Keris or dagger is one of the Malay traditional weapons that represent various cultural symbols, such as pride and power. In Malaysia, one of the famouswoodcarvers for keris is Norhaiza Noordin, who had received recognition as Adiguru kraf (Master Craftsman). He has carved different forms of keris hilts, and with various motifs. The abstract motifs of flora, fauna and geometric patterns have become the central features for the hilt. This research aims to explore the sketches of hulu keris made by him in the past few years, which have been developed to get insights of the keris hilt’s forms. A total of 14 sketches of the hilts were analysed. The methodology is to identify their visual attributes, such as types of motifs and forms of carving. The results show that motifs of leaves and flowers are the prevailing features that dominate the hilt designs

This research described an innovative urban design project of Gaziantep province. The research brings out a creative nature-oriented solution approachto combat issues of air pollution experienced in major cities worldwide. A Spatial Strategy Plan prepared for Gaziantep city includes a sub-regions wherethe critical parts of the urban design process are elaborated. The crucial point that distinguishes the work from other urban design-related research is that thefundamental principles of the project were inspired by nature - lotus flower (water lily), dragonfly, beetle, butterfly (butterfly effect) and the Yin Yangphilosophy. The creation of the main theme and the setup process of the urban design project is carried out in several stages inspired by Nature. The hypothesis of the research using Nature as inspiration is to provide an alternative approach to resolve the problem of air pollution found in dense citiesthrough macro and micro level of control in planning and urban design. The research had successfully identified nature inspired solution to the problemthrough literature review, observation and 3D simulation. The success of this project will inspire more researchers working in the field of urban design tohave more research inspired from nature for a successful outcome

Malacca is well known for its richness in history, culture and tradition as the earliest states occupied by the Portuguese, Dutch and the British Colonialpowers and currently acknowledged as UNESCO world heritage site for Historic Cities of Straits of Malacca. However, midway between Melaka City and Port Dickson lies a few other historic Malay traditional houses, Pagar Ruyung Sultanate throne, a Dutch Fort built to control all ships movements on Linggi River and Rembau River. These buildings were gazetted individually as historical monuments under the Antiques Act of 1976. Due to urbanisation, a few remaining traditional villages like Kampung Kuala Linggi faced degradation. Kampung Linggi is known for its rustic ambience portraying the richness of Malay historical legacy, culture, environment and lifestyle of the Malay communities of Malaysia. The village is well known among filmmakers as the spot for shooting of Malay dramas, movies and music videos but not to tourists or younger generation. This research project proposed to prolong the remembrance of Kampung Kuala Linggi by implementing an inclusive and sustainable design strategy that promotes the beauty of Kampung Kuala Linggi as a platform for filmscape tourism spots
