Carbon sequestration of bryophytes in the University of Mindanao
In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of Bachelor of Science in Biology – EcologyCommon studies regarding Bryophytes in the Philippines were limited to annotated lists and identification. Carbon sequestration (CS) tests were commonly conducted in trees or medium-sized plants. Studies regarding the connection between bryophytes and carbon sequestration are still being adopted and developed in the Philippines. In this paper, the connection between bryophytes and carbon sequestration was tested most simply by providing carbon contents present in bryophytes and resulting in combustion. This study proves
the presence of carbon in bryophytes through FT-IR spectroscopy detecting two (2) functional carbon bonding groups under Alkanes, with C-H stretch vibration with 2920.23 frequency and CH3 bend with 1415.75 frequency. Moreover, alcohols with O-H H-bonded stretch were also detected with ~ 3200 – 3500.80 frequency range and C-O stretch with 1028.06 frequency. This study further proves the presence of carbon through the ashing process where carbon is lost in ignition. The result showed the ash percentage by combustion process leaving
12.43% in Plot 1, 8.46% in Plot 2, and 11.81% in Plot 3

The included respondents were 227 students using the Raosoft online sample calculator. The researchers utilized adapted and modified questionnaires. The statistical tools used in the study were Mean, Pearson Product-Moment Correlation. This result showed that there's a significant relationship between solid waste management practices and sustainability consciousness. This study also revealed that there is relationship between solid waste management and sustainability consciousness. The findings of the study showed that students are aware of solid waste management and most of them are aware of the policies and implementation of SWM. The study specifically aimed to look into the experiences of single mothers who are facing financial challenges during high-inflation economies, their coping mechanisms in facing their challenges, and insights they can share with other single mothers who are also experiencing financial problems. researchers utilized qualitative phenomenology to understand and describe the experiences of single mothers, how they cope and their insights. Researchers gathered the data through an in-depth interview carried out face-to-face. Thematic analysis was used to analyze data. Three themes emerged that described the experience of single mothers, namely: financial strain, physical challenges and time barrier. Also, three themes emerged that described how they cope with their challenges, namely, faith coping strategies, family support, and time management. An empowering mindset, managing expenses, and motivation were the single mothers' emerging themes for insights. Maslow's theory of needs proves that underclass single mothers barely meet the minimum demands that are necessary for survival due to the rising cost of living and inflation. This research would offer valuable insights applicable to other single mothers grappling with financial hardships in high-inflation economies.
