International Students Seminars
At the end of the 1960s the Department of Ethnology and Folklore Studies of the Faculty of Philosophy of Comenius University began to feel the need of professional cooperation with abroad especially in two areas: in pedagogical work and in scientific - research activities. The international student ethnological seminar Seminarium Ethnologicum (SE), which the department had founded and organized for almost ten years, helped considerably to meet these goals. V období politického uvoľnenia režimu koncom 60-tych rokov 20. storočiaKatedra etnografie a folkloristiky FFUK začala pociťovať potrebu zahraničnejodbornej spolupráce, a to najmä vo dvoch oblastiach: v pedagogickej práci a vo vedeckovýskumnej činnosti. Napĺňať oba tieto ciele výrazne napomáhal medzinárodný etnologický seminár študentov Seminarium Ethnologicum (SE), ktorý katedra založila a organizovala temer desať rokov
The relationship between the diocesan bishop and the priest from spiritual perspective
oai:ojs2.158.195.4.101:article/1Tento prehľadový článok analyzuje vo svetle súčasných cirkevných dokumentov a cez prizmu praxe základný vzťah medzi diecéznym biskupom a kňazom. This review article analyses, in the light of contemporary Church documents and through the prism of practice, the fundamental relationship between the diocesan bishop and the priest. In three parts, it approaches and analyses the meaning of this hierarchical relationship, which is threatened on the one hand by paternalism and juridicism and on the other hand, in turn, by an unwillingness to build a deeper than collegial relationship. At the same time, the article encourages, in the light of a double motivation to strengthen the relationship of the presbyterium with the bishop: the first motivation isan ontological-sacramental and the second one motivation has a historical-ecclesial nature. Both these motivations make possible, that the obedience in the hierarchical relationship is also rationally supported and does not stand only on human sympathies

New Approaches Using Image Processing of Spectral Data from Synchrotron X-ray-fluorescence Element Maps to Recover Erased Text from the Vienna Dexippus Palimpsest
The article provides insights into the digital recovery of the Scythica Vindobonensia, the Vienna Dexippus palimpsest. These new fragments were discovered some years ago in a palimpsest of the Austrian National Library in Vienna and contain lost ancient historical text about Gothic incursions into Roman provinces in the Balkans in the third century AD. In order to render the erased script of the eleventh-century Greek manuscript visible, the classical scholars in charge of deciphering and editing the Scythica Vindobonensia cooperate closely with specialists in the field of digital recovery of palimpsests. The article presents new approaches using image processing of spectral data from synchrotron x-ray-fluorescence element maps to recover illegible areas of the erased text. The work on the palimpsest is still in progress
A Literary Heroine of Selected Fictional War Narratives by Arab Women Writers
The destructive power of armed conflicts within the Middle Eastern region provided thematic material for several important works by Arab female writers. The specific modality of these historical events is carried by the female characters that create these fictional narratives. In our contribution, we will focus on the main aspects of the modelling of the female protagonist in prose works, thematising the war in Lebanon, Iraq and Kuwait. We examine to what extent the position of the female protagonist of the fictional war worlds is identical to the one attributed to her by the mainstream discourse, which often overlooks the participation of women in conflicts or records it as the participation of a monolithic “silenced” group, situated on the edge.
From a spatial perspective, we are interested in how female characters in fictional spaces are positioned in relation to the epicentre of war. In the case of literary heroines in the discussed works, it is the prevailing need to “remain”, “endure” and “bear witness”, which is presented as one of the options for confronting a culture of violence. In the classification of the protagonists of these works, we focus on the manner in which they are created in terms of their (active/passive) “participation” in armed conflicts, drawing on a study by I. O. Tijani (2008) as a basis for the classification

Scholies sur palimpseste : dans les marges du Vind. Suppl. gr. 59
Thanks to the improvement in palimpsest studies provided by new technologies such as the multispectral images – that were, in this particular case, captured and processed by the Technische Universität Wien and the CIMA (Centre of Image and Material Analysis in Cultural Heritage) for a research project of the Austrian Academy of Scien- 166 Véronique Somers ces (Department of Byzantine Research) focusing on the Greek palimpsests of the Austrian National Library in Vienna –, it is possible to identify scholia in the margins of a palimpsest kept in the Library. The paper lists and analyses the scholia readable in the manuscript Vind. Suppl. gr. 59, containing Logoi by Gregory of Nazianzus as lower text. Comparison with identical or similar scholia in other Gregorian manuscripts is sometimes necessary to decipher the erased text
