The subject of my contribution is to evaluate his collecting work, publishing efforts, and theoretical interpretation of folk literature, and to point out some significant moments in his life that connect him with Banská Bystrica

Ethnogenesis of the Slovaks from the Linguistic Aspect
Get PDFCez jazykové územie dnešného Slovenska vedie hranica niektorých starých praslovanských nárečových rozdielov (juhozápadoslovenská a severovýchodoslovenská oblasť). Môže odzrkadľovať starší vývinový stav, ako je vyčlenenie troch základných makroareálov, t.j. rozdelenie na západoslovenskú, stredoslovenskú a východoslovenskú oblasť. Príchod predkov terajších Slovákov na územie Slovenska sa uskutočnil v dvoch prúdoch. Jeden z nich smeroval po východnej strane Karpatského oblúka cez Moldáviu k dolnému Dunaju (ešte pred polovicou 6. storočia), časť pravdepodobne smerovala aj na východné Slovensko. Druhý nápor Slovanov do strednej Európy smeroval zo severovýchodu cez Zakarpatsko k Labe a Sále, bočné prúdy obsadili Čechy, Moravu a západné Slovensko. V historických pamiatkach sú iba sporadické údaje o živote predkov terajších Slovákov v karpatsko-podunajskej kotline z predveľkomoravského obdobia. Archeologické nálezy a najstaršia vrstva všeslovanskej slovnej zásoby svedčia o umiestnení oblasti vnútri, nie na okraji slovanského územia. The border of some old Proto-Slavic dialect differences (southwest Slovak and northeast Slovak regions) runs through the linguistic territory of today's Slovakia. It may reflect an older developmental state, such as the separation of three basic macro-areas, i.e. the division into west Slovak, central Slovak and east Slovak regions. The arrival of the ancestors of today's Slovaks to the territory of Slovakia took place in two streams. One of them headed along the eastern side of the Carpathian arc through Moldavia to the lower Danube (even before the middle of the 6th century), some probably also headed to eastern Slovakia. The second onslaught of Slavs into Central Europe headed from the northeast through Transcarpathia to the Elbe and Sála, side streams occupied Bohemia, Moravia and western Slovakia. Historical monuments contain only sporadic data on the life of the ancestors of today's Slovaks in the Carpathian-Danubian basin from the pre-Great Moravian period. Archaeological finds and the oldest layer of Pan-Slavic vocabulary indicate the location of the area inside, not on the edge of, Slavic territory

Get PDFDie parömiologische Forschungsarbeit im sorbischen Sprachgebiet gliedert sich im wesentlichen in zwei Etappen. Die erste umfaßt die Sammlung des Materials seit dem 17. Jahrhundert bis Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts, wobei die Sprichwörter im obersorbischen Dialektgebiet rechtgründlich, im niedersorbischen Dialektgebiet und im Gebiet des Schleifer Dialekts dagegen nur sporadisch erfaßt wurden. Paremiologický výskum v lužickosrbskej jazykovej oblasti je v podstate rozdelený do dvoch etáp. Prvá etapa zahŕňa zber materiálu od 17. storočia do konca 19. storočia, pričom príslovia v hornosrbskej nárečovej oblasti boli dôkladne zaznamenané, zatiaľ čo v dolnosrbskej nárečovej oblasti a v nárečovej oblasti Schleife boli zaznamenané len sporadicky. Štúdia je preto založená predovšetkým na hornosrbských prísloviach, uvedený tu je aj prehľad obsahu zdrojov. Druhá etapa je zameraná na vedecké štúdium prísloví vo východoeurópskych krajinách.
Paremiological research in the Sorbian language area is essentially divided into two stages. The first stage includes the collection of material from the 17th century to the end of the 19th century, whereby proverbs in the Upper Serbian dialect area were thoroughly recorded, while those in the Lower Serbian dialect area and the Schleife dialect area were recorded only sporadically. The study is therefore based primarily on Upper Serbian proverbs, and an overview of the content of the sources is also given here. The second stage is focused on the scientific study of proverbs in Eastern European countries

Nie je potrebné tu vymenovávať početné práce na túto problematiku; stačí spomenúť slávnu knihu J. G. Frazera „Zlatá ratolesť“, kde je niekoľko strán venovaných tomuto dualizmu, tomuto zlúčeniu kresťanstva a pohanstva, ktoré charakterizuje ľudovú mentalitu
Folklore Functions in the Contact and Mass Communication Context
Get PDFThe definition of folklore is dominated by orality and oral tradition linked to the first basic type of communication - interpersonal, or direct communication. Within its framework, folklore had various functions (magical-ritual, work, integration, informational, aesthetic, ... ). With the development of printing and gradually other media, it is also possible to trace the spread of folklore in the process of so-called mass communication. The form of stylization of folklore expression and the original genre of folklore often change (e.g. a folk tale takes the form of a radio play). The original functions are moved to a different position and mass media functions become dominant.V definícii folklóru dominuje ústnosť a ústne tradovanie viazané na prvý základný typ komunikácie - na interpersonálnu, alebo priamu komunikáciu. V jej rámci mal folklór rôzne funkcie (magicko-rituálnu, pracovnú, integračnú, informačnú, estetickú, ... ) S rozvojom tlače a postupne i ďalších médií je možné sledovať aj šírenie folklóru v procese tzv. masovej komunikácie. Forma štylizácie folklórneho prejavu aj pôvodný žáner folklóru sa často mení (napr. ľudová rozprávka dostáva podobu rozhlasovej hry). Pôvodné funkcie sa presúvajú do inej polohy a dominantnými sa stávajú masmediálne funkcie
