    THE USE OF PHILOSOPHY IN ETHIOPIA: CULTIVATING IDENTITY FORMATION AND EMANCIPATORY IMPULSE

    Through a discussion of the historical trajectory within which modern philosophy in Ethiopia developed, the article situates the discussions of the spirit of cultural coexistence, the reflections on modernity, the process of state building, religion and modernity and the validity of indigenous traditions as the objects of analysis upon which social philosophizing in Ethiopia could take place within. Through such a discussion, it will be shown that the social function of philosophy in Ethiopia needs to be situated in the two-fold task of identity formation and the emergence of an emancipatory impulse. Concrete strategies for realizing such a function in terms of the development of curriculums, the cultivation of an interdisciplinary engagement between philosophy and other disciplines, community engagement, knowledge dissemination and the need to engage in an ethical and political reflection are identified

    The process of joining the European Union (EU) represents a complex and significant undertaking for the candidate countries, and the experience of this process can be influenced by a variety of socioeconomic, political and institutional factors. In the context of the Republic of Moldova, which has shown an increased interest in joining the EU, there is an opportunity to learn from the experience of other EU member states that have gone through the accession process in the past. These countries, which have already become EU members, or are candidate states, “have navigated” through similar stages of negotiation, implementation of reforms and adjustment to the standards and requirements of the European community. Their experiences provide a valuable source of information and perspectives for the Republic of Moldova in its own accession process. By analyzing the research and the problems encountered in the EU accession process in other member states, this article aims to identify learned lessons, anticipated challenges and the effective strategies that could be applied in the specific context of the Republic of Moldova

    POTENȚIALUL AGROECOLOGIC AL CLONELOR SOIULUI DE STRUGURI PENTRU VIN MALBEC

    The research reflected in this article aimed at studying the agroecological potential of clones of Malbec wine variety in the conditions of Mereni wine-growing center, Codru Region. Based on the study, it was found that the clones (595, 596, 598) of Malbec variety recorded different levels of significance of the analyzed characters, depending on the year and clone. The Clone 596 was the leader in terms of quantity and quality: maximum yield of 16.70 t/ha, maximum sugar content of 212.86 gr./dm3, minimum titratable acidity content of 8.5 gr./dm3. Based on the dispersion analysis data of the sugar content for the Clone 595, it was found that the value of DL-0.95 is 13.09 gr./dm3, DL-0.99 is 21.18 gr./dm3, DL-0.999 is 35.10 gr./dm3, for the Clone 596 - DL- 0,95 is 11,38 gr./dm3, DL-0,99 is 18,42 gr./dm3, DL-0,999 is 30,52 gr./dm3, for the Clone 598 - DL-0,95 is 18,21 gr./dm3, DL-0,99 is 29,45 gr./dm3, DL-0,999 is 48,79 gr./dm3. The correlation analysis data revealed significant interconnections between the amount of harvest and a) the sum of active temperatures (X1), the correlation coefficient ranging between 0.32-0.41; b) the amount of annual precipitation (X2), the correlation coefficient ranging between 0.29-0.55; c) the leaf surface (X3), the correlation coefficient ranging between 0.31-0.71, and d) the chlorophyll content index (X4), the correlation coefficient ranging between 0.17- 0.41. The correlation analysis showed the following correlation coefficients between the sugar content in berries and the analyzed factors: 0.38-0.49 (X1); -0.41 to 0.62 (X2 - negative correlation); 0.25-0.57 (X3); 0.12-0.29 (X4). Negative correlations were identified in all cases for the titratable acidity content in berries.   Cercetările reflectate în acest articol au avut ca scop studierea potențialului agroecologic al clonelor soiului de struguri pentru vin Malbec în condițiile plaiului vitivinicol Mereni, regiunea Codru. În baza studiului realizat s-a constatat că clonele soiului Malbec (595, 596, 598) au înregistrat diferit nivel de semnificație a caracterelor analizate, în funcție de an și de clonă. Clona 596 s-a manifestat lider sub aspectul cantitativ și calitativ și anume, recoltă maximă în mărime de 16,70 t/ha, conținut maxim de zahăr în mărime de 212,86 gr./dm3, conținut minim de aciditate titrabilă în mărime de 8,5 gr./ dm3. În baza datelor analizei de dispersie a conținutului de zahăr pentru clona 595, se constată că valoarea DL-0,95 este de 13,09 gr./dm3, DL-0,99 este de 21,18 gr./dm3, DL-0,999 este de 35,10 gr./dm3, pentru clona 596 – DL-0,95 este de 11,38 gr./dm3, DL-0,99 este de 18,42 gr./dm3, DL-0,999 este de 30,52 gr./dm3, pentru clona 598 – DL-0,95 este de 18,21 gr./ dm3, DL-0,99 este de 29,45 gr./dm3, DL-0,999 este de 48,79 gr./dm3. Rezultatele analizei de corelație denotă faptul că există legături strânse între cantitatea de recoltă și a) suma temperaturilor active (X1), coeficientul de corelație fiind în limitele 0,32-0,41; b) cantitatea precipitațiilor anuale (X2), coeficientul de corelație fiind în limitele 0,29-0,55; c) suprafața foliară (X3), coeficientul de corelație fiind în limitele 0,31-0,71, și d) indicele de conținut al clorofilei (X4), coeficientul de corelație fiind în limitele 0,17-0,41. Între conținutul de zahăr în boabe și factorii analizați s-au înregistrat următorii coeficienți de corelație: 0,38-0,49 (X1); -0,41...-0,62 (X2 - corelație negativă); 0,25-0,57 (X3) și 0,12-0,29 (X4). Pentru conținutul de aciditate titrabilă în boabe s-au identificat corelații negative în toate cazurile

