Self-initiated expatriates in menial jobs: Destructive psychological contracts in the hospitality sector
International audienceThis qualitative research explores the psychological contract (PC) of a sample of self-initiated expatriates (SIEs) working in the French hospitality sector, focusing on PC evaluation as well as reactions to PC breach and feelings of violation. The authors found evidence of a psychological contract type not discussed before in empirical studies. The employer in this research intentionally disrupts the exchange relationship, creating a destructive PC. In these cases, it is assumed that employees would exit such an employment relationship, but instead the study found a mix of dysfunctional behavior in the form of neglect, workplace deviance and revenge cognitions. Accounting for the limitations of the study the authors highlight the implications of the findings for theory, practice and future research
Curating on-the-go experience
International audienceIn this chapter mobile marketing is considered as a critical asset to reaching many users who might not have high Internet penetration rates. Mobile marketing is a rapidly growing field that has become increasingly important in recent years. In particular in developing countries, it might present the only means for communication and reaching out to a stakeholder persona. The MOBILES acrostic summarises how to reach stakeholders during each point of the persona journey. At each stage, there are specific challenges to overcome including attracting new stakeholders, persuading them to engage with the organisation, converting them and then retaining them over the long term. By understanding the mobile persona journey and the challenges and opportunities at each stage, marketers can create effective omni-channel campaigns and achieve their goals. In this chapter mobile marketing is considered as a critical asset to reaching many users who might not have high Internet penetration rates. The economics of published and unpublished restaurant wine lists. Evidence from Switzerland
International audienceThis paper uses data from the 2021 Swiss edition of the Gault&Millau food guide to analyse the probability with which restaurant owners decide to share their wine list with the public. This is an important question relating to the amount of information circulating in markets characterised by information asymmetry in the context of experience and credence goods. We find that restaurant owners are more willing to share their wine list with others when i) competition is limited and ii) this document does not contain idiosyncratic information that competitors may use strategically. Interviews indicate the challenge for restaurants to balance the risk of sharing information with competitors and the opportunity to attract wine lovers by revealing an appealing wine list. We also show that this decision depends on cultural considerations
Review of the Coverage of Financial Inclusion Research Since the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals: What Has Changed?
International audienceDespite extensive research linking financial inclusion to sustainable development goals (SDGs), a holistic review of this body of knowledge is still lacking. We used bibliometric methods to identify progress and gaps in this research stream to fill this gap. We propose a holistic conceptual framework of financial inclusion, decomposed into five conceptual blocks: digital and non-digital finance, financial services, and individual-level and systemic factors. The results show that current financial inclusion literature contributes mainly to 6 of the 17 SDGs, with the rest being relatively under-researched

All for one and one for all? Towards a collective view of entrepreneurial persistence in social enterprises
International audienceThe purpose of this paper is to shed light on the collective dynamics of entrepreneurial persistence. We argue that the individual/project nexus – associating persistence to individual commitment, is insufficient to account for the complexity of social entrepreneurship. Instead, we argue that business survival is the outcome of collective cognitive and agentic dynamics, rather than purely individual ones. Through an seven years qualitative longitudinal study led on two nascent social ventures, we identify different patterns related to the profiles of commitment driving venture persistence, and the collective dynamics affecting individual commitments. Specifically, we investigate examine how founders’ commitment profiles evolve over time, combine themselves, and ultimately shape a collective effort to pursue the venture. We also explain the conditions for persistent commitment in social entrepreneurship and show that the individual persistence of the entrepreneur can be dissociated from the process venture persistence
Optimal Economic Growth with CO 2 Emissions Budget and CDR Options
A three-region optimal economic growth model is proposed to represent the global energy transition to net-zero emissions when carbon dioxide removal (CDR) technologies are available. The main features of the model are (i) the representation of the economy and energy use with nested CES production functions; (ii) the representation of climate policy through the use of a safety cumulative emissions budget concept; and (iii) the representation of an international emissions trading scheme for the implementation of climate policy. Using an infinite horizon optimization paradigm, several contrasting scenarios are analyzed both in an asymptotic steady state or ``turnpike" point, and in an optimal transition to sustainability. This very compact model produces dynamic path simulations that are consistent with the main recommendations from IPCC for long term climate policies. The potential use of this simple model in future developments in climate and economic modeling is discussed
The configuration of workforce and equipment in assembly lines:: toward Industry 5.0
International audienceThis chapter evaluates different types of task assignment strategies in a multimanned mixed-model assembly line with walking workers: fixed, model-dependent, and dynamic. Fixed task assignment means that the tasks’ positions and order remain the same for any sequence of product models. In the model-dependent policy, the task assignment changes from one product to another, but for a given product model remains the same. In dynamic task assignment, resources can be reassigned every takt to adjust to any possible orders of products
