarında yapay zekâ araçlarından hangi yönlerde faydalandıkları araştırılmıştır. İkinci aşamada ise, çalışma süreçlerinde hangi tür yapay zekâ araçlarını kullandıkları tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Değerlendirme Yapay zekâ; Literatür taraması, kaynaklara erişim, kaynakların yönetimi, alıntı tespiti, dilbilgisi ve üslup kontrolü, araştırma planlaması ve dil çevirisi gibi süreçlerde araştırmacılara destek sağlamaktadır. Bu durum, sadece zaman tasarrufu sağlamakla kalmayıp, aynı zamanda hata payını düşürerek daha güvenilir sonuçlar elde edilmesine de olanak tanımaktadır. Araştırmacılar, bu sayede daha önce gözden kaçan ayrıntıları, hataları veya bağlantıları keşfetme fırsatı bulmaktadır. Sonuç YZ araçlarının, araştırmacılara farklı süreçlerde destek sunabildiği görülmektedir. Karmaşık veri kümelerinin analiz edilmesi, belirli sonuçlara ulaşılması ve tahmin modellerinin geliştirilmesi, makine öğrenimi algoritmaları ve doğal dil işleme gibi teknolojiler bu araçların sunduğu başlıca avantajlar arasında yer almaktadır. Bununla birlikte, yapay zekâ araçlarının kullanımı, yalnızca süreci hızlandırmakla kalmayıp, insan önyargılarını ve hata risklerini azaltarak daha tarafsız ve objektif sonuçların elde edilmesine de olanak tanımaktadır. Özellikle tahmin modelleri ve simülasyonlar, karmaşık veri setlerinden daha isabetli sonuçlar çıkarılmasına olanak tanımakta, bu da bilimsel bilginin ilerlemesine katkı sağlamaktadır
Unravelling the potential of magnetic nanoparticles: a comprehensive review of design and applications in analytical chemistry
The study of nanoparticles has emerged as a prominent research field, offering a wide range of applications across various disciplines. With their unique physical and chemical properties within the size range of 1–100 nm, nanoparticles have garnered significant attention. Among them, magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) exemplify promising super-magnetic characteristics, especially in the 10–20 nm size range, making them ideal for swift responses to applied magnetic fields. In this comprehensive review, we focus on MNPs suitable for analytical purposes. We investigate and classify them based on their analytical applications, synthesis routes, and overall utility, providing a detailed literature summary. By exploring a diverse range of MNPs, this review offers valuable insights into their potential application in various analytical scenarios
Investigation of the effect of different marination methods on organoleptic quality of beef
Bu araştırmanın amacı farklı marinasyon yöntemlerinin dana etinin organoleptik özellikleri üzerine etkilerinin araştırılmasıdır. Bu çalışmada, İstanbul ilinde yerleşik bir marketten satın alınan 2 yaşı geçmemiş dana eti kullanılmıştır. Antrikot olarak bilinen bölgeden elde edilen etler, soğan suyu, ananas suyu ve süt içinde 4°C’de 6 saat marine edilmiştir. Marine edilmiş parçalar 10 dk ortam sıcaklığında bekletilerek, yüzey sıcaklığı 174°C olan ızgarada merkez sıcaklığı 55°C olana kadar ızgara tekniğiyle pişirilmiştir. Örneklerde, pişirme öncesi (marinasyon öncesi ve sonrası) ve pişirme sonrası; pH, ağırlık kayıpları ile su aktivitesi değerleri ölçümü yapılmıştır. Altı saat süren işlemde, kontrol örneğine göre soğan ve ananas sıvısı ile marine edilen etlerde pH düşüşü yaşanırken, süt sıvısı ile marine edilen etlerde pH artışı gözlemlenmiştir. Üç farklı marinat sıvısı ile marinasyon işlemi yapılmış etin ortalama duyusal analiz puanları süt marinatı için %23,9±1,7; soğan marinatı için %30,7±2,7; ananas marinatı için %15,5±4,5 bulunmuştur (f=92.1077; p=0,0001). Yapılan analizler sonucunda dana antrikot etinin ızgara pişirme işleminde minimum ağırlık kaybı ve maksimum nem aktivitesi açısından ve duyusal analiz sonuçlarının olumlu olması yönünden süt ile marine edilmesinin daha uygun olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.The objective of our research is to investigate the effects of different marination methods on the organoleptic properties of beef. In our study, we utilized beef from cattle not exceeding 2 years of age, which was procured from a local market in Istanbul. The cuts obtained from the region known as “sirloin” were marinated in onion juice, pineapple juice, and milk at a temperature of 4°C for 6 hours. After marination, the marinated cuts were allowed to stand at room temperature for 10 minutes and were then grilled at an ambient temperature of 174°C until the core temperature reached 55°C using a grilling technique. For the samples, pH levels, weight losses, and water activity values were measured both before and after cooking, including before and after marination. During the 6-hour marination process, a decrease in pH was observed in the case of meats marinated with onion and pineapple liquids in comparison to the control sample, while an increase in pH was noted in the case of meats marinated with milk. The average sensory analysis scores for meats marinated with three different marinades were found to be 23.9% ± 1.7 for milk marinade, 30.7% ± 2.7 for onion marinade, and 15.5% ± 4.5 for pineapple marinade (f=92.1077; p=0.0001). As a result of the analyses, it can be concluded that marinating beef with milk is more suitable for achieving minimal loss and maximum moisture activity during the grilling process, and it also yields favorable results in sensory analysis