    MODIFICAREA COMPOZIŢIEI CHIMICE ŞI A PROPRIETĂŢILOR LAPTELUI DE VACĂ PRIN AMESTEC DE LAPTE AL ALTOR SPECII DE ANIMALE DOMESTICE

    In the Republic of Moldova, cow milk serves as the main source of raw material for dairy production, resulting in a diverse range of dairy products through industrial processing. However, due to a shortage of raw materials in the dairy industry, particularly among small-scale producers, goat or ewe milk is often added to cow milk, especially in individual households. This study evaluates the organoleptic properties and physicochemical characteristics of whole cow milk and cow milk mixed with goat and sheep milk. The organoleptic characteristics of cow milk did not change when mixed with goat milk. However, mixing cow milk with sheep milk (30%) changed colour from yellowish-white to uniform-white, and the odour became specifically pronounced. Physico-chemical parameters underwent changes in both types of mixtures. The water content in cow milk decreased from 87.26% to 86.07% with increasing percentages of added goat milk, while mixing with sheep milk led to a decrease from 87.30% to 85.53%. Dry matter content increased by 1.19% and 1.76% respectively. Additionally, the fat, protein, lactose, and mineral salt content tended to increase compared to unmixed cow milk. Although such increases may appear beneficial, deviations from the specific chemical composition can impact the technological properties of cow milk, complicating its processing. În Republica Moldova sursa principală de lapte este reprezentată de laptele de vacă. El este materia primă de bază care este supusă procesării industriale şi din care se obţine o gamă largă de produse lactate de uz alimentar. Luând în consideraţie că industria lactatelor din Republica Moldova are un deficit de materie primă unii mici producători, mai cu seamă din gospodăriile individuale recurg la includerea în laptele de vacă a laptelui de capră sau a laptelui de oaie. În această lucrare s-au evaluat proprietățile organoleptice și indicii fizico-chimici ai laptelui de vacă integral și ai laptelui de vacă amestecat cu lapte de capră și lapte de oaie. Indicii оrgаnоlеptici аi lаptеlui dе vаcă nu аu sufеrit schimbări în cаzul fаlsificării prin аdаоs dе lаptе dе cаpră. Laptele de vacă amestecat cu lapte de oaie (30%) și-a schimbat culoarea din alb-gălbuie în albă uniformă și mirosul a devenit specific pronunțat. Indicii fizico-chimici au suferit modificări în ambele cazuri de falsificare. Cоnţinutul dе аpă în lаptеlе dе vаcă s-a redus de la 87.26% la 86.07% odаtă cu crеştеrеа cоtеi dе аdaos а lаptеlui dе cаpră, iar în cazul amestecului cu lapte de oaie – de la 87.30 % la 85.53%. Conținutul de substanță uscată s-a mărit cu 1,19% și 1.76%, respectiv. Conținutul de grăsime, proteină, lactoză și săruri minerale au avut de asemenea o tendință de majorare comparativ cu indicii laptelui de vacă neamestecat. Această majorare pare să fie benefică, dar abaterile de la compoziția chimică specifică afectează proprietățile tehnologice și complică procesul de prelucrare a laptelui de vacă

