Influence of ethical climate on the organizational effectiveness of the Philippine National Police /
The Philippine National Police (PNP) faces challenges, spanning
governance, corruption, and national security threat, securing a strong
leadership pipeline to equipped not only to face these challenges, but also to
strengthen policing effectiveness and over all security reforms sector. This
study aims to map out the main factors that build or erode key leadership
qualities and performance in the PNP. The study used a correlational
technique in a quantitative, non-experimental design. The responders were
the 400 police personnel of Davao City. The mean, Pearson-r, and regression
were utilized to determine the study's findings. Additionally, questionnaires
customized for ethical climate, and organizational efficiency were used. The
results indicate that the ethical climate is extremely high, and the ethical
climate is significantly correlated with organizational effectiveness. Moreover,
ethical climate can influence organizational effectiveness but with the help of
other variables. Likewise, this study has determined the importance of
innovative behavior of administrators in achieving organizational
effectiveness. It also underscores the need for a deeper analysis of
recruitment and selection policies, to ensure that the PNP successfully
attracts the strongest candidates with the right leadership characteristics and
building blocks for service.

The performance of talahib (saccharum spontaneum) grass with polyester resin particle
In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of Bachelor of Science in Civil EngineeringThis research evaluated the performance of a particle board made from talahib grass (Saccharum spontaneum) and polyester resin as a binding agent. Following the guidelines established by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), the board's physical (density, water absorption, thickness swelling, and flammability) and mechanical (modulus of rupture and modulus of elasticity) qualities were evaluated. This research also compared the results to the existing particle board in the market and performed a cost analysis. According to the results, the talahib grass particle board is 19% more expensive than the market price of medium-density particle board. The physical properties of the board revealed that the density and water absorption were significantly higher than the typical medium-density board, with an optimum value of 1204.44 kg/m3 and 1.47%, respectively. While the thickness swelling test results show no significant change, the flammability test results show that the board was less susceptible to re due to the lower weight loss. In terms of mechanical properties, the board's Modulus of Rupture (MOR) is much higher than that of a typical medium-density board, with an optimum value of 52.02Mpa. At the same time, the Modulus of Elasticity (MOE) does not meet any particle board standards. Conclusively, as the study shows that the talahib grass significantly impacts the board's physical and mechanical quality, it was also suitable for manufacturing the particle board

Researchers conducted multiple experiments and gathereddata throughout the allotted time. The testing of coconuts starts with deshelling the coconut and then feeding the samples tothe machine. After experimenting, the researchers sorted the coconut according to the percentageof the unpeeled part of the coconut testa. The researchers had difficulties during the experiment dueto the irregularity of the coconut's shape. The result of themachine's effectiveness may vary to the lower percentage ofthe unpeeled area of the testa
Disaster response and management barriers : a responders perspective /
The general objective of this study is to uncover the lapses and the unseen
barriers existing in disaster response management in Davao City. The data was
collected through a survey questionnaire with 400 respondents in Davao City
responders. The findings show a significant relationship between disaster
response and management barriers. The University of Mindanao Davao City
could consider collaborating with the NGO's, and other agencies to organize
disaster preparedness and response exercises that involve the students,
faculty, and staff. This will help build a culture of preparedness within the
university community and provide opportunities for hands-on training and
learning. By implementing these measures, the University of Mindanao Davao
City can help ensure the safety and well-being of its students, faculty, and staff
during disasters and contribute to building a more resilient community.

