Eatertainment: Staging food and experiences for brand competitiveness in restaurants
The "eatertainment" phenomenon has become widespread as one of the latest trends for many restaurant brands. The main goal of the present work is to examine the relationship between the visual presentation of food and its influence on the multidimensional notion of brand experience. The research was exploratory and three focus group discussions were held. Findings revealed that food presentation enhances various dimensions of brand experience, although its impact varies: it significantly influences sensory brand experiences, mainly the visual and taste perceptions; it is less prominent in affective brand experiences, where other factors play a more significant role; it also shapes behavioral brand experiences, encouraging photography, online sharing, and culinary exploration; and its impact on intellectual brand experiences varies, with some seeing it inspiring and others merely aesthetic. However, plating is just one aspect of a holistic brand experience, necessitating a multifaceted strategy for contemporary diners
Sustainable entrepreneurship education: A systematic bibliometric literature review
The importance of shifting to a sustainable economy, based on new capabilities that would enable us to cope with the current turbulent changes is paramount. Entrepreneurs with sustainable concerns are considered to play a key role in the process by creating innovative, proactive, and risk assumption solutions, with both environmental and economic value. To date, there is no consensus on what capabilities education should provide so to create sustainable entrepreneurs able to cope with sustainability challenges. This piece of literature aimed to identify relevant factors for sustainable entrepreneurship education. Bibliographic databases were searched for documents published between 2012 and June 2023 to categorize central issues discussed in the literature on sustainable entrepreneurship education. The review process identified 61 empirical and non-empirical papers on sustainable entrepreneurship education (SEE). Data analysis revealed diverse models for sustainable entrepreneurship education (SEE) developed for use in both higher education institutions and secondary schools. Future research directions are underscored
Comparative analysis of incremental and traditional training methods under hardware limitations: The ViViT model case
Model training faces significant challenges in environments with hardware constraints. This study provides a comprehensive comparative analysis of incremental and traditional training methods, specifically evaluating their performance and stability under such constraints using video memorability prediction as the case study. Incremental training, which processes data in smaller batches, is hypothesized to offer more stable and consistent performance despite a longer training duration compared to the faster but potentially less stable traditional training method. The traditional model consistently shows lower errors and higher correlation, indicating better predictive accuracy and reliability. However, the strong Spearman correlation between the incremental and traditional model predictions and very low p-values suggests that the incremental model's predictions are closely aligned in ranking with those of the traditional model. This indicates that while the absolute performance of the incremental model is lower, its predictions are highly correlated with the traditional model, making it a viable alternative in scenarios with hardware limitations. Furthermore, we explore the application of transformer models, such as the Video Vision Transformer (ViViT), in predicting video memorability, high-lighting the importance of leveraging advanced deep learning techniques to enhance model efficiency and accuracy under constrained conditions
A scoping review of the use of blockchain and machine learning in medical imaging applications
This scoping review systematizes the current research related to the use of both blockchain and machine learning techniques in medical imaging applications. A systematic electronic search was performed, and twenty-five studies were included in the review. These studies aimed to use blockchain and machine learning techniques to provide (i) efficient security mechanisms to support the communication of medical imaging data, (ii) aggregation of distributed medical imaging data to train machine learning algorithms, and (iii) machine learning algorithms based on federated learning strategies. Among the ten machine learning techniques identified in the included studies, Convolutional Neural Network was the most representative (i.e., 44% of the studies). Moreover, Artificial Neural Network, Capsule Network, Deep Neural Network, Gated Recurrent Units, and Neural Network were machine learning techniques used by more than one study. Although the included studies developed algorithms with potential impact in clinical practice, it must be noted that they did not discuss the generalizability of their algorithms in real-world clinical conditions
Exploring the intersection between data-driven marketing and economics: A bibliometric review as a methodological solution
In a contemporary business scenario, we are witnessing a significant convergence between data-driven marketing and economics, triggering fertile ground for scientific research. One of the central themes that emerged from this exploration is the escalating economic significance of big data in marketing practices. With the digital age, these disciplines intertwine as marketing-driven data analysis intersects with economic principles. This crossover raises pertinent questions about the implications for economic dynamics as organizations increasingly rely on data to guide their marketing strategies. The analysis revealed emerging trends and research streams within data-driven marketing and economics. This scientific chapter emerged from a bibliometric review to address this intersection, highlighting data-driven marketing personalization, strategic segmentation, and consumer feedback on economic performance. By mapping trends, gaps, and debates in the literature, it aims to provide a more comprehensive understanding of these interdisciplinary dynamics
The influence of online reviews and electronic word-of-mouth on purchase intention: A literature review and research agenda
The rise of the internet has allowed consumers to exchange and share
consumption-related experiences through online reviews. This form of word of
mouth, referred to as electronicword-of-mouth (eWOM), can exert a strong impact
on consumers’ buying behavior. Accordingly, academic interest in investigating
the impact of eWOM has increased significantly over the last two decades.
Although many studies on the impact of eWOM have been published, the literature
is still fragmented, and scant attempts have been made to incorporate the
findings of the existing research. Therefore, we conducted a systematic literature
review to synthesize the findings of prior research and to explain the impact of
eWOM on consumers’ purchase intention. We found that age, involvement, and
product and consumer characteristics are identified as moderators, while brand
equity dimensions and trust act as mediator variables for the aforementioned relationship.
Finally, drawing on the TCCM framework, this study provides tentative
directions for future research
Understand fashion consumer profile sustainable textile in Portugal: Sustainable makers marketplace case study
The current paradigm that involves the fashion industry leads us to several topics considered relevant. Thus, the central theme of this article is to understand the profile of sustainable textile fashion consumers in Portugal. This investigation used the Sustainable Makers marketplace as a case study, in order to understand what strategies this project can implement considering the needs and values of consumers. The literature reveals, among other aspects, that more informed consumers have more trust in brands, especially these reveal their principles in relation to social and environmental sustainability. Some of the topics addressed are the consumer's purchase intention and behavior, social responsibility values, the purchase process, namely through e- commerce and through which media obtain information about the socially responsible practices of brands. It addresses the relationship between consumer and brand and the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic may have had on consumer choices in textile fashion. The recommendations presented serve to make Sustainable Makers an innovative and useful project for the final consumer
Artificial intelligence in the consumer behavior process in business
Artificial intelligence has significantly impacted the consumer behavior process in business. It has revolutionized how companies understand, interact with, and serve their customers. Businesses can understand sentiment, identify trends, and adjust their marketing and product strategies by analyzing social media data, customer reviews, and online interactions. Businesses can use these insights to make informed decisions about inventory management, pricing, and marketing strategies. AI can generate product descriptions, blog posts, and social media updates. This automation streamlines content creation processes and ensures a consistent online presence.