    FEEDING BEES IN THE SPRING PERIOD

    For the intensive development of beekeeping, the creation of new preparations is of particular importance, as they stimulate the growth of bee colonies and contribute to increased productivity. The research aims to assess the impact of the CobalRibo biostimulator (aqueous solution of hexamine cobalt (III) chloride and Rebaudioside A glycoside) on the growth of bee colonies, early developmental stages, and overall productivity. It has been determined that the optimal dose of the CobalRibo biostimulator for early spring bee feeding, in the absence of a maintenance nectar-pollen crop, is 3 ml/L of sugar syrup. Early spring bee feeding with a mixture of 50% sugar syrup and 3.0 ml/L of CobalRibo biostimulator, in a quantity of 1.0 L per bee colony, administered once every 6 days starting from April until the beginning of white acacia flowering, enhances queen prolificacy, promotes the growth of the number of capped brood, and increases honey yield. Pentru dezvoltarea intensivă a apiculturii, o deosebită importanță are elaborarea noilor preparate, care stimulează creșterea și contribuie la sporirea productivității albinelor. Scopul cercetărilor constă în evaluarea impactului biostimulatorului CobalRibo (soluție apoasă de clorură de hexamină de cobalt (III) și glicozida Rebaudioside A) asupra creșterii familiilor de albine, dezvoltării timpurii și productivității. S-a stabilit că doza optimă a biostimulatorului CobalRibo, administrat albinelor primăvară devreme în absența unei recolte nectaro-polenifere de întreținere, este de 3 ml/L sirop de zahăr. Alimentația albinelor cu un amestec de sirop de zahăr de 50% și cu 3,0 ml/L de biostimulator CobalRibo, în cantitate de 1,0 L per familie de albine, odată la 6 zile începând cu luna aprilie până la începutul înfloririi salcâmului alb, sporește prolificitatea mătcilor, favorizează creșterea numărului de puiet căpăcit și a producției de miere

    DESCRIEREA PATULUI VASCULAR ARTERIAL LA NIVELUL REGIUNII COXOFEMURALE LA CÂINE (CANIS FAMILIARIS)

    The present study describes the possible changes in the terminal branches of the abdominal aorta, their branching and distribution in the coxofemoral region in dogs, with determination of their origin. The arterial network was studied in 7 cadavers of dogs of different ages, breeds, sexes and constitution. The cadavers were taken from different clinics in mun. Chisinau, and the research was carried out in the specialized laboratory of morphology and morphopathology of the Technical University of Moldova, Department of Food Safety and Public Health. Analyzing the data of the investigation, it was found that the sources of vascular supply to the coxofemoral joint of the dog, from the vessels with the largest caliber to those with the smallest contribution, are branches of the lateral and medial circumflex femoral arteries, which originate from the femoral artery and the deep femoral artery, respectively, as well as branches of caudal and cranial gluteal arteries, which originate from the internal iliac artery. The results show that there are significant variations in the distribution of the terminal branches of the abdominal aorta and the origin of the arterial network in the coxofemoral region in dogs. Studiul descrie posibilele modificări ale ramurilor terminale ale aortei abdominale, ramificațiile și distribuția acestora la nivelul regiunii coxofemurale la câini, cu determinarea originii. A fost studiată rețeaua arterială a 7 cadavre de câini, de diferite vârste, rase, sex și constituție. Cadavrele au fost preluate din diferite clinici din municipiul Chișinău, cercetările fiind efectuate în cadrul laboratorului specializat de morfologie și morfopatologie din cadrul Universității Tehnice a Moldovei, Departamentul Siguranța Alimentelor și Sănătate Publică. Analizând datele investigației putem afirma că sursele de alimentare vasculară către articulația coxofemurală a câinelui, de la vasele cu cel mai mare calibru la cele cu cea mai mică contribuție, sunt ramuri ale arterelor circumflexe femurale laterală și medială, care își au originile din artera femurală și, respectiv, artera femurală profundă și, de asemenea, ramuri ale arterelor glutee caudală și cranială, care își au originile din artera iliacă internă. Rezultatele arată că există variații semnificative în ceea ce privește distribuția ramurilor terminale ale aortei abdominale și originea rețelei arteriale la nivelul regiunii coxofemurale la câini

