APPLICATION OF NEW TECHNOLOGIES TO ENHANCE THE STABILITY OF HIGH EMBANKMENT SLOPES
This study aims to investigate the stability problems of high road embankment slopes in the Republic of Moldova, revealing shortcomings of classical methods. The authors propose a solution by using the RG system, equipped with specialized vibration drilling equipment from "RTG RAMMTECHNIC Gmbh". The method provides for the creation of piles in deep boreholes using the vibrating d, filling the cavities with soil, with subsequent compaction of soil in stages. Experimental field and laboratory research has demonstrated the effectiveness of this method. The results showed significant improvements in soil properties: increased density, strength, and deformation characteristics. The proposed technology offers advantages such as: increased load-bearing capacity of the soil-pile massif, practically complete elimination of dynamic effects on the ground and structures located in close proximity to the construction site, reduced manual labor costs, and a decrease in the overall cost of the construction work. The study aimed the application of this method in Moldova's road construction, highlighting its potential to counteract slope deformations caused by the action of various factors of any nature. The authors suggest the need for further research for refine the methodology, assess economic feasibility, and perform stress-strain analysis using the Finite Element Method. The study was concluded by outlining plans for future research on embankment slopes stabilized by soil piles using the RG installation
STATISTICAL SIMULATION OF RELIABILITY OF NETWORKS WITH EXPONENTIALLY DISTRIBUTED UNIT LIFETIMES
In this paper, there were deduced three new lifetime distributions of serial-parallel and parallel-serial networks, their distribution being approached by means of analytical and Monte-Carlo methods. The novelty of the distribution consists in the fact that the number of subnets is random, governed by the Poisson and Logarithmic distributions, the lifetimes of the units in each subnet being independent, identically, exponentially distributed random variables, the number of units in each subnet is the same constant integer number. It was shown that the most important theoretical characteristics of lifetime for such networks, as the mean value, the variance, the survival/reliability function, my be approximated, with desired accuracy, by the same corresponding characteristics, as the sample mean value, sample variance, empirical survival/reliability function simulated by Monte-Carlo methods. Results are illustrated tabularly and graphically for some concrete examples
INTEGRATED REPORTING QUALITY DETERMINANTS: THE CASE OF BASIC MATERIALS AND INDUSTRIAL COMPANIES
This study investigates the determinants of integrated reporting quality in the context of basic materials and industrial companies. The motivation stems from the need to enhance reporting quality and provide guidance to companies and academia. Specific hypotheses were formulated, including the influence of profitability, company size, age, and board size on integrated reporting quality. The research aims to offer insights into these factors' impact. The study employs a mixed-method approach involving quantitative regression analysis and qualitative content analysis. Findings reveal that profitability is not a significant determinant of integrated reporting quality, while larger companies exhibit higher-quality reports. Younger firms tend to present more elaborate reports. The study validates the role of board size in enhancing reporting quality. These results contribute to refining integrated reporting standards, enhancing transparency, and guiding strategic decisions for sustainable development

The risks of contamination of raw materials and food products along the food chain with technogenic pollutants are analyzed in detail: food contamination caused by the environment, contamination caused by animal breeding and care, food contamination during processing, food contamination during transportation and contamination in the result of contact with food packaging
ASSESSING THE PROFITABILITY OF SMALL AND MEDIUM-SIZED WOOD FURNITURE BUSINESSES IN ETHIOPIA
This study focuses on the issue of profitability within the small and medium wood industries in Ethiopia. Profitability stands as a cornerstone for the advancement of contemporary industries and is a pressing concern for policymakers. The primary aim of this study is to determine the level of profitability and the factors influencing it in small and medium-scale wood enterprises. To conduct the study, four key cities - Addis Ababa, Bahir Dar, Hawassa, and Jima - were purposively selected. Data were gathered from 170 industries across these cities and subjected to analysis, yielding pertinent results. As expected, the wood industries in Ethiopia lacking profitability and among the 170 surveyed, 59.4% industries were not profitable. This is because majority of workers in Ethiopia's wood industry lack formal or on-the-job training both prior to and during employment. Moreover, the machinery and equipment they operate are outdated, and they lack the necessary skills for their proper utilization. Additionally, challenges such as insufficient raw materials, limited capital, and poor market connections were identified as significant obstacles to profitability. To tackle these challenges and bolster profitability, continuous technical and managerial training for workers, financial assistance for acquiring modern machinery, enhancements in production processes, sales strategies, and market linkage facilitation are recommended
