Benefits of athletic scholarships: the alumni athletes of UM Tagum College in focus

This investigation will provide important insights about the benefits of their athletic scholarships in their current undertaking in life. In order to have a better understanding and in-depth analysis of the perspectives of alumni athletes on the benefits of athletic scholarship in their present undertakings, this study employed qualitative type of research design with thematic analysis approach. In this study the participants are the alumni athletes of UM Tagum College. Upon doing the study the researchers used a purposive sampling. The results of the study revealed that most of the alumni athletes revealed the benefits of sport scholarships in building their present career and present job itself. This includes athletic Scholarship is beneficial in terms of financial support, athletic Scholarship develops time management and productivity and athletic scholarship is a way of learning self-discipline and life techniques. In as much as this, it entails and showed that alumni athletes have gained various benefits. Most of the alumni athletes revealed that the benefits of sport scholarships in them can be seen in building their present career and present job itself.378.34vii, 78 page
Anxiety of oral recitation and academic performance among DTE students
No full textAcademic performance is the measurement of student achievement across various academic subjects. However, there are instances that students failed to do certain task. It is because of anxiety which is the most common problem that every student encountered in having oral performances. It happened when students started to perform and they feel that they are the focus of the attention of their classmates and teacher. Anxiety can affect the student’s productivity and academic performance in many ways. This study analyzed the level of student’s anxiety in oral recitation and their academic performance. Also, to determine the significant relationship between the two variables. There were 178 randomly selected DTE students participated in this study. Furthermore, this research work uses a descriptive design with Likert’s scale as being used in gathering data. After obtaining the data, the data were analyzed using weighted mean. The results shows that the student’s anxiety in oral recitation was in moderate level which means that anxiety in oral recitation were sometimes observed. Meanwhile, the results of their academic were low due to the effect of anxiety. Therefore, the results revealed that there is no significant relationship between anxiety in oral recitation and academic performance

surveyed to know if there were significant differences in the level of financial accessibility among t-shirt printing services when grouped according to the respondent's profile. The data were collected and treated statistically using Mean, Frequency, and ANOVA to give significant results. Results showed the Financial Distress, got the highest overall mean of 4.40. Next, is the area of Financial Services, with an overall mean of 4.37. Lastly, in terms of Transaction Cost, that got the lowest overall mean of 4.32 but still, all the results got the descriptive equivalent of very high meaning the respondents were highly having financial accessibility. The researchers came up to the conclusion that financial distress, got the highest result, it is a condition in which a company or individual cannot generate sufficient revenues or income, making it unable to meet or pay its financial obligations. This is generally due to high fixed costs, a large degree of illiquid assets or revenues sensitive to economic downturns, and Poor budgeting, inability to collect accounts receivables on time can also cause severe cash flow problems, and poor accounting practices are other potential causes of financial distress. The researchers highly recommend to the financial institutions to offer some financial services that might help the businesses like t-shirt printing shops since as a way of helping them grow their business for it will enable the country to improve its economic condition whereby there is more production in all the sectors leading to economic growth
Antibacterial face mask filter utilizing ginger/PVA electrospun microfibers
No full textIn Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of Bachelor of Science in Chemical EngineeringThe public has been taking preventive measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, one of which is wearing a face mask. These face masks, however, have pores bigger than the virus itself. Thus, this study focused on synthesizing antibacterial face mask filters using Ginger/Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) electrospun microfiber. The mask’s breathability, bacterial filtration efficiency, mechanical property, and wettability were also evaluated. Three different solutions were formed with varying concentrations of Ginger extract (10%, 50%, and 100%). The microfibers produced by the electrospinning process were crosslinked before testing. The surface morphology shows that at 10% ginger/PVA microfibers, the average diameter is 2.947±0.392 μm. The average number of bacterial colonies for 10%, 50%, and 100% Ginger/PVA were 0.000±0.000, 1.000±0.1010, and 4.333±3.055, respectively. Furthermore, water contact angle analysis showed that 10% Ginger/PVA microfibers have a greater contact angle (60.236±8.609o) than 100% Ginger/PVA microfibers (40.222±4.829o). Nonetheless, all concentrations showcased hydrophilic behavior. Moreover, mechanical test results imply that annealing treatment increases the microfibers' strength and elongation (19.645 mm, 23.500 mm, 32.110 mm > 13.704 mm, 14.947 mm, 29.095 mm). The breathability test revealed that pure PVA microfibers have lower porosity due to decreasing pore size and spaces between fibers (41.270% < 32.201%). The antimicrobial activity (10.127±0.585 mm, 10.343±0.691 mm, 10.817±0.513 mm) and bacterial filtration efficiency (99.167%, 99.808%, 100%) increase as the concentration of the Ginger/PVA solution increases, making produced microfiber a potential antibacterial face mask filter
Pursuit to survive: a phenomenological inquiry on online business sustainability