    EVALUATION OF SEISMIC FORCES ACCORDING TO EUROCODE 8 AND SNiP II-7-81. COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS

    The evaluation of seismic forces is very important for the design of all types of structures. In the present, Republic of Moldova is in a period of transition in the construction industry from the national design norms to the European design norms. The comparison provides an interesting and imperative approach in design of structures. During the design process it is very important to be aware of all the forces acting on a structure, especially the accidental forces. This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of a concrete frame structure, subjected to seismic action. A calculation is performed according to the current national design code SNiP II-7-81 and according to Eurocode 8. The purpose of the paper is the quantitative comparison of the values of the seismic forces and the qualitative evaluation of the factors that influence these forces

    POSSIBILITIES OF OBTAINING AND VALORIZING DIETARY FIBERS IN THE CONTEXT OF THE CIRCULAR BIOECONOMY

    This article aimed to review the recent literature on the characterization of dietary fibers and their role in the human body, focusing on the methods of extraction of dietary fibers from agro-food waste as well as their use in various areas of the food industry. Dietary fibers are biologically active substances with beneficial effects on human health. Soluble dietary fiber is involved in reducing cholesterol levels and blood sugar levels, while insoluble dietary fiber helps regulate intestinal transit and maintain colon health. It would be useful to identify the extraction procedures and characterization of dietary fibers from agro-food waste. Fruit waste contains relevant amounts of bioactive compounds, such as: phenolic acids, flavonoids, lignins, carotenoids, etc. In addition, fruit waste contains significant amounts of dietary fiber with nutraceutical important activities, such as modulating the intestinal microbiota, lowering cholesterol, triglycerides and glycemic load in the blood. Hence, obtaining dietary fiber from agro-industrial waste can solve a number of economic and environmental problems that aim reducing waste, increasing the sustainability and profitability of companies in the Republic of Moldova. Dietary fiber can be used in various types of food, such as products of bakery and confectionery, meat, dairy products, and pasta. They can be used as stabilizers with an impact on food texture or ingredients with low caloric value, partially replacing caloric constituents such as fats, starch or sugars. Another important property is the prebiotic effect of dietary fibers. This property is determined by the fact that dietary fibers are indigestible or poorly digestible and are fermented selectively by intestinal microbiota, conferring health benefits to the host

    RETRIEVAL-AUGMENTED GENERATION USING DOMAIN-SPECIFIC TEXT: A PILOT STUDY

    The natural language processing (NLP) field has witnessed remarkable advancements with the advent of large language models (LLMs) like GPT, Gemini, Claude, etc. These models are trained on vast amounts of text data, allowing them to generate human-like responses for various tasks. However, despite their impressive capabilities, LLMs have limitations in their ability to incorporate and reason over external knowledge that is not in their training data. This limitation of LLMs is particularly evident in the case of specific domain knowledge. This situation has given rise to the concept of retrieval augmented generation (RAG), an approach that combines the generative power of LLMs with the ability to retrieve and integrate relevant information from external knowledge sources. This research attempts to use RAG as a module in an application designed to answer questions concerning a specific domain, namely social philosophy/philosophy of management, using a published book from the respective domain as an external source. The paper analyzes the mentioned application output, draws conclusions, and traces future directions to improve the accuracy of the output
