No full textThis video was produced as part of the European DECOSEAS project (JPI CH 2021) to explain how it works and what it contains. The archive documents are taken from images provided by contributors (Dana Rappoport, Joséphine Simonnot and Gallica).This platform was designed to facilitate access for non-French-speaking local populations, with geo-cultural criteria and a user interface in seven Southeast Asian languages. The initial data was enriched by specialists (linguists, ethnologists, etc.) and geolocated according to currently available cultural and historical knowledge.The database is intended to be enriched with new knowledge and new collections.Cette vidéo a été réalisée dans le cadre du projet européen DECOSEAS (JPI CH 2021) afin d'expliquer le fonctionnement et le contenu de la plateforme web Pratinada, à l'initiative de l'équipe française du projet (UMR CASE et PRISM). Les documents d'archives utilisés dans la vidéo sont issus des images des contributeurs (Dana Rappoport, Joséphine Simonnot ou de Gallica).Cette plateforme a été conçue pour faciliter l'accès aux populations locales non francophone, avec des critères géo-culturels et une interface utilisateur en 7 langues d'Asie du Sud Est. Les données initiales ont été enrichies par des spécialistes (linguistes, ethnologues, ...) et géolocalisées selon les connaissances culturelles et historiques disponibles actuellement.La base de données est destinées à être enrichies de nouvelles connaissances et de nouvelles collections

No full textNational audienceCo-organisé par le consortium DISTAM, la BULAC et le CCSD, cet événement poursuivait un double objectif. Tout d'abord, il a offert aux chercheurs en études aérales un exemple concret d'utilisation de l'archive ouverte HAL grâce à un retour d'expérience issu du projet ERC-DHARMA. Ce retour permet de voir comment HAL peut soutenir toutes les étapes de la recherche de la collecte des données à leur partage en libre accès. Ensuite, cet événement a fournir aux chercheurs un soutien personnalisé pour les aider à tirer le meilleur parti de l'archive ouverte HAL et à rendre visible l'ensemble des données de la recherche
Finding a voice in academia when one’s experience is contrary to what one has learned. Intertwined personal narratives about social justice and meritocracy ideologies in a color-blind context
No full textInternational audienceAdopting reflective positionalities and participating to decolonize academic writing, we use autobiographical writing in this chapter as the testimony of subjective experiences has the power to display (the journey to) embodied theorizing. We try to illuminate our understanding of our journey through language, including the sets of beliefs we were raised with; we identify what we did not study in our higher education curricula in the language sciences and language education, and what would have helped us to understand social injustice and the discrimination that we face every day in the field and in our lives. We show that sets of beliefs we were raised with in France, particularly about meritocracy for upward social mobility in a color-blind country, and the tendency to analyze sociolinguistic issues only through the lens of class, all prevented critical thinking about ethno-racial discrimination, both in the field and within academia. As a dialogue, each section of this chapter is divided into two parts with each of us sharing her point of view. We first trace our journeys through language and social injustice from childhood to university before focusing on meritocracy and success but also discrimination we witnessed and experienced within academia

No full textInternational audienceThe article examines the emergence of new Southeast Asian capitals—Putrajaya (Malaysia), Nay Pyi Taw (Myanmar), and Nusantara (Indonesia)—as deliberate instruments of statecraft, national identity, and modernization. These capitals, built ex nihilo as planned cities, replace former administrative centers that suffered from severe congestion, inadequate infrastructure, and environmental degradation. The relocation is framed not only as a post-colonial rupture but also as a strategic response to domestic challenges, such as urban saturation in Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, and Yangon, as well as a means to foster regional development and national integration. The article first explores some common characteristics of these new capitals, before turning in its second part to urban planning models. The decisions to establish these capitals are predominantly top-down. Their governance relies on exceptional legal frameworks that bind them directly and strongly to central governments, while their financing is largely publicly funded in Malaysia and increasingly dependent on private investment in Indonesia, reflecting the growing financialization of urban development since the 2000s. Urban planning in these cities reflects evolving paradigms. Putrajaya blends the “garden city” ideal with local “kampung” traditions and “city beautiful” aesthetics. Nusantara envisions a “tropical forest city,” integrating ecological resilience and archipelagic spatiality, while Nay Pyi Taw prioritizes security through spatial fragmentation. These projects, therefore, embody both local cultural aspirations and broader global trends in sustainable, smart urbanism
