Customer Firms’ Resistance and Innovation of Entrepreneurial Supplier Firms in the Blockchain Industry: The Mediating Role of Knowledge Assimilation

    No full text
International audienceThe extant scholarship has concentrated on the macro-level interorganizational interactions within business-to-business (B2B) relationships. However, granular-level phenomena, particularly the resistive behaviors of individual B2B relationship managers, have not been adequately scrutinized. Grounded in resource dependence theory, the study examines the ramifications of B2B relationship manager resistance within customer firms on acquiring customer knowledge by entrepreneurial suppliers, with subsequent implications for product innovation. An empirical analysis of data from 135 entrepreneurial entities within the nascent blockchain industry indicates that the resistance from customer firms’ B2B relationship managers exerts a substantive detrimental effect on the supplier's innovation outcomes, a process that is mediated by the diminished assimilation of customer knowledge. This article further discerns two salient organizational competencies—customer involvement capability and relational capability—as moderating variables that can attenuate the negative repercussions of B2B relationship manager resistance. By shedding light on the mediating function of customer knowledge assimilation and addressing the impact of individual-level resistance in the specific milieu of an emergent technological field, this study augments the corpus of B2B literature, offering novel insights into the intricate dynamics at the microinteractional level

Policy Decision-support for Inland Waterway Transport in Sustainable Urban Areas: An Analysis of Economic Viability

    No full text
International audienceMany cities have initiated promoting inland waterway transport to serve parcel delivery in urban areas to achieve sustainable transportation. This research aims to identify the key components of an economically viable urban network distribution, where inland waterway transport is deployed as the main transport, and cargo bikes or electric vehicles are used for last-mile delivery. The analysis uses a decision-support framework based on a two-echelon city distribution scheme. Numerical experiments are conducted using near-practical instances in France and inputs from industry stakeholders. From the study, it was found that the economic viability of inland waterways as main transport depends on the number of parcels to be delivered, and the existing infrastructures. The city configurations, their accessibility, as well as their operating conditions are also of utmost importance. The lowest CO2 equivalent emissions are obtained by combining inland waterways with electric bikes. This paper can be used as decision-making support and guidance for transport companies, industry stakeholders, and public authorities for an efficient and sustainable urban distribution network combining inland waterways and bikes/vans

How to promote sustainable wine tourism: Insights from Italian and French young adults

    No full text
International audienceWith over 40 million annual tourists visiting wineries, wine tourism is becoming an important source of revenue for wine businesses and local communities to preserve heritage in rural regions. It is perceived as a strategy to increase economic and social sustainability. Two cross-sectional surveys in France and Italy explored the interest of 1205 young adults and the influence of individual features on sustainable wine tourism intention. Two scenarios with differently framed environmental information were tested through a mock winery webpage. Wine involvement, environmental attitude, perceived behavioural control were identified as core traits prompting young adults to experience sustainable wine tourism. The adoption of co-compatible practices and winery commitment in preserving biodiversity emerged as more attractive than a sustainability certification. With over 40 million annual tourists visiting wineries, wine tourism is becoming an important source of revenue for wine businesses and local communities to preserve heritage in rural regions. Performance evaluation of a two-echelon inventory system with network lost sales

    No full text
International audienceInventory systems are largely analyzed in the literature under the common assumption of backorders due to the complexity of lost sales. In this paper, we consider a two-echelon inventory system composed of a central warehouse and multiple local warehouses subject to lost sales. The demand faced by each local warehouse is a Poisson process and the stock in the warehouses is controlled according to a continuous review base-stock policy. This system has been analyzed in the literature under deterministic or exponential lead-times at the central warehouse, deterministic lead times at the local warehouses and approximate performance evaluations have been proposed for two cases: (1) the demand is lost if no items are available in the local warehouse, the central warehouse, or in the pipeline in between (i.e., a waiting time threshold for incoming demand equal to the local warehouse lead time), and (2) when there is a waiting time threshold less than the local warehouse lead time. Based on a queuing network representation of the system, we extend the performance analysis of the system in the first case by considering generally distributed lead times both at the central and local warehouses and by providing the exact closed-form expressions for the inventory performance measures. In the second case, we provide new approximate solutions under generally distributed lead times at the central warehouse. We numerically show that our exact and approximate solutions perform equally or better than those presented in the literature under deterministic lead times

RSE et développement durable en management international: une analyse des publications de MI de 2009 à 2023

    No full text
International audience135 of the 829 articles that Management international published between 2009 and 2023 addressed the issue of social responsibility and/or sustainability. Analysis of thiscorpus starts with a description of the methodologies used; the environmental, social or governance topics being explored; the specific sustainable development goals inquestion; and the overall fields of study. This is followed by a categorisation of the seven themes covered in Management international articles, the goal being to betterunderstand the orientations and directions followed in these sustainability publications. Lastly, the abstracts are subjected to LDA thematic analysis, leading to theidentification of ten clusters and highlighting the themes comprising the field of CSR and sustainability studies.¿Cómo abordan los artículos publicados entre 2009 y 2023 en la revista Mi las cuestiones de responsabilidad social y desarrollo sostenible?
