Deceptive advertisements and consumers' brand trust
In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of
Bachelor of Science in Business Administration
Major in Marketing ManagementDeceptive advertisements start when a firm or company supports its product or services with the help of misleading, untrue, or confusing statements. In today's competitive business environment, deceptive advertisements influence purchase decisions among customers. This study aims to understand the influence of deceptive advertisements on consumers’ brand trust, especially in the dietary supplement sector. The participants of this study were a hundred residents of Davao City who were selected using purposive sampling. The questionnaire used in the study was adapted and modified. A descriptive method was utilized to distribute questionnaires and collect and gather the data for this study. The statistical tools employed in treating the problem were mean and Chi-Square. It has been revealed in the study that fake claims have the highest mean among other indicators, which implies that consumers most likely believe that a fake claim is more compelling and has persuaded them to acquire dietary products and that fake claims have significantly impacted the number of deceptive advertisements and consumer brand trust. Spearman's rank correlation has been used to examine the impact of misleading advertising on customers' brand trust, which showed that the three indicators of deceptive advertisements, namely fake claims, deceptive prices, and puffery, have an enormous effect on customer trust in the brand. Based on the result, researchers recommended that businesses improve their products, be open to more ideas that will not compromise consumers and offer great value in terms of choice
Design of permeable asphalt mix (PAM) with cigarette butts (cellulose acetate) as additives
In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree Bachelor of Science in Civil EngineeringCigarette smoking is one of the most well-known tobacco products worldwide. A discarded cigarette butt is made primarily of cellulose acetate fibers, a type of microplastic that could be used in various construction materials such as asphalt. Using asphalt, most specifically permeable asphalt, is helpful in countries with high average rainfall because its key feature, along with the number of air voids, is its ability to let water pass through. This study proposes a design of a permeable asphalt mixture with optimum properties in terms of its stability, flow, and percent air voids. The collected cigarette butts underwent a thorough washing process wherein they were washed with five wt.% NaOH and one wt.% acid solution and dried. The extracted cellulose acetate with 0%, 2.5%, 5%, 7.5%, and 10% of the total weight of the mixture was added to the asphalt mix. A Marshal and flow test were conducted on each specimen, and the mixture with 2.5% exceeded the minimum requirements for stability, and every sample passed the required range for its flow. The bulkspecific gravity test shows that as cigarette butts increase, the bulk density decreases, which contradicts the increase in air void. Thus, considering the results of the tests, the researcher concluded that 2.5% of cigarette butts are the most desirable design for permeable asphalt mix

Effect of jackfruit starch as concrete admixture
In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of Bachelor of Science in Civil EngineeringThis research paper focuses on finding an environmentally friendly, cost-effective admixture that is also easily and abundantly available in the country. Admixtures are known for being the modifiers of the properties of concrete that can alter the results depending on the mix proportions. Starch admixture is a retarding admixture. This study examines the properties of concrete, such as compressive strength, workability, and time
setting, by adding jackfruit seed starch by weight of cement at 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, and 5%. Concrete's workability was tested through the slump test method before casting fifteen samples 8" long with 4" in diameter of concrete cylinders in every concrete mix batch. The compressive strength test was performed after 28 curing days. Vicat apparatus was also used to determine each percentage's initial and final setting time. The results showed that the workability of concrete decreases as the percentage of admixture increases due to
the starch's ability to thicken solutions. The results also showed that the 2% admixture obtained the highest mean compressive strength amongst all mixes, and at 2%, admixture started to decrease in compressive strength as the admixture increased. The time setting of cement is increasing with respect to every addition of the jackfruit starch. And in conclusion, the 2% admixture is the most effective among all concentrations due to being the smallest amount of admixture needed to have the highest concrete compressive strength and second highest for being a workable concrete that still has a great amount of time before the concrete will initially set
