    No full text
The business environment of enterprises is a key field for development and reform in China\u27s economy in the new era. Improving the business environment is an important guarantee for the high-quality development of China\u27s economy. This paper divides the development index of urban business environment in the Yangtze River Delta region into five dimensions: public service, market environment, factor supply, innovation environment and ecological environment, 12 sub-indicators and 23 basic indicators. It employs the entropy method to measure the level of the business environment in the Yangtze River Delta region from 2010 to 2022 and utilizes the coupling coordination model to analyze the coupling coordination relationship of the business environment development level. The results show that: (1) The development level of the business environment in the Yangtze River Delta region exhibits a monotonically increasing trajectory with sustained high growth. The development level of each dimension exhibits a fluctuating upward trend. (2) The development level of the business environment in various cities within the Yangtze River Delta region is persistently uneven and diverging. (3) The level of coupling and coordination between the various dimensions of the business environment development in the Yangtze River Delta region and among different cities has improved marginally, yet the region remains in a state of nascent coordination. However, the gap between most cities tends to narrow, and development is becoming more balanced and stable

Aims: The study examined the production performance of smallholder upland and swamp rice farmers by gender in Ebonyi State, Nigeria. It aimed to describe the socio-economic characteristics of male and female farmers in relation to the technology gap and estimate their production functions across rice production ecologies. Study Design: A cross-sectional survey design was adopted, which integrated the use of descriptive statistics and econometric tools to analyze gender differences in production outcomes. Place and Duration of Study: The study was conducted in Ebonyi State, Nigeria, covering the North, Central, and South agricultural zones, from January to July 2025. Methodology: A multi-stage sampling technique was used in selecting 180 rice farmers, 72 upland and 108 swamp, stratified equally by gender. Primary data were gathered using structured questionnaires. Descriptive statistics were used for socio-economic profiling. The Cobb-Douglas production function estimated productivity levels, while the Chow test assessed gender-based structural differences. The Technology Gap Ratio (TGR) measures the extent of technology adoption. Results: The majority of farmers were married, with male swamp farmers recording the highest rate (77.8%). Female swamp farmers had the highest TGR (92.42%), suggesting greater technology adoption, especially among those in cooperatives (TGR = 115.01%). For male upland farmers, farm size, seeds, fertilizer, and agrochemicals significantly influenced output. Female upland farmers were affected by farm size, seeds, and fertilizer, while capital had a negative effect. In swamp systems, male output was influenced by seeds, labour, and capital, while female output depended on farm size and capital. Returns to scale were increasing for male and female upland (RTS = 2.605; 2.751) and male swamp farmers (1.441), but decreasing for female swamp farmers (0.523). The Chow test confirmed significant gender-based structural differences. Conclusion: Gender and production systems significantly influence productivity. Gender-responsive policies are needed to enhance women’s access to land, inputs, and extension support in swamp systems

    No full text
Purpose: This study explores how artificial intelligence (AI) can serve as a catalyst for enhancing financial literacy and indirectly reducing Non-Performing Assets (NPAs) across diverse populations. Financial literacy is essential for informed decision-making, yet many individuals lack the knowledge required to navigate complex financial landscapes, leading to poor credit practices and rising NPAs. AI technologies—such as chatbots, personalized learning platforms, and predictive analytics—offer innovative solutions to address these challenges. Methodology: The study employs secondary data analysis, reviewing existing literature, industry reports, and academic studies that evaluate the effectiveness of AI-driven tools in financial education. Case studies from organizations implementing AI-based financial literacy initiatives are analyzed to assess their outcomes. Findings: Results indicate that AI-enabled tools significantly improve financial literacy, leading to better decision-making, enhanced credit awareness, and improved repayment discipline, which in turn helps curb NPAs. Users reported stronger understanding of financial concepts, increased confidence in managing finances, and greater engagement with financial content. Implementation: AI can be integrated into financial services through chatbots for customer support, gamified financial education apps, predictive analytics for risk assessment, and robo-advisory services. Collaboration between financial institutions, educators, and policymakers is necessary for widespread adoption. Conclusion: Leveraging AI in finance enhances financial literacy, promotes responsible borrowing, and reduces NPA risks. Future research should explore scalability, long-term impacts, and the ethical considerations of AI adoption in financial literacy programs

The Impact of Official Development Assistance on Reducing Maternal Mortality Rate in Asian-Pacific Developing Countries

    No full text
The study explores the relationship between Official Development Assistance (ODA) and maternal mortality in 24 developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Despite significant progress in development in many high-income nations, developing countries still face persistent challenges, particularly in maternal health, with rising maternal mortality rates. This research aims to investigate the impact of ODA on reducing maternal mortality in these countries over a period spanning from 2000 to 2020. Utilizing panel data for 24 developing Asian-Pacific countries, the study adopts a quantitative and explanatory approach, employing purposive sampling based on the classification of countries as low-income or lower-middle-income. The analysis was conducted using STATA 18.0, with a focus on a fixed effects model, followed by the Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) to confirm the robustness of the results. Secondary data for the analysis were sourced from the World Bank (WB) and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). The findings of the study reveal a significant negative correlation between Net Official Development Assistance (NODA) and maternal mortality rates. Furthermore, factors such as HIV prevalence and access to sanitation services were found to influence maternal health outcomes. Specifically, higher HIV prevalence was linked to higher maternal mortality, while improved sanitation services contributed to a reduction in maternal deaths. Interestingly, the study found that GDP growth was positively correlated with maternal mortality, which suggests that economic growth alone may not be sufficient to reduce maternal deaths. This finding emphasizes the complexity of the relationship between economic development and health outcomes, highlighting that economic growth needs to be complemented by targeted interventions in healthcare, education, and sanitation. The study concludes that for long-term improvements in maternal health outcomes, effective aid management, institutional reforms, and robust monitoring systems are crucial. Policymakers in developing countries should recognize the interconnectedness of economic growth, education, healthcare infrastructure, and sanitation services when designing strategies to reduce maternal mortality. Moreover, international aid, particularly NODA, plays a vital role in improving maternal health outcomes in resource-constrained settings. Therefore, the study advocates for a comprehensive and coordinated approach that combines both domestic policy improvements and international support to achieve sustainable reductions in maternal mortality
