Section Classification of Multiple Speakers and Single Speaker Focusing on Amplitude Information and Phase Information for Creating Large-Scale Dialogue Speech Corpus
Get PDFapplication/pdfCurrently, the necessity of a large-scale speech corpus is increasing, due to development of the end-to-end synthetic speech system. In order to creating a speech corpus from conversational speech, the speech is cut out for each speaker and annotationis performed. Since this task is very burdensome, this study is a basic study of speech corpus creation support. In this study, we propose multiple speakers and a single speaker section classification from dialogue speech as support for speech corpus creation. In particular, we compared section classifications based on phase as well as amplitude as speech features. In addition, the difference between CNN and RNN classification results was discussed. As a result, multi-speaker and single-speaker can be classified by using speech phase information. The Present State of Airlines Connecting East Asia : An Airfare Based Investigation
Get PDFapplication/pdfThis paper examines the current situation of the airlines connecting East Asia. In recent years, airlines all over the world have changed significantly owing to the development of Open Skies and the rise of low-cost carriers. Although these changes are gradually occuring in East Asia, little research has been done regarding the current situation, and statistical data about airfare levels are somewhat lacking. This is the first study to investigate cross-border airfare levels in the East Asia region. An overview of the passenger flow shows high activity. The airfare-based investigation described here indicates that the airlines in this region are only beginning to change and suggests that they will develop uniquely owing to the special conditions of the market. It is likely that we will see dramatic changes in the future.journal articl
The Birth of National Literature in Brittany through Barzas-Breiz : Against the Backdrop of the Concept of Nation and Romanticism in France in the Nineteenth Century
Get PDFapplication/pdfWhen considering the origins of nationalism, in Europe in the 19th century, the issue of the nation or ethnicity was almost exclusively taken up with language. In general, language was understood as identifying ethnicity: the language peculiar to an ethnicity gained the status of a national language and became the basis for promoting political nationalism by bringing individuals from an ethnic group together as a community.
In Europe during the 19th century, the idea that language and ethnicity were basically inseparable was reflected in the ideas of Herder, Fichte and the tide of romanticism. For many ethnic groups at that time the mission in forming a nation or an independent country was to create a history and literature written in their own language. Folk songs and folklore, which are traditions transmitted via the languages of local ethnic people, especially farmers, attracted attention as the basis for the formation of national history and literature. That is why their collection and publication were vigorously conducted.
In 1839, Hersart de la Villemarqué’s Barzas-Breiz Chants populaires de la Bretagne was published in that context. This collection, considered as an ethnic epic, has been evaluated as having greatly influenced the birth of the ethnic movement in Brittany. The aim of this paper is to examine the relationship between nationalism and literature, especially popular poetry and folk songs, to trace the discourses about Barzas-Breiz, by literary figures who were more or less actively involved in this movement, and to clarify how this collection contributed to the birth of ethnic

University English Education as a Liberal Arts Education and Changes in Students' English Proficiency
Get PDFapplication/pdfThis paper reports the changes in English proficiency measured by TOEIC scores during the two-year liberal arts education period for university students enrolled between 2013 and 2017. This is not simply a comparison between the time of admission and the end of the second year, but an analysis of the changes in English proficiency over two years based on a close look at the results of five TOEIC tests administered towards the end of each semester. The analysis revealed that while the English proficiency of students generally improved at the end of the second year, they didn't necessarily achieve their peak scores during the final semester of the second year and that their score range, or the difference in English proficiency among students, widened over time. According to the analysis by semester, there were ups and downs in their scores over two years, but all in all, the performance in the first semester of the first year was excellent, and it tended to slow down in the second year.journal articl