Optimization of properties of iron oxide nanoparticles synthized by solgel method
In this study, the effects of pH value and capping agent on the morphology, pore structure and size of iron oxide nanoparticles were investigated systematically to obtain optimum properties. Iron oxide nanoparticles were synthized by sol-gel method. Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) was used as capping agent by adding to the solution at 70 °C. After the drying process the powders were heat treated at 250 °C for 2 h under air atmosphere. Particle size of each sample was determined by using ZetaSizer instrument. X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique was employed for structural properties of iron oxide nanoparticles, FE-SEM (Field Emmision Scanning Electron Microscopy) was used to analyze the morphology of the powders. Magnetic properties of the nanoparticles were measured by VSM (Vibrating Sample Magnetometer) under air atmosphere at room temperature. Spesific surface area, porosity and pore size distribution of iron oxide nanoparticles were calculated by Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) instrument. The results indicated that formation of the γ-Fe2O3 is sensitive to either the pH value of the solution or the capping agent, for the uncoated samples when pH value of the solution is adjusted to 2.5, α-Fe2O3 phase was detected as a single phase. When the solution was neutralized, γ-Fe2O3 was formed as the major phase in the microstructure, γ-Fe2O3 phase was formed as the major phase in the PVA coated samples leading to highest value of 50.33 emu/g measured in the sample of PVA8.5. For the PVA coated samples, specific surface area is in the range of 15.73 – 20.81 m2/g, the intervals of pore volume and average pore width are increased to 0.099 – 0.121 cm3/g and 23.19 – 23.07 nm respectively
Label-based content evaluation of bottled mineral water sold in Turkish and swedish markets
Bottled mineral waters (BMWs) have great potential to modulate optimal health with content. Their contents may vary according to various criteria, such as country, manufacturer, source, and industrial process (1). Due to its location, Türkiye is among the countries rich in natural mineral waters. Therefore, the mineral content has the potential to be higher than that of sparkling mineral waters, especially in European countries. Although the content of sparkling mineral waters sold in European countries’ markets was frequently investigated in the literature (1-2), there was limited data regard ing the contents of mineral water in Türkiye. This study aims to compare the label-based content of bottled sparkling mineral water in the Swedish market with that of their counterparts in Türkiye. In this context, the sam ples were selected from supermarkets in Istanbul, Türkiye (n=21), and Umeå, Sweden (n=18). Sweetened carbonated beverages were excluded from the study. Concentrations of bicarbonate, sodium, potassium, calcium, fluoride, chloride, magnesium, and sulfate were obtained from the labels on the bot tles. Descriptive statistics, normality, and Welch ANOVA tests were applied via Jamovi software (version 2.6.2). The range levels of mineral content in bot tles vary reasonably widely in both countries. The most remarkable differ ence in median mineral content was found for magnesium, with 3.1 mg/L in Sweden and 62.1 mg/L in Türkiye. All mineral concentrations except sul fate and fluoride were significantly higher in mineral waters in the Turkish market than in Sweden (p<0.05). Fluoride concentration in Swedish BMWs was significantly higher than in Türkiye (p<0.05). The vast range of mineral contents in BMWs can be a concern for hypertension, kidney, and urological diseases. Therefore, label-based interventions, legal regulations, and legis lation should provide consumer and manufacturer awareness. Considering the limited data in this study, more comprehensive studies on the contents of natural mineral waters should be planned in the future