GENDERED PERSPECTIVES IN SELECTED ZIMDANCEHALL BILINGUAL SONGS: AFRICANA WOMANISM
There is no study which is based on lyrics of songs about a sextape. Hence, the purpose of the study was to understand the gendered perspectives of four Zimbabwe singers towards explicit recording as reflected in the lyrics of their songs. Africana Womanism was deployed as a theory on the relationship between black males and females. The methodology was Critical Discourse Analysis in which purposefully selected artistes’ music lyrics were analysed. D Flexx’s song, “Hombe Yalevels”, “Ane hombe dzinotapira” (Ndunge Yut), “Tsamba kuna Levels” (Lorna Real Love) and Libronie’s “Ane hombe” which were released after the sextape scandal were examined in this study. From the findings, we argue that singers of the four songs failed Shashl as a woman and fellow musician by focusing on DJ Level’s perceived sexual prowess. Public figures ought to consult advisers, managers and veterans in their fields and government departments should partner stakeholders like businesses, brand experts and counsellors to explain the need for maintaining integrity
LAND REFORM POLICY FORMULATION IN SOUTH AFRICA AND ZIMBABWE: IMPLICATIONS FOR SOCIO-ECONOMIC AND POLITICAL DEVELOPMENT
Intense ideological and political standoffs persist over land and agrarian reform in former settler countries where land access, ownership, and utilisation wield enormous socio-economic and political implications. Focusing on South Africa (SA) and Zimbabwe, this article contributes to the ongoing debate on land reform. Drawing on qualitative secondary literature review and abstraction, this article identifies land reform policy evolution in SA and Zimbabwe and explores the implications of land reform policy on socio-economic and political development. The article shows that since colonial times, asymmetrical land access, ownership, utilisation, and widespread land expropriation by settlers have been the major source of political instability, landlessness, rural poverty, high population densities, and poor land management in SA and Zimbabwe. The article argues for the need for theoretically and conceptually mature land reform debates located within the broad framework of trajectories of transformation, not only economic but also structural
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF RURAL AREAS IN THE REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA THROUGH INCREASING THE EFFICIENCY OF THE LAND RESOURCE USE IN THE AGRICULTURAL SECTOR
The evaluation of the agricultural land in the Republic of Moldova represents the main factor in the sustainable rural space development and it emphasizes economic criteria for the efficiency of land resources. The hedonic price in the sales-purchase transactions of parcels in agricultural land may be the scientific innovation and originality of the geographically weighted regression methodology with the spatial approach in the used econometric model. The price of agricultural land used parcels in Maiovca village, Ocnița district were evaluated by using the data from transactions registered in 2022 and the results of the geographically weighted regression stands up the suitable conclusions of the licensed assessors in the field. The autocorrelation coefficient value evaluated by SAR is ρ = 0.072 according to Cobb Douglas model confirms the high quality of the regression techniques carried out and the used spatial methodology can be implemented in cadastral practice for the taxation in the agrarian sector. The geographically weighted regression utility proposed in this methodology has advantage in research area because of the similar evaluation techniques carried out in the countries of the European Union that are adjacent to the Republic of Moldova
ANALYSIS OF THE ESTABLISHMENT AND MAINTENANCE COSTS OF TABLE GRAPE PLANTATIONS ACCORDING TO THE PERGOLA SUPPORT SYSTEM
Evaluating the costs of establishment and maintenance of table grape plantations, grown through the Pergola management system, is a significant opportunity for winegrowers in the Republic of Moldova. This system, relatively new in the country, remains unadopted for many of the table grape producers. The present research highlights the methodological and technical aspects related to the costs associated with the cultivation of table grapes through the Pergola management system, which must be adapted to the specific climatic conditions of Moldova and to the current market requirements. The main objective of the research is to analyze the structure of costs that influence the yield of plantations in the long term, including the initial establishment expenses and the subsequent maintenance expenses. The author points out that although the maintenance costs of Pergola table grape plantations are high, the growing demand for quality grapes adds significant economic value to this vineyard management system. The research details the composition of the establishment and maintenance costs of table grape plantations, namely fertilization costs, irrigation costs, mechanized service costs. Concrete examples show what the structure of these costs is, thus demonstrating the importance of a correct assessment of costs in the process of establishing and maintaining table grape plantations
