    Tourism at night : towards a better understanding of nightlife destinations

    In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree Bachelor of Science in Tourism ManagementThis study explores nightlife tourism in Davao City, Philippines, focusing on local tourists' experiences. Nightlife tourism significantly contributes to urban economies, yet there is limited research on how nightlife environments affect tourists in Davao City. Using a phenomenological qualitative approach, in-depth interviews with ten local tourists were conducted. Findings reveal that popular spots like Roxas Night Market and KTV bars are central to Davao's nightlife, with common challenges including transportation issues, security concerns, and lack of parking. Despite these challenges, tourists prioritize social interactions and entertainment to enhance their nightlife experience. The study recommends improving transportation, security, and infrastructure to boost tourist satisfaction and economic benefits

    Financial planning on small and micro enterprises of island Garden City of Samal

The research focuses on various elements of financial planning, such as company age, educational background of small and micro enterprises with the total respondents of 342 using simple random sampling method. The study employed a descriptive quantitative approach, using a survey questionnaire to collect data. The data collected were analyzed using appropriate statistical tools such as mean, T-Test and analysis of variance (ANOVA). The result showed that financial planning of small and micro enterprises described as very high. In terms of their gender the study revealed that there is significance of financial planning for women, where the female representation is higher than male. Based on the data presented in the analysis, it appears that small and micro enterprises, regardless of their company age, display similar levels and patterns of financial planning practices. The study also reveals that business owners with higher levels of education tend to have stronger financial planning capabilities compared to those with basic education. Further research is recommended to explore the applicability of financial planning strategies in other regions and to identify potential barriers to small and micro enterprises growth that may require targeted interventions

    The relationship of marketing strategy and sales performance of micro enterprises in Babak District

    This study aimed to explore the significant relationship between marketing strategy and sales performance of micro-enterprises in Babak, Island Garden City of Samal. the study employed a descriptive-correlational research design and surveyed 374 micro-enterprises in Babak District using a random sampling technique. Hence, mean, Person Product-moment, Correlation Coefficient (Reason R), and regression analysis were the statistics used in the study. The results revealed a high level of marketing strategy and sales performance of micro-enterprises in Babak IGACOS. Interestingly, the study found a significant relationship between marketing strategy and sales performance of micro-enterprises in Babak IGACOS. This suggests that when marketing strategy increases, micro-enterprises sales performance also increases. This approach recommends that marketing strategy be directly related to sales performance. This entails that the two variables are correlated positively with each other

    In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirement For the Degree of Bachelor in Hotel and Restaurant ManagementFood-borne illnesses are responsible for disease globally. One of the most important strategies for combatting food-borne diseases is the training of food handlers. With the growing popularity of food parks as social hubs, ensuring a safe and secure environment becomes imperative for sustained patronage. The level of food safety practices of Big Bang Park in Davao City was determined in terms of facilities, the environment around stalls, personal hygiene, and food safety. A quantitative research design was used in the study. The respondents are the 200 customers who visited the food park with a food stall of 87. The statistical tools are mean, and Pearson r correlation. Food Safety Practices and Return Intention to Big Bang Food Park were all rated high. It has been revealed in the study that there is no significant relationship between Food Safety Practices and Return Intention to Big Bang Park in Davao City. The researchers suggest guiding the Big Bang Food Park operators in adopting effective safety measures, thereby creating a secure and enjoyable environment that fosters positive experiences and encourages patrons to return. The implications of this study extend beyond food parks to various public spaces, emphasizing the importance of safety practices in shaping customer loyalty and satisfaction

    This study aims to determine the literacy level on climate change and environmental protection among NSTP students of UM Peñaplata College. The study employed a quantitative research design, implying that it primarily depends on numerical data and statistical analysis to derive significant insights. One hundred (100) respondents, determined using convenience sampling, participated in the survey. Pearson product-moment correlation and mean were used as statistical tools to assess the correlation between literacy on climate change and environmental protection and the levels of these two variables. The research adopted a questionnaire to gather the data. Findings show moderate knowledge regarding climate change and ecological protection, underscoring the need to improve students' understanding of environmental problems and their seriousness and consequences. The results affect students' attitudes toward environmental protection

