How will global trade patterns evolve in the long run?

    No full text
International audienceIn this paper, the evolution of global trade patterns until 2050 is projected with a recursive dynamic computable general equilibrium (CGE) model. Feeding the model with exogenous projections on macroeconomic, demographic, sectoral and trade cost variables, the evolution of trade patterns emerges endogenously from the model. The approach is innovative in both modelling approach and exogenous inputs. GDP growth emerges endogenously in the model because of diffusion of ideas as a result of international trade and trade cost changes are based on estimates of technology and trade policy changes. The projections indicate that (i) because of projected reductions in trade costs, trade will grow more than GDP, generating a global trade-to-GDP growth rate of 1.1; (ii) because of structural change, the global share of manufacturing trade falls from 64% in 2020 to 52% by 2050, whereas the share of services trade rises substantially from 24% to 38%; and (iii) because of technological catch-up, the share in global trade of both developing and least-developed countries (LDCs) will rise (with developing countries overtaking developed economies around 2035), the share of intra-developed country trade will fall, whereas the share of intra-developing country trade and those between developing and developed countries will rise

The effects of host country language proficiency on the relationship between psychological contract breach, violation, and work behaviors: A moderated mediation model

    No full text
International audienceAs self-initiated expatriates (SIEs) often struggle to communicate in the common corporate language and/or host country language, the aim of this study is to determine if host country language proficiency (HCLP) facilitates communication. As a corollary HCLP might reduce the negative impact of psychological contract (PC) breach on PC violation, and ultimately the positive impact on counterproductive work behaviors (CWB) and the negative impact on organizational citizenship behaviors (OCB). This study uses a repeated-measurement design with three measurement points from 300 SIEs. Using a moderated mediation path model, we found that PC breach at T1 is positively associated with CWB and negatively associated with OCB at T3 through PC violation at T2. Furthermore, HCLP at T1 moderates the positive PC breach–PC violation relationship. Specifically, HCLP amplifies the indirect relationships between PC breach, CWB, and OCB for participants with poor levels of HCLP. This study demonstrates the need of improving HCLP of SIEs. We discuss additional implications for theory, practice and future research

Digital Technology Integration in Business Model Innovation for Carbon Neutrality: An Evolutionary Process Model for SMEs

    No full text
International audienceThis study delves into the strategies employed by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to embed digital technology into their business models, aiming to reach carbon neutrality. We offer a comprehensive analysis of five high technology SMEs, unveiling an evolutionary process model that highlights their journey toward integrating technology. The integration process is delineated into three progressive stages. Initially, digital technology is seen as an ‘enabler’ that promotes the birth of an innovative business model, essentially transforming the mechanisms of value creation, delivery, and capture. As SMEs evolve to an intermediate stage, digital technology becomes a ‘disruptor’, reshaping and reinventing the business model in terms of how value is created, delivered, and captured. Entering the maturity stage, digital technology is elevated to the role of ‘expertise’, leading to a sophisticated business model that refines and optimizes these aspects of value. The influence of these business model innovations on carbon neutrality is complex and varies distinctly with each stage, reflecting the dynamic interplay between digital technology and business model evolution

Coworkers’ interpersonal justice and team citizenship behaviors: mediation of social exchange and identity and moderation of extraversion

    No full text
International audienceThe purpose of this study is to examine the effect of coworkers’ interpersonal justice (defined as the extent to which one is treated by coworkers with dignity, courtesy and respect) on team citizenship behaviors. More precisely, the authors first test the mediating role played by both team-member exchange and team identification in this relationship. Further, they examine the moderating role of extraversion in these two mediating mechanisms

Digital touch in sponsorship: Getting closer to the brand through virtual reality

International audienceAbstractSupporters are consuming more and more sporting events through digital platforms.Brands should adapt to these new consumption patterns in order to strengthen theirconnection with their customers. Today, researchers and practitioners can createmore interactive and enjoyable experiences through virtual reality (VR) applications.Through two studies conducted on VR during sporting events, we show that mentallyrepresenting the touch experiences of players on the field reduces the psychologicaldistance between the supporter and the player, which strengthens the supporter'sattachment to the team and, through the same attachment, to the sponsor (Study 1).We also highlight that these positive effects of VR compared to real touch (using aplayer's jersey) is linked to the improvement of immersion, which stimulates touchimagery (Study 2). We discuss the implications of this research for theory andpractice in the sports business and other sectors.AbstractSupporters are consuming more and more sporting events through digital platforms.Brands should adapt to these new consumption patterns in order to strengthen theirconnection with their customers. International audienceThis paper provides a bibliometric analysis of scientificarticles addressing the topic of the presence of womenon company boards. We conducted the content analysisand an evolution map of this research field on a sample of395 articles published in Web of Science (1991-2017). Ourresults show that this field began with an approachfocused on the gender gap from a solely comparative pointof view between men and women, but has progressivelyevolved so that the most recent studies focus on thespecific role of women given their growing relevance in theeconomy and society
