REVIVING OF ADAT BERSIRAM TRADITION AND ADAPTIVE REUSE OF MASJID LAMA KAMPUNG TANJUNG BERINGIN, SERI MENANTI, NEGERI SEMBILAN DARUL KHUSUS
Masjid Lama Kampung Tanjung Beringin was built in 1892 by Raja Melewar and the villagers. The mosque is left abandoned for many years without proper care, hence this building has present of defects and missing parts. Restoration an old building with different function has been applied a long time ago with the intention of reviving the building. There are many approaches to revive an old building, such as, adaptive reuse. The aim of this study is to revive the tradition that takes place at Masjid Lama Kampung Tanjung Beringin, Seri Menanti, Negeri Sembilan Darul Khusus through adaptive reuse. The objective of this project is to identify factors causing the functional deterioration of Masjid Lama Kampung Tanjung Beringin, to identify the significance of the mosque in order to revive its function, and to revive the function of the mosque through suitable approach. This study will discover the right process of adaptive reuse and a documentation on the fabric of the site as well as its previous functions asone of its significant value. Perhaps, this study will be beneficial to the people. Specifically, this study analyses eight methods have been used in analysing the site on its motifs, defects, functions, and the design of the mosque in order to fulfil the objective of the study. This study finds the intricate carvings in the mosque that might have related to the reign of Raja Melewar and also related to the adat bersiram tradition that takes place in the mosque. Lastly, this study suggest that adaptive reuse is the best conservation works in hopes it will bring back from the edge of death of this mosque
GAZİANTEP’S TRANSFER HUB DESIGN PROJECT INSPIRED BY THE INTRACELLULAR PROTEIN TRANSPORT SYSTEM
This article explores how to design a Transportation Transfer Hub inspired by Nature. The Transfer Hub in the study was designed to solve the transportationproblems of Gaziantep, one of Turkey’s major cities located on the historical silk road. The research was conducted to prepare the Gaziantep Spatial Strategy Plan. The literature review, document analysis, case study, in-depth interviews, focus group interviews and systematic observation methods were used. The research had shown that the biggest problem of Gaziantep is the unsustainable and non-integrated urban transportation system. Therefore, a transportation transfer hub to Gaziantep city centre was proposed in the strategic plan as the best move to solve the problem. The perspective of biomimicry theory was used in the study. In adopting the biomimicry perspective, the research work commenced with the following research questions: (i) What would Nature do if it encountered such a problem? (ii) How would Nature solve this problem? The intracellular protein transport system has inspired the Gaziantep Transportation Transfer Hub and contributed significantly to the urban design project. First, with Nature as an inspiration, an original design, unlike any other transportation transfer hub in the world, has emerged. Second, an organic urban design in harmony with Nature has also emerged. Third, ratio and proportion, size and standards are on the agenda of design. Thus, in the third dimension, an aesthetic physical environment with balanced occupancy and the void ratio has emerged. Fourth, technological solutions have entered the design agenda. Fifth, Gaziantep’s transportation problem has found a solution with an intriguing, interesting, innovative, and beneficial, sustainable method. The study has shown that many urban/rural problems can be solved using the biomimicry perspective. Mankind still has a lot to learn from Nature
SHARI’AH COMPLIANT HEALTHCARE CENTRE
Designing a building based on Shari’ah compliant practice is encouraged in Islamic Community. Hospitals are where people who get medicine or proper treatments sick. This institution or health care service where dealing with inpatient, outpatient and emergency cases. In Malaysia Department of Standardhas been appointed Standard and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM) as one body to develop, distribute, evaluate and certify standard in Malaysia. Under General Shari’ah based Quality Management System (MS 1900:2014). MS 1900: 2014 documents are specifically provide general guideline toward implementing a shari’ah management system.A Shari’ah compliant hospital is where the healthcare services rendered in the hospital are in accordance with the Islamic Teaching principle. The awareness for the need to practice Shari’ah Compliant in all aspect in Islam practicesare importance now day, wherethe beauty of Islam way of life and everyone can practice without bias to one races and community in all aspect in way of life in the world
FOSSEAL – A SEALER MECHANISM FOR FOOD WASTE MANAGEMENT
This research aims to identify the behavior of household towards food waste management in the home kitchen and to propose a better way of food waste management method by developing a product. A total of 32 person (24 female and 8 male) were selected for a survey study. Two instruments were developed to collect data; first instrument was photography to show the real situation of waste management in one kitchen and second instrument was a survey questionnaire. The findings indicated that most of the respondents aware of Waste Separate Programme and has tried to separate their home waste. This study also figured out behavior of household on their home food waste management. Most of respondents tie the plastic that contain rubbish before throwing it into the Green Bin provided by their authority. The user prefers using small waste bin with a lid to help to prevent from bad smell comes from the waste bin and from insects and other animals. FOSSEAL is a new eco-friendly product that has a potential to improve the waste management at home as well as in formal institution i.e. hospital, school and offices
