L’educazione del popolo nella Public History of Education: istruire con i Catechismi repubblicani durante la Repubblica napoletana del 1799

    Get PDF
: During the very brief experience of the Neapolitan Republic of 1799, the pro-republican Neapolitan intellectuals entrusted the nation-state with the role of stateeducator in order to be able to activate innovative public education projects. Various propaganda and training tools for republican ideas were used, among these the republican catechism was a tool capable of shaping consciences by directing them towards the republican faith. The texts of the four lay catechisms, circulated during the Neapolitan republic of 1799, were first analyzed (also with the aid of software) and then interpreted: after all, to be able to understand a text well it is essential to enter the circle hermeneutic, that is, in the intricate fabric of knowledge, a stratified system of multiple interpretations. The pages of the republican catechisms of the Jacobean three-year period increase the Public History of Education, helping to better outline the different perspectives of civil pedagogy

The article derives from the desire to reconstruct the political events in Guatemala from 1944 to 1954. The events are interpreted through the lens of Italian diplomacy. Through an innovative contribution, it aims to delve deeper into a crucial historical period for Guatemala. Specifically, the paper attempts to answer how the alternation between “internal” (political-economic instability) and “external” (the breakdown of relations with Washington) fractures has conditioned the democratization process in the Central American state. The work is divided into two parts. The first focuses on a hemispheric perspective to examine the shift in inter-American relations from the end of World War II to the beginning of the Cold War. The second highlights a regional dimension to interpret the Central American Republic’s path toward socialism, culminating in the American intervention to delegitimize Árbenz’s administration

    Get PDF
Mario Apollonio entrusts the drama “La Duse” with the task of expressing his conception of the art of the actor. The actress is represented on stage, while she rehearses “The Lady of the Camellias”: in the magic circle of fiction, her human and spiritual itinerary is outlined. The script was proposed as a "prologue" to inaugurate the 1947-48 season of the Piccolo Teatro in Milan. Paolo Grassi's refusal to stage it will lead to Apollonio's resignation from the management committee of the Piccolo Teatro: “La Duse” had made explicit, and irreconcilable, political and cultural conflicts regarding the methods of implementing a program of public interest

Strategic lawsuits against public participation and their global relevance: Recent developments and persisting gaps in human rights law and in (EU) PIL

    No full text
The contribution analyses the phenomenon of SLAPPs (Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation) from the different, yet synergic, perspectives of Human Rights and Private International Law, in the light of the “anti-SLAPPs” Directive 2024/1069/EU. After analysing the phenomenon in the implications and possible future developments of the case law of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), the paper discusses the aspects of Private International Law that concern not only the European instruments of civil judicial cooperation (Brussels I bis and Rome II Regulations), but also the perspective of relations with third countries, in order to formulate some reflections de jure condito and de jure condendo. The thesis sustained in the contribution highlights the necessity to consider the global relevance of SLAPPs: while further homogeneity and structure of EU private international law in the field – in its capacity to address the phenomenon within the EU judicial space – would be an added value, it is equally true that SLAPPs are not confined to the EU judicial space and international cooperation may be required

Giovanni Donadio da Mormanno, musico, architetto, organaro

    Get PDF
This essay is dedicated to the extraordinary musician, architect and organ-builder Giovanni Donadio da Mormanno. A man of extraordinary culture and education, Mormanno was active at the Aragonese court in Naples. A schoolmaster in the Neapolitan art of organ building, his training as an architect most likely took place in the city of Naples itself, where he came into contact with the great architects of Florentine origin, such as Giuliano da Maiano, indicated by many as his praeceptor. At the same Aragonese court in Naples he was a musician, coming into contact with the great theorists of the time active there such as the Flemish Johannes Tinctoris. The study presented here takes into account an extensive bibliography, both ancient and more recent, and primary sources, which in many cases were lost during the Second World War, have been handed down to us from the regests of Gaetano Filangieri di Satriano
