A Bibliometric Analysis of the Knowledge Exchange Patterns between Major Technology and Innovation Management Journals (1999-2013)
No full textInternational audienceThis essay takes a longitudinal look at the knowledge flow patterns between major technology and innovation man- agement (TIM) journals and the effect on their impact factors. We analyze the flow of 29,776 citations from 4171 articles published in the top six dedicated TIM journals between 1999 and 2013. Findings indicate one subset of journals becoming more firmly rooted in the TIM domain, while the others becoming increasingly insulated from it. JPIM displays peculiar knowledge flow patterns, suggesting a broadening of its knowledge base and impact. Our bibliometric analysis provides one of the most comprehensive and detailed year-by-year looks at the intradomain knowledge exchange patterns over a 15-year period

Anxiety and Psycho-Physiological Stress Response to Competitive Sport Exercise
No full textInternational audienceIntroduction: Sport is recognized as beneficial for health. In certain situation of practice, it nevertheless appears likely to induce a stress response. Anxiety is a stress response-modulating factor. Our objective is to characterize the role of anxiety in the stress response induced by a selective physical exercise.Method: Sixty-three young male military conducted a selective sporting running event (a 8-km commando-walk) and were recorded the day before, the day of the race, and the day after. The variables were psychometric [personality questionnaires, coping and anxious/stress state, and physiological (nocturnal heart rate variability and actigraphy)]. The subjects were classified, using scores on anxiety questionnaires at baseline, into two groups according to their anxious (G ANX) or non-anxious (G N-ANX).Results: Before the race, the G ANX was characterized by a lower level of self-esteem, higher scores in dysfunctional coping and a greater perceived stress compared to the G N-ANX. Compared to G N-ANX, the stress response to the exercise was higher in G ANX: G ANX exhibited (Selye, 1950) in immediate post-exercise, greater level in activation markers, and mental fatigue associated with a same level of physical fatigue and (Kim et al., 2018) in nocturnal post-exercise, an increase in sympathetic activation associated with a higher sleep fragmentation.Conclusion: A competition selection sport exercise causes a stress response, particularly for anxious subjects. Anxious status could be involved in the risk of emergence of overtraining in sport practice. These results must be taken into account when sport practice is used for anxiety management

No full textInternational audienceWhile interest in art-based interventions is growing rapidly, little is known about the aesthetic, material, and interpersonal mechanisms by which art interventions, and musical interventions in particular, operate. We address this gap by drawing from an in-depth case study of a musical intervention in a professional ice-hockey team in Finland. At the time of the study, the organization faced a serious crisis, having lost 11 sequential games, leading its managers to search for "alternative" means for promoting social cohesion, and subsequently engaging in an arts-based musical intervention. Our findings examine how material objects and collective synchronization rhythms grounded the interpersonal interactions of team members and mediated members' attempts to transform personal subjective experiences into collective collaboration. We draw out the conceptual implications of our findings for understanding, on the one hand, the collective nature of aesthetic processes, and on the other hand, the materially mediated processes of communication. In terms of practical implication, we contribute to understanding the social dynamics and transformative organizational possibilities of artistic interventions that generate value for the organization and its members
Socio-economic and ecological transition in community supported agriculture: from the 'transitional' to the 'ideal' CSA
No full textInternational audienceThis paper focuses on the transitional features of community supported agriculture (CSA). Its key contribution is to show the transformational potential of CSA for agricultural system change. The starting point of this research is the "ideal" CSA model. Instead of a monolithic CSA model, in practice we find a patchwork of experiences that we group together under the "transitional" CSA name. We develop a framework that highlights the "transitional" CSA model and compares it with both the conventional and the "ideal" CSA. The coevolutionary approach helps us to understand how CSAs adapt to their context. We use many narratives from the broad literature on CSAs
Experimenting in the Unknown: Lessons from The Manhattan Project
No full textInternational audienceExperimentation is paramount to innovation. In fact, innovation scholars and practitioners have espoused Thomke's (2003) book titled Experimentation matters: Unlocking the potential of new technologies for innovation. Unfortunately, companies still experience considerable technical and managerial difficulties with organizing experiments under high uncertainty. This study confronts Thomke's experimentation principles with a high uncertainty context by examining experiments conducted by The Manhattan Project from 1943–1945, the initiative that created the first implosion‐type fission bomb. Findings suggest that lack of theoretical knowledge, a crisis of scientific instruments, and absence of pre‐established organizations were critical to such highly uncertain experimentation. We conclude with a discussion of the boundary conditions of Thomke's experimentation principles. Finally, we propose five principles for facilitating the management of experimentation in the unknown
Does corporate governance influence firm performance? Quantile regression evidence from a transactional economy
No full textCompter en novembre 2017International audienceThis study examines the impact of corporate governance structures on firm performance using a unique sample of 478 non-financial companies listed on the two main Vietnamese stock exchanges. Given the contrasting existing empirical results, we adopt the method of quantile regression (QR) and report some robust and significant negative relationship between board independence/Chief Executive Officer duality and firm performance. These findings seem rather corroborate the agency theory. Furthermore, the use of QR may be more insightful than estimating the mean effect of the response variable

The first section discusses the thesis of banalization and institutional isomorphism, resituating the terms of the debate through an institutionalist approach based on the institutional diversity of the organizations. The second section demonstrates, from a historical perspective, the institutional dynamics of cooperative banks and their ability to adapt to institutional constraints.L’article propose de revisiter la thèse de la banalisation des banques coopératives en France. La première partie discute la thèse de la banalisation et l’isomorphisme institutionnel, il repose les termes du débat en mobilisant une approche institutionnaliste fondée sur la diversité institutionnelle des organisations. La seconde partie démontre, à partir d’une perspective historique, les dynamiques institutionnelles des banques coopératives et leur capacité à s’adapter aux contraintes institutionnelles
