Decolonizing Through Public History – Introduction
Get PDFDecolonization is the subject of an abundant literature, both as a historical event and as a contemporary process. In relations with the past, debates have risen about issues such as colonial monuments, museum collections, and repatriation. Rather than dealing with a specific type of space, institution, or material, this special issue in International Public History offers a discussion on the many links between decolonization and public history. The articles explore if and to what extent public history practices can contribute to decolonizing the history production process (through decolonized sources, decolonized interpretation processes, and decolonized space of communication of history). The articles discuss what ‘public’ in ‘public history’ means: who is doing history, for whom, with whom, and for what? The self-reflective approach of public history also questions the colonial bias and processes at stake in institutions such as archives, museums, and universities. The special issue includes contributions from various countries (South Africa, Kenya, Brazil, Canada, and Japan) to foster discussions on the plurality of links between public history and decolonization in an international context that goes beyond the too-often Western oriented public history frameworks

Get PDFLa novità della poesia quasimodea si diffonde, nel periodo seguente al secondo conflitto mondiale, attraverso il filone e la raccolta delle “Nuove poesie”, la quale trasmette un cambiamento semantico, stilistico e tematico profondo, generato dallo sguardo verso la sofferenza dell’umanità intera dinanzi alla barbarie della guerra. Attraverso la lirica del poeta modicano, l’Europa intera trae ispirazione, dai sonetti di Neruda alla ‘Liberté’ di Éluard e dei simbolisti francesi, vessati dall’invasore nazista. Ciò che colpisce in questi componi menti, evinto anche tramite il valore traduttivo, è il vicendevole scambio di riflessioni sulla possibilità di redenzione dell’uomo dal peccato e la su rinascita o ritorno sulla base di valori etici e morali dalla profonda spiritualità.The novelty of quasimodea poetry spreads, in the period following the second world war, through the vein and the collection of “New poems”, which transmits a profound semantic, stylistic and thematic change, generated by the gaze towards the suffering of all humanity in front of the barbarity of war. Through the lyric of the modican poet, the whole of Europe draws inspiration from the sonnets of Neruda to the ‘Liberté’ of Éluard and the French symbolists, harassed by the Nazi invaders. What is striking in these compositions, also revealed through the translation value, is the mutual exchange of reflections on the possibility of redemption of man from sin and rebirth or return based on ethical and moral values from deep spirituality

Questo e vari altri aspetti hanno suscitato l’interesse di traduttori che si sono cimentati, non senza difficoltà, nell’impresa di tradurre il Natale napoletano di Eduardo. Ne risulta un quadro umanistico, linguistico e psico logico estremamente variegato che offre nume rosi spunti d’indagine nel presente saggio.Eduardo De Filippo defined his Christmas in Cupiellos’ House as «a trigeminal birth with a four-year pregnancy», which stands out among the many theatrical plays left by the Master because of its universality of plot and themes which make the comedy a worldwide exemple of topics always contemporary: the candid naivety of a man tied to traditional values, enthusiastic about building his crib, ignoring the criticism of his relatives. This and various other aspects have aroused the interest of translators who tried, not without difficulty, in the undertaking of translating Eduardo’s Neapolitan Christmas. The result is an extremely varied humanistic, linguistic and psychological framework that offers numerous points of investigation in this essay
Doing History at the Edge of the Map: The “Digital Thrace” Research Project
Get PDFDigital Thrace: Mapping the History and Culture to Enhance the Tourist Economy” is a three-year (2021–2023) research project conducted by the Democritus University of Thrace. “Thrace,” a geographical rather than a regional or political designation, is divided into three nation-states (Greece, Bulgaria, and Turkey). Despite historical nationalist conflicts and ethnic stereotypes, Thrace maintains its multicultural character. This article shows that the Digital Thrace Project not only generates research but also transforms it into knowledge and cultural experiences for visitors. It bridges the gap between academic historiography and cultural studies on one side and the public space on the other. This multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary project employs cutting-edge technologies to provide two main components to its users: a digital platform primarily aimed at researchers and educators, and a digital tour application for the general public. Special attention is devoted to the project’s pedagogical section. Based on the principles and methodologies of intercultural and democratic education, over 30 educational projects have been designed for primary and secondary school classes. These projects aim to engage students in exploring not only the history and culture of their own communities but also those of the others

Con Federico, il discorso si allarga nelle operazioni di gloria carliana, anche nel culto delle anime purganti. When Comics Become Part of a Thesis Project
Get PDFThis article outlines my doctoral thesis project that began in October 2021. Given the interdisciplinary nature of this hybrid doctoral project, the challenge is twofold. First, bridging the gap between a historical analysis of an object of study, using archival research and, second, a self-reflection on the production of a comic strip, its communication and accessibility, both requiring constant adaptation of the methodology. The first part of the thesis is concerned with answering the research questions relating to wartime godmothers during the First World War in France. Numerous sources have been identified to answer these questions. The second part of the thesis is the creation of a fictional comic strip in collaboration with a female cartoonist. Given that this is a work in progress, the article sets out the initial results and highlights the benefits and challenges of this interdisciplinary practice that have been discovered so far

potestative per altri. Inoltre, e di conseguenza, occorre chiarire la questione del ‘possesso interinale
di Virginia’ e della identificazione del soggetto legittimato a rivestire il ruolo di adsertor in
libertatem.
Proprio per la complessità delle questioni sollevate, una parte autorevole della moderna
romanistica ha finito per svalutare la testimonianza liviana, proponendo differenti conclusioni sulla
base di Dion. Hal. 11.29.1-3.
Rispetto alle questioni discusse si è inteso proporre una diversa interpretazione motivata non
solo sulla corretta decodificazione del testo liviano, ma anche di Tab. 1. 6-9, di Gai 4.16 e della natura
popolare dell’intervento dell’adsertor in libertatem, rispetto al quale ritengo che la legittimazione ad
agire fosse estesa anche al di fuori della familia e della gens, come comprovato dal fatto che Icilio,
cioè il fidanzato di Virginia, assume le vesti di adsertor in libertatem nella fase in iure
