Get PDFWe compare the prosaic works Totožnost by Milan Kundera (L’Identité, translated by Anna Kareninová, published in Czech in 2024, Brno, Atlantis) and Uvidíme se v srpnu by Gabriel Gárcia Márquez (En agosto nos vemos, translated by Blanka Stárková, published in Czech in 2024, Praha, Odeon). We start with the information on the circulation of the texts (posthumous publication, translations, reception) and proceed to the context of contemporary Czech literature within which the texts belong. Concluding sections outline shared features of both works that can be identified upon reading and analysis, for example topic, motifs (desire, woman in her middle age, setting off for a journey) or structure. Reception horizon of the reader and specific role of educational context are also being taken into consideration

Research is being carried out at the Faculty of Education of the Charles University aimed at increasing the success rate of pupils in solving word problems. It is based on the cross-curricular connection of mathematics and the Czech language with an emphasis on the development of pupils‘ skills in the area of mathematical, reading and language literacy. The article will present the project and emerging Methodology through the prism of Czech language didactics and will provide basic information about the current state of the Methodology based on ongoing pilot projects. A total of 37 teachers from approximately 25 schools from all over the Czech Republic are currently involved in the pilots, and the number of participating teachers is still slightly increasing
