ANALYSIS OF QUALITY CONTROL OF SOY CHIPS WITH THE SIX SIGMA METHOD IN RAGILE SMEs, KEDIRI REGENCY
Get PDFTempe is a typical Indonesian food that is in great demand by Indonesian people, apart from its delicious taste, the price is also relatively cheap. Tempe can be processed into various kinds of processed tempe products, one of the processed tempe products is tempe chips. This research was carried out in April 2022, at Ragile UMKM, Kediri Regency. This study aims to reduce product defects by quality control and determine what factors affect the quality of soybean chip products. The data analysis method used to answer the objectives of this study is data analysis using the Six Sigma method, which is a philosophy in reducing and preventing defects so that costs are reduced and customers are satisfied with the expected product. Six Sigma is also defined as a well-designed approach to identify and eliminate defects, errors or failures in business processes or systems with a focus on the performance characteristics of these processes that are of interest to consumers. The results of this study are the types of product defects that occur in the production of Ragile MSME soybean chips including non-full round defects, double defects and thick defects. The highest defects occur in the size of defects that are not full circle with a defect percentage of 90.38%. This UMKM has a sigma value of 2.7 or it can be said that it is included in the category of the standard level of the Indonesian industry average. The solution to the factors that cause product defects caused by the fermentation place is to provide shelves so they are not exposed to direct sunlight, the hot room environmental factor is to provide a fan in the production room, and the factor of workers who are negligent in cleaning the chopping machine is by make SOP on the use of chopper machine

ACCESSING THE LEVEL OF TOTAL PRODUCTIVE MAINTENANCE IMPLEMENTATION: THE CASE OF A NIGERIAN FABRICATION COMPANY
Get PDFThe maintainability and reliability of manufacturing systems plays an important role in accessing both the quality and quantity of the products. However, practicing unscheduled preventive maintenance approach can pose high cost to the firm which can adversely minimize the reliability of the manufacturing line. This work is aimed at optimizing the overall total productive maintenance of a manufacturing system. A model was proposed to optimize the OEE value for the fabrication company. The OEE of the firm factor by factor before and after implementation of the MINLP and TPM-TQM-OEE model was assessed. After six months of implementation, the availability is 87% which is about 10.2% improvement, the performance ratio is 91% which is about 10.4% improvement and the quality ratio is 93% which is about 9.6% improvement as compared to the values of OEE factors before implementation. The OEE value also increased from 56% to 75% which is about 33% improvement. This research also tried to identify the most significant factor of OEE using the TPM-TQM-OEE model. The result showed that the OEE is mostly influenced by Availability (about 88%), followed by Performance rate (about 85%) and finally by Quality rate (about 82%). Reliability analysis among other analysis should always be considered during optimization maintenance practices
THE EFFECT OF HYBRID STEEL FIBER ON CONCRETE PERFORMANCE
Get PDFThis study is aimed at examining the possible improvements on the fracture properties of concrete containing more than one fibre type. Several mixtures were elaborated in this study. To study the fracture properties and load resistance at various scales, discrete short brass fibres and double-hooked steel fibres were added in concrete. Different types of concrete mixtures were prepared and tested which contained varying proportions of steel and brass fibres up to 0.4% volume fraction. The effects of different hybrid fibre combinations at low and high dosages were investigated for compressive strength, splitting tensile strength and flexural strength. Test results indicated that the different hybrid fibre combinations played a significant crack arresting properties depending upon the fibre properties (size and fibre availability). The presence of steel fibres provided post crack resistance properties whereas the shorter brass fibres delayed the crack origination resulting in significant increase in mechanical strength. The hybrid fibre concretes containing steel fibres (0.3% Vf) and brass fibres (0.2% Vf) showed a consistent increase in the ultimate stress capacity up to 7.75% (in compression) and 37.98% (in fracture strength). Microscopic studies showed the effectiveness of different hybrid fibres during crack formation and subsequent propagation at different loading stresses.
