Les jardins collectifs comme mode d’appropriation d’espaces publics et de participation à l’aménagement du territoire
No full textInternational audienceFacing a present and coming environmental crisis (Bourg, Joly, Kaufmann, 2013), political actors and citizens think and act for the necessary changes for tomorrow. Worldwide population mostly live in city (Sassen, 2004), place where is produced a lot of waste. Cities became places of consuming more than production (Parham, 2012) and seek to change today, to take in account environmental topics. If municipalities and public actors try solutions, citizens initiatives like collective gardens emerge to bring back nature in cities. We suppose that these actions, with a development and appropriation of public and collective space, allow the participation of residents and citizens to the construction of the territory.Face à une crise environnementale présente et à venir (Bourg, Joly, Kaufmann, 2013), acteurs politiques comme citoyens se mobilisent aujourd’hui pour penser les changements nécessaires pour demain. Devenue un lieu de consommation beaucoup plus que de production (Parham, 2012), la ville cherche aujourd’hui à changer, à se métamorphoser, pour laisser place aux questions environnementales. Si les municipalités et les acteurs publics tentent en effet de mettre en avant des solutions pour remettre de la nature en ville, des initiatives citoyennes telles que les jardins collectifs émergent pour retrouver un certain rapport à la terre. Nous postulons ainsi que ces formes d’actions, au travers d’un développement et d’une appropriation d’espaces collectifs et publics, permettent une participation des habitants à la construction du territoire

No full textInternational audienceThe purpose of this article is to assess to what extent Community Exchange Systems (CES), and particularly the Grenoble's SEL (Systèmes d'Echange Local) which are counterparts to the Anglo-Saxon Local Exchange Trading Systems (LETS), constitute an alternative to neoliberal rationalisation. Our analysis is grounded in the French convention theory (Economie des conventions) and feeds on a long-term action research conducted on CES. This research uncovered trends in institutional isomorphism as well as strategies for resistance developed by local actors
Learning, signaling, and convincing: The role of experimentation in the business modeling process
No full textInternational audienceThis study examines experimentation in the business modeling process, unpacking three different roles of experimentation: learning, signaling, and convincing. Learning is an inherent role of experimentation, as managers typically experiment to engage with the environment and to obtain knowledge. This study uncovers another set of roles, which have a symbolic nature. These roles show that experimentation is not just a learning process, but also a strategic legitimation process, aimed at enacting the environment. Experimentation serves the purpose of signaling to potential customers and other stakeholders, and of convincing them to embrace the business model. Furthermore, this study shows that experimentation takes two forms—purposeful interactions and experimental projects—and that these forms can support the different roles of experimentation

No full textFrom participatory-built indicators to urban politics: Comments on alternative indicators on the French city of Grenoble. This paper is a reflexive problematized analysis of an alternative quantification experiment in the French city of Grenoble. Even if the participatory indicators-making process questions the methodological backgrounds of quantification, their concrete uses still depend on urban politics and ratio of powers that underpin urban policy-making. According to this, we notably insist on the structural influence and hegemony of market-friendly indicators on urban governments.Si la dimension participative du processus de construction d’indicateurs alternatifs est l’occasion d’ouvrir la boite noire de la quantification, elle permet aussi l’introduction de nouveaux rapports de force politiques entre les habitants et les responsables des politiques publiques. À ce titre, cet article questionne le poids des logiques de marché et des indicateurs qui l’incarnent sur le gouvernement des villes. Is there a “business case” for board gender diversity within French listed SMEs
No full textCompter en novembre 2017International audienceMany studies have investigated the relationship between women on corporate boards (WOCB) and firm performance in accordance with the ‘business case’ for board gender diversity. However, these have been conducted on large firms. This study re-examines this relationship for a sample of French listed SMEs over the period 2010–2014 using a dynamic panel GMM estimator to mitigate endogeneity issues. We find that the percentage of WOCB is positively and significantly related to firm performance. However, the other proxies for board gender diversity are not statistically different from zero. We argue that the relationship is not straightforward. This finding is interesting as it sheds light on the ‘business case’