The New Saint Theresa College Tandag City : a thermally comfortable school campus through passive cooling and bioclimatic architecture : an application of the assessment of ventilation performance of awning and jalousie windows in the high school classrooms of Saint Theresa College Tandag City
In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree Bachelor of Science in ArchitectureClassrooms in the Philippines are mostly built on economical standardized designs. One of these economic constraints is using windows such as jalousies and awning windows. With this economic approach in mind, the indoor environmental quality of classrooms is often overlooked in the country. The study will determine if the air velocity of naturally ventilated classrooms with awnings and jalousie windows can provide acceptable ventilation rates based on ASHRAE 55 (2017) Standards. The study used a quantitative research method and collected data from site measurements and student surveys. Site measurement data were assessed by t-testing to test whether the commonly used classroom windows perform within, below, or above the preferred ventilation rate ranges by ASHRAE and identify whether one of the window types performs better than the other. The results show that classrooms fitted with both windows performed within the ASHRAE range, with jalousie having a mean air velocity of !!=0.25m/s and jalousie windows having a mean air velocity of !!=0.63m/s. However, the air temperature performance of both windows was above the ASHRAE range by a considerable margin. Students rated the classrooms with jalousie windows as "averagely windy" and "slightly cool" and rated the classrooms with awning windows as "okay but less windy" and "neutral" in thermal performance. The test results showed a significant difference between the two windows, with the jalousie windows performing 39.6% better than awning windows in air velocity and 2.29% in air temperature. Level III design proposal for local potable water distribution facility in Poblacion, Nabunturan

The residents can use it in agriculture, infrastructure, and daily needs such as water consumption, food, hygiene, etc. Making water management a necessity to help improve our country's economic development. Thus, with the growing population, the demand for water supplies increases. With this idea in mind, the Department of Interior and Local Government Regional Office XI (DILG XI) tapped the academe like the University of Mindanao to fast-track the flow of projects on Sagana at Ligtas na Tubig Para sa Lahat (SaLinTubig) for the year 2020. This study aimed to provide rural communities in Poblacion, Nabunturan a safe, reliable, and convenient source of drinking water. The proponents of this research achieved this by utilizing the Simplified Feasibility Study (SFS) conducted by the local prime professionals, followed by a site visitation activity to further attest to the surveyed data. Geo-tagging of proposed locations of distribution lines was identified and crafted. The proponents also verified the groundwater source and its type and used AutoCAD to plot the profile elevation for the initial water distribution system design. The proponents analyzed the initial plan to meet its hydraulic capacity (EPAnet) and structural integrity (STAAD Pro.) to ensure the parameters needed for a level three plan. The final design phase includes utilizing the analytic results, which produced the adequate combination of pipe fittings vital in the distribution line. The minimum dimensions of the water tank capable of supplying the projected population are detailed. Also, the plan provided individual service entrances or faucets for this design proposal to be considered a level three design. After crafting the final design, overall cost estimates are conducted and submitted to the local prime professionals for future budget allocation.
The effect of garcinia mangostana on the yield strength of grade-40 structural steel
In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree Bachelor of Science in Civil EngineeringThis paper examines the effects of the extract from the pericarp of Garcinia mangostana as a corrosion inhibitor when mixed with water and hydrochloric acid as binding agents to the physical properties of a grade-40 structural steel. With regards to its appearance, weight, and tensile strength, upon being duly exposed to a corrosive substance and to an open-air environment that imitates the familiar environment where such steels are stored in most construction projects. The data required were gathered by observing the weight differences from the different samples before and after their exposure to the corrosive substance. These were then computed to determine their corrosion rate and degree. To gauge the effects of corrosion on the internal properties of the mild steel, a Universal Testing Machine was used. This test recognizes the difference between the actual ultimate yield stress and the acknowledged average ultimate yield stress of a grade-40 structural steel, equivalent to 280 megaPascals. Although the corrosive substance had noticeable effects on the specimen, such effects were mildly negated by the Garcinia mangostana and hydrochloric acid mixture. Results have suggested that such a mixture can help prolong the shelf-life and preserve its physical properties externally and not internally. Against all the different Garcinia mangostana Corrosion inhibitor concentrations used in this study, the 1g/mL Garcinia mangostana corrosion inhibitor concentration proved the most effective against the corrosive solution and corrosion, in general. Regarding internal damages exhibited by the corrosive solution, in this case, the ultimate yield strength of the grade-40 structural steel, the Garcinia mangostana Corrosion Inhibitor proved ineffective and insignificant when computed through the t-test
Potential groundwater recharge zone map in Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS)

