Upcycling of distillery waste of fermented molasses into a microfertilizer
In Partial Fulfilment of the Requirements for the Degree of Bachelor of Science in Chemical EngineeringEthanol distillation generates large amounts of undesired wastewater called Distillery Spent Wash. To eliminate undesirable wastewater, it undergoes various procedures such as the stabilization treatment, micro fertilizer synthesis, and drying process to produce quality plant nutrition products. Micro fertilizers with and without ammonia with a particle size ranging from 1– 2.6 μm and a central diameter range to 1–1.753 μm are the
product's results. The FTIR analysis of micro fertilizers with ammonia and without ammonia includes valence oscillations of the O-H and C-H bond with a hydroxyl (OH) group. Carbon atom (C), C=C, or oxygen C-O atoms. EDX analysis of micro fertilizer with ammonia comprised of N, O, Al, Si, K, and Ca micronutrient elements. In contrast, the sample of micro fertilizer without ammonia contained micronutrient elements of O, Mg, Al, Si, Mo, K, and Ca. Both fertilizers were applied to various plants (bok choy and radish). As a result, bok choy plants' height had an average value of 10.53 inches ± 3.044 in the 6% concentration, which has the presence of ammonia and has average leaf length and width of 5.533 inches ± 0.513 and 5.8 inches ± 0.2. The radish plants' height had an average value of 13.333 inches ± 0.577 in the uncontrolled plants, and the average leaf length and width of 5.933 inches ± 0.115 and 1.768 inches ± 0.252
An experimental study on utilizing bioenzymes from fermented orange peel (citrus reticulata) waste as replacement for stabilizers for soil in road pavements
In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree Bachelor of Science in Civil EngineeringRoad transportation plays a pivotal role in every civilization and nation. Soft soil is a primary contributor to pavement failures due to its inability to maintain its original shape and develops stress along its physical and geotechnical characteristics. In hindsight, various soil stabilizers have emerged in civil engineering, including the utilization of bioenzymes. The study investigated the effectiveness of varying dosages of bioenzyme from fermented orange peel (Citrus reticulata) waste as soil stabilizer in a seven (7-day) curing period. The potential of hydrogen (pH) meter, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), and chemical oxygen demand (COD) content through a titrimetric method and a closed reflux method characterized the waste of fermented orange peel
(Citrus reticulata) . The obtained data were analyzed and investigated in terms of consistency, compaction, California bearing ratio (CBR), and swelling. The result demonstrates that 20 mL/50 kg of bioenzyme is the optimum dosage for the selected soft soil for maximum dry density (MDD) and swelling. In contrast, the 25 mL/50 kg dosage of bioenzyme has shown minimal improvements on the selected soft soil in terms of optimum moisture content (OMC) and plasticity characteristics. The present study concludes that the overall results have shown nominal improvements, yet it needs to conform to the standard subgrade requirement for road pavements. Moreover, further examination of the effects of bioenzyme in various curing days and the use of higher dosages may also help in utilizing the soil to conform to the standard subgrade requirement

cepstral coefficient delta features in KNN for bird calls classification
In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree Bachelor of Science in Electronics EngineeringIn ecosystems, avian species, especially apex predators such as the Philippine Eagle and Pinsker's Hawk Eagle, play a crucial role in regulating other species and fostering biodiversity. These bird species actively manage populations of smaller carnivores, thereby making significant contributions to the overall health and balance of the ecosystem. If these species disappear, there would be no suitable replacements, negatively impacting the
ecosystem. Protecting and monitoring birds and their habitats are crucial for ecosystems and human well-being. Therefore, the researchers developed an acoustic monitoring system for endangered Philippine raptors using a recorder and a computer program. In a rainforest environment, specifically at the Philippine Eagle Center, the researchers employed a portable, battery-powered recorder to capture bird calls continuously. Subsequently, a computer program was utilized to automatically filter, detect, and classify these calls. The
analysis results were exported into a spreadsheet for monitoring purposes. To predict bird species, delta features of Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC) and Gammatone Cepstral Coefficients (GTCC) were utilized as features. The Cosine k-nearest neighbors (KNN) algorithm was employed for classification, resulting in an overall accuracy performance of 97.42%. Specific accuracy rates for each bird species were also achieved:
Brahminy Kite (100.00%), Philippine Serpent Eagle (98.41%), Pinsker's Hawk Eagle (99.58%), Philippine Eagle (95.83%), and White-bellied Sea Eagle (91.86%)
Factors associated with illegal fishing in Davao City : basis for prevention program
Illegal fishing refers to the fishing practices that are not allowed by the laws and it affects the marine resources. Illegal fishing is one of the concerning issues in Davao City even though a fisheries law is already imposed. The main objective of this study is to determine the factors associated with illegal fishing in Davao City and to create a prevention program for illegal fishing in Davao City. Specifically, it aims to answer the following objectives: first, to assess the sociodemographic profile of every respondent in terms of Age, Gender, and Educational Attainment. second, to ascertain the level of factors associated with illegal fishing. And lastly, to determine the significant differences among age,
gender, and educational attainment in terms of factors associated with illegal fishing. The study utilized simple random sampling and there are 400 respondents from the three Barangays that are near coastal areas. The findings of the study revealed that the widespread illegal fishing activities in Davao City residents who live near coastal areas were influenced by these factors and these are resource depletion, limited livelihood options, global market demand, and weak enforcement and penalties. The researchers suggested that the local government, especially BFAR, should have an alternative income source for anglers to reduce their dependency on fishing. They also suggest that the Davao City Local Government must spread awareness about the negative effects of illegal fishing on the environment and economy, to promote public engagement through BFAR programs. In addition, criminology students should be educated more about environmental crimes and the importance of laws concerning illegal fishin
Koral Cove : a proposed development of an eco-resort and mangrove sanctuary through biomimicry architectural design, an application of a correlational study of the design quality and users' perspective of the coastal establishments in Barangay Matina Aplaya, Davao City
In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree Bachelor of Science in ArchitectureA degradation in the area's value as a travel destination and losses in social significance could severely impact the local economy over the long run if the quality of the coastal infrastructure deteriorates. Poor design can drastically impair a building's functionality and, in some cases, can significantly limit its usable lifespan. Participant and perception surveys have become widely used to evaluate the quality of beaches for recreational reasons. It is vital to comprehend how the general public views and responds
to effectively identify the areas of concern. Although people may have a variety of different and inconsistent points of view, it may be challenging to evaluate user perspectives in this case. Therefore, this research aims to investigate the relationship between the design quality and users' perspective of the coastal establishments in barangay Matina Aplaya, Davao City. This study used a quantitative approach to collect the necessary measurable data and information for this evaluation. It would utilize
