droga, tradimenti, morte e fantasmi. The Neapolitan Giambattista Basile is the author of
the first written appearance of Cinderella in Europe
in the “Pentamerone” (1634), a collection of fairy tales which included his version of Rapunzel, Puss in
Boots, Sleeping Beauty and Hansel and Gretel. The
tale revolves around Cinderella, called Zezolla, who
commits murder and intimidates her father to reach
her goals. This dark tale of Cinderella is reprised by
Alessandro Rak and his animation studio Mad Entertainment in 2017, also influenced by De Simone’s “La
Gatta Cenerentola” (1976), a theatrical adaptation
of Basile’s tale. The story includes mafia, drug dealers, betrayals, death and ghosts
Civil liability is assuming an increasingly central role as a tool of
compensating for material or immaterial damage, in conjunction with or as an
alternative to other emerging techniques such as compensation, memorialisation or
restorative apology. There is a subtle continuity between the demolition of a statue,
institutionalised memory and the proposition of reparation actions inherent to
historical torts, as instruments for the valorisation of interests that are generally
prioritised and require political or legal recognition. The juridification of historical events, carried out through private law instruments such as civil liability, presents
aspects that are no less problematic than those of the various forms of epistemic repair,
and produces a profound reshuffling between different ordinamental logics, such as
those of public and private law, of municipal law or of international law. The civil
action, despite all its intrinsic limitations, remains an important and at least
complementary instrument with respect to other instruments for the reparation of
damages resulting from historical wrongs, such as the various compensation plans and
memorial policies. It frequently worked as a first step for the recognition of claims that
are destined to flow into the reconstruction of victims9 memories or the re-signification
of cultural heritag
Il saggio esplora la forma dell’espressione dialettale nella scrittura di Carlo Emilio Gadda, ipotizzando la natura delle sue radici nella forma primitiva della mente umana in grado di generare un linguaggio «affettivo, cioè uterino, cioè mitologico», come l’autore sembrerebbe teorizzare nelle pagine della “filosofica” Meditazione milanese (1928-1929), probabilmente mosso dalle suggestioni provenienti dalla lettura della vichiana Scienza nuova.his essay explores the form of dialectal expression in the works of Carlo Emilio Gadda, proposing that its roots lie in a process of human thought theorized by author, on the basis of his rending of Giambattista Vico’s Scienza Nuova, since his “philosophical” writing Meditazione milanese (1928- 1929), there he suggests that it is the primitive nature of the human mind which generates an «affettivo, cioè uterino, cioè mitologico» language, precisely that linguistic expression which in Gadda appears to take dialectal form
Despite recent editorial and critical efforts, aimed at freeing the works of Nino Savarese (Enna, 1882 – Roma, 1945) from a series of reiterated and conventional formulas (fragmentist, rondist, regionalist taste), a definitive recognition of the gnoseological value of his research is lacking. The identification of some unpublished correspondence with the most illustrious intellectuals of the 20th century (Bacchelli, Bonsanti, Borgese, Cardarelli, Cecchi, Contini, Falqui, Gatto, Piovene, Rosso di San Secondo, Tozzi, Vigolo), preserved in the Municipal Library of Enna - some of which reproduced in the appendix to this contribution - allows us to illuminate his figure and opus, reconstructing some essential junctions of his artistic career and, above all, to grasp the complexity of his writing, a prose of moral invention which combines the allegories by Voltaire with Leopardi’s thought, the Sicilian myths with a metaphysical impulse
Remaking Horror to Avoid Repeating History: Werner Herzog and ‘Nosferatu’
To address cultural and political issues facing Germany in the late 1970s filmmaker Werner Herzog decided to remake F.W. Murnau’s Nosferatu, one of the most famous German films from the early 1920s. In doing so Herzog was able to connect the country’s past issues with those of his present day, challenging his audience to recognize contemporary shortcomings not as new problems but instead as problems which, like Count Dracula himself, continually resurrect themselves. Herzog’s ability to connect his film with both the German artistic past and the historical past makes his version of Nosferatu an important artifact within New German Cinema
On 20-23 February, the University of Catania hosted the XXI Conference of the International movement for a new museology. The main focus has been how new museology may address today’s social and ecological challenges, and how new actions may be devised in order to promote practices of decolonization, collaborative networks and relations among communities, institutions, localities and disciplines.
This paper aims to present the results of the efforts to promote the historical archive of the Antonio Stoppani Comprehensive Institute in Milan – founded in 1902
and still open – recently put forward as part of the broader recovery project launched
in 2015 by the Stoppani School Association, in agreement with the Institute. The main
purposes of the project were to put in order the archive and create its inventory, making publicly available its documents, extensive and still unknown, in order to allow the
study and popularization of this precious cultural resource. The filing of the materials has
made it possible to shed light on a historical-educational heritage of considerable interest, capable of offering multiple approaches of interdisciplinary research. By investigating
these sources it was possible to activate educational paths and dissemination initiatives,
aimed at audiences of different ages, interests and socio-economic conditions, discovering
a cultural heritage in which we can recognize ourselves while promoting a community’s
social cohesion
Ipse est nostra pax. Alleanza, pace e cittadinanza in efesini 2,11-22: suggestioni dall’ideologia imperiale coeva
duplice: 1) una valutazione critica dei pregi e dei limiti delle posizioni esegetiche appena accennate;
dell’alleanza e con il riferimento al tema della cittadinanzaThe semantic density of the language of peace and its universal connotation in Eph 2:11-22 is
frequently underlined in exegetical research. Similarly, numerous authors highlight the potential un-
derlying contrast between the use of this language, serving the Christological proclamation, and the
emphasis on the universal nature of the Pax Romana in the Greek and Roman sources of the early
imperial period. Building upon these premises, the aim of this paper is twofold: 1) a critical evaluation
of the merits and limits of the aforementioned exegetical opinions; 2) a focus on contemporary extra-
biblical sources in the Greco-Roman context, where references to peace, linked to the imperium sine
fine and understood as a result of the beneficial (and unilateral) politics of the principes, are expres-
sed, as in Eph 2, through the use of covenant and alliance juridical language and with the reference
to the theme of citizenshi