techniques and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) model. The map incorporates various
influencing thematic layers sourced from local government agencies and generated through simulations in ArcGIS software. The thematic layers are Land Use/Land Cover (LULC), Geology, Soil, Slope, Lineament, Drainage, and Rainfall. These thematic layers are
validated using existing data and maps from the Island Garden City of Samal-City Planning and Development Office. In generating the recharge zone map, the thematic layers are overlaid using weighted overlay analysis, and the weights are determined using the AHP method, following Saaty's 1980 approach. After generating the groundwater recharge zone map, it is crucial to validate its accuracy and reliability. This validation process involves comparing the map with the locations of existing well and employing key informant interviews. By cross-referencing with existing wells, we can assess the map's alignment with existing groundwater resources. Additionally, key informant interviews provide valuable insights from residents and barangay officials, validating the map practically. This study provides an effective and reliable groundwater recharge zone map by combining GIS software techniques, AHP model, and rigorous validation methods. The groundwater recharge zone map shows the location of groundwater resource level of potentiality that can serve as a valuable tool for water resource management and groundwater source planning in the Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS)
Production of bio-briquettes from nanosized durio zibethinus (durian) peels and seed starch adhesive
In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree Bachelor of Science in Chemical EngineeringBio-Briquettes as an alternative fuel source in charcoal briquettes were produced from agricultural waste Durio zibethinus (durian) peel using the seed as an adhesive. Nanonization of the durian peel and seed was applied as a modification in this study. Bio-briquette production was prepared at different experimental ratios and binder concentrations to determine the optimal conditions. The bio-briquette has varied nanostarch- to-water ratios of 1:8, 1:10, and 1:12, and binder concentrations of 65%, 75%, and 85% were tested for each ratio. Three trials were conducted per experimental ratio. The particle size distribution and surface morphology of nanosized durian peel and starch were analyzed through FE-SEM Imaging with EDS Mapping. Also, the physical and mechanical properties of bio-briquettes, such as bulk density and shatter index, were then investigated. Moreover, bio-briquette was characterized by the proximate analysis and caloric value. The result shows that the bio-briquette was optimized at a 1:10 nanostarch-to-water ratio and 75% binder concentration. It had a density of 543.37 kg/m3, a shatter index percentage of 95.97%, a calorific value of 29.42 MJ/kg, a moisture content of 6.65% by w/w, a volatile combustible matter of 33.7% by w/w, an ash content of 11% by w/w, and a fixed carbon of 55.3% by w/w. The values obtained were compared with Indonesian National Standards (SNI – 01 – 6235 – 2000), British Standards (BS 1016-108- 108.1:1992), and Japanese Standards for Briquette. Hence, based on the results, the bio-briquette made from nanosized durian peels and seeds as a binder has a strong potential to be an alternative source of biofuel
Disaster education in elementary school curriculum: Basis for framework designing
This research aimed to develop a school curriculum framework for disaster education in elementary schools. This is a qualitative-phenomenological study that examines how elementary school teachers teach disaster education to their students. Data was gathered through the use of guided interview questions, and the conduct of in-depth interviews. Based on the result of the study, the researchers captured the key experiences of the teachers and the most common approaches being utilized to disaster education in elementary schools, which include the integration of disaster-related themes and topics into specific school subjects, particularly in Science, Health, Araling Panlipunan, and Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao, disaster advocacy campaign through the use of various digital and online platforms, and social media, training and seminars to pupils on how to respond to disasters through the conduct of drills, utilization of safety equipment, evacuation and rescue procedure, first-aid training and the like, and instilling pro-active attitude and discipline of the learners in responding to disasters. Moreover, with reference to this study, a school curriculum framework on disaster education was developed, which will serve as the guiding tool for all disaster education efforts at the school level, congruent with DepEd's education targets in the context of elementary schools’ safety and disaster resilience, as well as school disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) programs, projects, and activities