Artificial intelligence-based fair allocation in NOMA technique: A review
Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) is an innovation that has great potential in wireless communication. It permits multiple users to efficiently allot a frequency band by adjusting their power allocations. Nevertheless, attaining fair power allocation in NOMA structures presents complex challenges that require specific models, extensive training data, and addressing issues of generalization. This review aims to explore the applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Deep Learning (DL) methods to tackle the challenges associated with fair power allocation in NOMA systems. The focus is on developing strong AI-DL models and creative optimization methods specifically designed for dynamic environments to improve transparency and interpretability. This study explores a wide range of techniques, including Reinforcement Learning, Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) for power allocation, Generative Adversarial Networks, Deep Reinforcement Learning, and Transfer Learning. The goal is to enhance various aspects, such as power allocation, user coupling, scheduling strategies, interference cancellation, user mobility, security, and deeplearning- based NOMA. Despite the difficulties, impartial power allocation algorithms based on AI and DL show promise in improving user performance and promoting fair power distribution in NOMA systems. This study emphasizes the significance of continuous research efforts to overcome current obstacles, enhance efficiency, and strengthen the dependability of wireless communication systems. This highlights the significance of NOMA as an advanced innovation for upcoming wireless generations that go beyond 5G. Future areas of study involve investigating federated learning and novel techniques for gathering data and utilizing interpretable AI-DL models to address existing constraints. Overall, this review highlights the potential of AI and DL techniques in achieving fair power distribution in NOMA systems. However, further investigation is crucial to addressing obstacles and fully exploring the capabilities of NOMA technology
Reflections of the topics on the agenda in the last five years on nursing service provision in Turkey
Bakım hemşirelik mesleğinin temelinde yer almakta ve hemşirelik uygulamaları ile özel bir nitelik kazanmaktadır. Hemşirelik mesleğine özgü olan hemşirelik bakımı, değişen toplum dinamikleri ve teknolojik gelişmeler ile kendini güncellemektedir. Hemşirelik bakımının taşıdığı anlam hep aynı olsa da bakım hizmetinin sunumunda oluşan değişimlerin takip edilmesi önemlidir. Bu nedenle sağlık bakımında güncel gelişmelerin izlenmesi amacıyla ülkemizde hemşirelik bakımında son beş yılın gündemini oluşturan araştırmaların derlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Derlemeye konu olan araştırmalara “hemşirelik bakımı, Covid-19, kanıta dayalı uygulamalar, sağlık teknolojisi ve afet” anahtar kelimeleri kullanılarak ulaşılmıştır. Bu çalışmalar incelendiğinde, altı başlık altında kategorize edilmiştir. Bunlar; bireyselleştirilmiş bakım, karşılanmamış hemşirelik bakımı, Covid-19 ve hemşirelik bakımı, teknoloji ve hemşirelik bakımı, kanıta dayalı hemşirelik bakımı, afetler ve hemşirelik bakım uygulamalarıdır. Yapılan araştırmalar incelendiğinde bireyi etkileyen tüm gelişmeler ister teknolojik gelişmeler gibi olumlu ister salgın hastalıklar gibi olumsuz olsun, hemşireliğin odağı birey olduğu için hemşirelik bakım sunumunu etkilemektedir. Hemşireler tüm bu gelişmeleri takip ederek bakıma yansıtabilmeli ve mesleği geliştirmek için araştırmalar yapmalı bu araştırmalar sonucunda da gerekli düzenlemeleri yapabilmek için rol ve sorumluluk almalıdırlar.Care is at the core of the nursing profession and gains a special quality through nursing practices. Nursing care, which is specific to the nursing profession, updates itself with changing social dynamics and technological developments. Although the meaning of nursing care is always the same, it is important to follow the changes in the delivery of care services. For this reason, it is aimed to compile the research that constitutes the agenda of the last five years in nursing care in our country in order to monitor current developments in health care. The studies included in the compilation were accessed using the keywords “nursing care, COVID-19, evidence-based practices, health technology and disaster”. When these studies are examined, they are categorized under six headings. These; individualized care, unmet nursing care, COVID-19 and nursing care, technology and nursing care, evidence-based nursing care, disasters and nursing care practices. When the researches are examined, all developments that affect the individual, whether positive such as technological developments or negative such as epidemic diseases, affect the delivery of nursing care since the focus of nursing is the individual. Nurses should be able to follow all these developments and reflect them on care, conduct research to improve the profession, and take a role and responsibility to make the necessary arrangements as a result of these researches