    Awareness and attitude on environmental issues: A mixed method approach

    This study aims to answer seven questions; It seeks to determine the level of student’s environmental awareness among the BSED students’ of UMPC; (2) to determine the level of environmental attitude; (3) to determine the significant relationship between awareness and attitude on environmental issues; (4) to ascertain if what domains of awareness significantly influence attitude on environmental issues; (5) to find out if what activities/initiatives experience in schools that enhance the awareness and attitude on environmental issues; (6) to find out if what are the activities experience in school that diminish the awareness and attitude on environment. The researchers applied mixed-method design in this study. Data was collected from 162 students out of 278 through an online sample size calculator called Raosoft to determine the sample size of different programs. Further, we investigated the significant relationship between the students’ awareness and attitude on environmental issues among 1st to 4th year BSED students of all programs (English, Filipino, Math) at UMPC during the S.Y. 2023-2024. The level of awareness and attitude on environmental issues of students were found significantly high. Based on the statistics results, this implies that environmental awareness has an influence towards the environmental attitude, prompting the acceptance of the null hypothesis

    Humay! Oh my?: Unfolding income struggles in rice farming

    This study aims to know the income struggles of rice farmers specifically those rice farmers belong to the Municipality of Carmen. The participants were seven (7) rice field owners for in-depth interviews regardless of age and gender. This study used the phenomenological research approach to obtain relevant information into how rice field owners who were also the ones who work in their farm perceived their experiences in regard to income struggles. Furthermore, the study results show that rice field owners experienced struggles or challenges. The experiences faced by the rice field owners are the low profit due to insect, pest attack, and natural calamities, grief in farming due to weather, disappointment during harvest, higher maintenance in farming due to expensive fertilizers and chemicals, seeking financial assistance from loan. Hence, the rice farmers managed their income struggles through support from government, budget management, and being optimist. Insights generated by researchers are the importance of government, crucial role, and challenges of rice field owners. In addition, they are giving more importance to this livelihood as it is their only way to survive. Despite of any struggles, they still remain strong no matter how good or bad the outcome is. These findings may help the government and policy makers, rice field owners, consumers, and future researchers as a basis to provide solutions and recommendations on how to overcome the income struggles experienced by rice farmers

    Assessing the level of skills, knowledge, and preparedness in handling disasters of Catagman Elementary school

    The study aimed to determine the level of skills, knowledge, and preparedness of Catagman Elementary School students in handling disasters. A descriptive quantitative research design was utilized in this study; Mean, T-Test, and ANOVA were utilized as the study's statistical tools, and the sampling technique used is universal sampling. A total of sixty-six elementary students from grade 4,5 and 6 were selected as respondents to this study. The study's findings uncovered that the level of skills, knowledge, and preparedness in Catagman Elementary School is high, suggesting that the student's skills, knowledge, and preparedness in handling disasters are often manifested. In addition, the result revealed that the sense of action readily perceives the students in times of disaster. Furthermore, there is no significant difference in their gender and grade level in the students of Catagman Elementary School. Therefore, the students are skillful, knowledgeable, and prepared enough for such a disaster

    Effect of employee empowerment on job satisfaction in hotels

    In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of Bachelor of Science in Hospitality ManagementThis study aims to determine the effect of employee empowerment on job satisfaction in hotels in Davao city, female or male that ranges from 18 and above years old. The research tools that is used in the study are the mean, standard deviation, person r, annova, percentage, t-test and frequency count. As the variables significant, Employee Empowerment vs Job Satisfaction shows a strong significant relationship with a p-value of 0.000. Using the annova test there is an indirect effect between employee empowerment and job satisfaction. The results have showed that employee empowerment showed a effect to the job satisfaction which perceive a high result. The outcomes demonstrate a positive relationship among empowerment and job satisfaction, with empowered employees revealing more elevated levels of job satisfaction, inspiration, and dependability to their associations. These discoveries recommend that hotels can further develop employee maintenance and execution by embracing empowerment rehearses, at last adding to more readily support quality and functional proficiency. This examination highlights the significance of administrative techniques that elevate empowerment to encourage a more fulfilled and useful labor force in the hospitality area