Many earlier studies on online business have focused on its benefits to the economy and how it affects different enterprises. Still, none have focused on how online business owners survive in a competitive market. The purpose of this phenomenological study was to explore strategies of online businesses owners in Tagum City, Davao Del Norte, used to sustain their businesses in the long run, especially during the pandemic. Data were collected from 14 online business owners who have operated for more than three years in Tagum City. Seven individuals were interviewed, and another seven participated in a focused group discussion. The data was examined using thematic analysis, which entailed organizing, coding, grouping data into common themes relevant to the study issue, and interpreting the results. The results show that online business owners struggled to handle customers, capital, fraud, and online visibility. The online business owners' experiences led to develop coping methods such as customer satisfaction, goal-setting, strong customer relationships, efficient use of online platforms, proper money management, perseverance, and adaptability. It also explores the participants' issues, abilities, and limitations, providing new insights and perspectives. The results of this study could contribute to positive social change by providing information to the online business owners about successful strategies for business sustainability, which can help existing and future online business owners. It could give an idea of the online business system and how to sustain it.x, 165 page
Food labeling knowledge of Tagum City: an assessment

This review examined how food labeling affects the food preference of consumers. The survey questionnaire has been utilized as an instrument to gather data from 960 respondents through 5 barangays in Tagum City. Mean is the statistical tool used to determine the food labeling knowledge of Tagum City.
The result showed that Food Labelling Knowledge is moderate among all indicators; therefore, researchers conclude that consumers in Tagum City didn't practice checking the food labeling. Moreover, the educational background and marital status also do not impact consumers' preferences on scanning the food labeling.
To address this problem, the researchers highly recommend to the consumers that department sectors of food and drug administration, food processing sector, and food manufacturing sector should collaborate effort to conduct seminars, webinars and create a video program presenting the use of food labeling in food items by the users of social media it will help to spread information to prevent problems that may arise due to the lack of knowledge and awareness on food labels. Consumers should be careful in choosing food items to avoid unnecessary health problems upon buying them

The researcher used the descriptive research method in conducting the research through the distribution of questionnaires and the collection of research data. The number of respondents to this study was 100 persons in the urban area of Davao City. The questionnaire used was validated by two experts and distributed to appropriate respondents. This paper presents an analysis and interpretation of data collected from respondents through questionnaire distribution. The findings show that financial planning among constituents during the pandemic in Barangay 33-D represents a moderate level of financial Planning in terms of financial behavior, financial knowledge, and financial attitude and no significant difference when grouped according to profile. In addition, this study recommends that the barangay LGUs conduct a seminar about financial Planning and encourage everyone to join to change their financial behavior
Dominant narrative of Pinoy BL movies: A socio-cultural approach
No full textThis study sought to investigate the primary storyline of Pinoy BL films. It aimed to address the dominating narratives of Filipino BL films as well as the important lessons about gender that these narratives teach. 7 participants were living in Panabo City at the time of the study. The volunteers, who ranged in age from 21 to 35 and were highly educated, represented the many ethnic and religious groups prevalent in the Philippines, particularly in Panabo City. They were both urban and rural participants. Movies and videos were employed in this qualitative study as data collection instruments, as sources of information and conversation between researchers and participants, and as channels for sharing research findings. The study utilized a phenomenological research design because it explored the dominant narrative of Pinoy BL movies. Phenomenological research is a strategy where researchers can explore the participant’s viewpoint and experiences to develop patterns over a prolonged period, along with the point of view. As a result, it is indicated that the dominant narrative of BL Movie contains a wealth of gender lessons because it is not just about "kilig" but also the difficulties faced by the third sex group. As a result of the study's findings, viewpoint narrative predominates in the proposed film since most of the lines represent the characters' experiences or points of view. The quantity of information the narrator communicates with the reader is determined by the various lines designated as viewpoint narrative

Nowadays people preferred a modern public library that is appealing and a comfortable place where they can do their work, peacefully and figure out new stuffs while not feeling like being compressed. As a result, the researcher will propose a paper that intends to investigate patron attributes, based on its architecture and facility features for the public library. This study aims to discover the lacking and challenges of the facility and services of the public library that may affect for the users and offer a solution for the public library’s future improvement. Reality of the press in Philippine online social media : understanding clickbait and its features

Through Chakraborty et al.‟s method of identifying clickbait, we looked at the headlines through sentence structure, word patterns, and clickbait language used. The collected data were carefully inspected and deliberated through media discourse analysis. The study revealed that compound and complex sentences are the dominant structures found in the gathered headlines. Moreover, it showed that unusual punctuation patterns, cardinal
numbers, and contracted words are frequently used in terms of word patterns. In terms of clickbait language, the usual usage of hyperbolic terms, common clickbait phrases, and determiners are commonly found in the headlines. Altogether, the study‟s result unveiled that the headlines embodying the features are categorized as clickbait headlines following Chakraborty‟s method of classifying clickbait