Mechanical investigation of kenaf/carbon hybrid composites for building and construction applications
Single-kenaf fiber-reinforced polymer composites are typically characterized by relatively low strength and stiffness properties that make them unsuitable for structural applications. However, they are lightweight, economical, and ecofriendly. This paper presents a study on the manufacturing and mechanical characterization of bidirectional kenaf (K) fiber-reinforced epoxy composites hybridized with carbon (C) fibers in various stacking sequences and the effects of hybridization on salient physical and mechanical properties. Single and hybrid fiber composites were fabricated utilizing the vacuum infusion molding technique. The density, tensile, flexural, and interlaminar shear properties in hybrid composites increased significantly when carbon fiber volume increased from 9% to 16%. Stacking sequences in a hybrid affected the mechanical properties of the composites. The highest tensile strength and modulus were shown by the seven-layer hybrid composite with an alternate K/C stacking sequence and C layers as skin layers, i.e., C/K/C/K/C/K/C, among all tested hybrid composites. Sandwich design in the hybrid (C2/K3/C2) had higher flexural strength (+300%), flexural modulus (+414%), interlaminar shear strength (+278%), lower water absorption (−46%), and thickness swelling (−30%) compared to single-fiber kenaf/epoxy composites. Density increased by 5% in hybrid composites. The highest fracture toughness (+134%) was achieved using the dual sandwich design structure hybrid (C/K2/C2/K2/C). Analysis of the thigh aesthetic profiles: One of physical ideal body proportions
Background The contour of the thigh is increasingly being recognized as crucial component of the ideal human physique, giving rise to heightened interest in attaining the perfect thigh profile. Notwithstanding, the contemporary landscape of cosmetic surgery appears to be bereft of efficient and precise objective methodologies to evaluate the outcomes of thigh contouring treatments. The present study is aimed to investigate the aesthetic appeal of varying thigh contours, employing specialized software as an indispensable instrument for quantitative and qualitative analysis. Methods Standardized photographs of the lower body were obtained from a sample of 200 healthy volunteers. A linear analysis was conducted, examining aspects such as the vertical length and transvers width of the thigh, as well as angular measurements including the posterior gluteal angle (PGA) and lateral angle thigh (LAT). Variables relating to thigh measurements and body mass index (BMI) were documented, with the relationships between them ascertained through Pearson’s correlation and regression analysis. Results In males, the LAT was measured at 168 ± 3.9, and the PGA at 170 ± 3.4, while in females, these measurements were 166 ± 2.8 ve 166 ± 2.8, respectively. Linear analyses, including the vertical length of thigh (VLT), transverse width of thigh (TWT), lateral width (LW), and posterior width (PW), were conducted. Based on the LW inferior/LW superior ratio values, the most commonly observed thigh types were Type III (0.90) at 45% and Type II (0.85) at 24.75% while the least common was Type V at 4% (0.99). PW inferior/PW superior was 84.7%. The PWI/PWS ratio was highest for Type V, at 0.99, accounting for 84.70% of the total. Furthermore, an increase in the LWI/LWS ratio leads to an increase in the PWI/PWS ratio. The frequency of the VLT/TW1 ratio 0.31-0.35 (Type 3) was found to be on the left side and Type 4 on the right side. A strong correlation was found between BMI and all thigh indexes, with a significant positive correlation between the index and factors tied to the buttocks and upper thigh. Conclusions The concept of an ideal thigh may vary based on an individual’s gender, race, country of residence, and self-esteem, aiming to achieve a more natural silhouette. Focusing on the different ratios of hip and thigh varieties in the study is quite intriguing. Further inquiry and rigorous exploration are warranted to delineate the optimal techniques and methodologies for attaining ideal thigh proportions.
