...like a bridge over troubled waters: Giose Rimanelli’s Graffiti

    Get PDF
It fluctuates between two distinct universes showing the similarities of each: political, economic, and societal strife in Italy in the early 20th Century, and, later in the United States during the mid to late 20th. Each period takes their country down the path of civil revolt. The author offers cinematographic frames that present a glimpse of the cultural negativity occur ring within the country. These individual images will combine and create a contemporary version of a zoopraxiscope projection of a specific period: the mid-1960s

Urbanistica e sicurezza.

2020 - 2021The topic of urban security has become highly relevant in the urban agendas of cities and metropolitan areas. One of the main requirements for well- functioning cities and their sustainability is that they have secure streets and public spaces, as confirmed by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the 2030 Agenda, in particular SDG 11. Security in the city is hindered everyday by the occurrence of predatory crimes or incivility episodes that affect the perception of insecurity and increase fear. The latter is a real social problem, with actual and measurable impacts on the city' s functioning and the economy of the whole urban structure. The objective of making the city safer cannot be pursued exclusively through repressive or control actions, or sporadic social interventions. The complexity of the problem requires an integrated approach both in the assessment of security conditions and in the definition of appropriate intervention strategies, including environmental crime prevention strategies. The outlined strategies’ effectiveness depends on the knowledge of the specific context and on a complete risk scenario analysis, which is able to combine and synthesise all the aspects that contribute to the creation of security conditions. It is also noted that no instrument available in the literature provides an unambiguous definition, a complete assessment or a mapping method for the concept of crime risk and that there is an absence of explicit guidelines in municipal urban Plans. The research is integrated into the theme by proposing a crime risk mapping method that can be replicated in any territorial context. The composite crime risk index IRc, structured according to the territorial risk paradigm, combines the main aspects that contribute to the characterisation of risk scenarios. Through three risk factors (Hc, Vc, Ec), each of them described by appropriate indicators, it integrates: the probability of crime occurrence and, therefore, the probability of actual victimisation; the physical and functional predisposition of spaces to favour the occurrence of crimes or insecurity; information on the population, understood as an element exposed to crime risk. The crime risk map associated with the IRc index, structured in five risk classes (R1, R2, R3, R4, R5), gives a snapshot of the risk conditions of the studied territory. It highlights the presence, intensity and surface extension of the critical areas against which to evaluate appropriate intervention strategies. The outlined model also proposes the definition of specific actions for the municipal urban Plan in order to promote a systematic action of adapting spaces to security criteria. ..

    Get PDF
Boris Vian’s novel L’Écume des jours stands as a ‘palimpsest work’ for a sociological and intermedial study. Through a comparative analysis of the literary text (1947), the last film adaptation (2013) and the graphic novel (2020), it is indeed possible to highlight one of the main themes around which the plot revolves, i.e., work and the critique of industrial civilisation. The representation of the various declinations of the theme in the three languages under examination will be the Leitmotiv of this essay, which intends, finally, to propose an epistemological and theoretical-critical reflection on ‘industrial literature’ between Italy and France

    Get PDF
The following contribution aims to analyze the consequences of an approach based on the multi-transla- tion of Cent mille milliards de poèmes by Raymond Queneau. Multi-translation simultaneously provides the reader with different L2 versions of the same word or sentence. This approach allows to reflect on and consider the text from different points of view. Our proposed translation is based on the three different versions of the ten sonnets that constitute the original work. They can be summarized as follows: – translation 1 is realized without any support from dictionaries and consequently presents voluntary mistranslations; – translations 2 reprocesses the criticalities of T1 through the help of linguistic supports and literary criticism; – translation 3 recaptures the linguistic register variations of the original work. The multi-translation act is based on offering a wider range of options. Given the impossibility of deter- minacy in the act of translating, every version can be considered valid. The possibility of choice, creation and recreation widens the literary system to which the original work belongs

    Get PDF
The article analyses the latest creation of the Théâtre du Soleil, L'Île d'Or, through the prism of the relationship between theatre and the world. First, it traces its different declinations in the company's history, and then focuses on the performance. In a generative and metamorphic space, a kaleidoscopic, metatheatrical and self-fictional action takes shape, which talks, in a diffracted manner, about today’s world and reflects on the role that theatre can play in it

    Get PDF
Starting from the premise that Nicolas Mathieu’s novel Connemara (2022) delves into sociolinguistic inquiries, our contribution aims to observe the nuanced manifestations of sociolects and technolects, particularly in relation to the character of Hélène. Her linguistic interactions unveil a dual tension, rejecting both the vernacular family lexicon and the formal jargon prevalent in her career as a consultant. Drawing from Françoise Gadet’s research (2003), we will dissect colloquial vocabulary within its enunciative context, treating it as a performative act, and elucidate its nuances through consultation of general and specialized dictionaries. Our objective is to pinpoint codes capable of executing precise sociolinguistic functions – drawing from scholars such as Bourdieu (2001), Boyer (2017), and Calvet (2017) – and to illustrate that their adept manipulation serves to expose the profound social schisms within contemporary France
