LIPAT - A COMPACT BEDROOM FURNITURE FOR TENANTS IN MALAYSIA
Get PDFAmong the challenges faced by renting tenants in Malaysia is having to move heavy furniture at the end of the rental period, from one house to another. Easy-to-handle furniture is needed in the assembling and reassembling activity during the moving in and out of the house. This research aims to develop compact bedroom furniture for tenants in Malaysia. There are two (2) main objectives for this study which are; 1) to identify the existing design elements of bedroom furniture and 2) to determine the user design preferences for compact bedroom furniture. Two (2) data collection methods were used: a line-up study and a survey questionnaire. From the analysis, it is found that portable concept furniture can help to ease the issue faced by the tenant during their moving in and out. A simple mechanism such as slotting and folding a minimalist style of nomad furniture is most appropriate. Wood is widely used for many compact furniture because of its durability and portability concept. The furniture needs to comply with the Malaysian population's anthropometric data and should also be affordable. More studies and ideas for nomad furniture are required not only for commercialisation but also for ease of people's lifestyle.

Get PDFThe preparation of a District Local Plan is in accordance with the Local Plan manual as stated in the Plan Malaysia 2020 Edition. This paper highlights findings, issues, proposals, and design of the Kuala Selangor District Local Plan. The main objective of this project is to prepare a draft local plan for the Kuala Selangor district to uplift the social, economic, infrastructure and environment components of the district. Some of the major findings of this project were lack of housing supply, lack of infrastructure and public facilities for growing population, severe traffic congestion at and near the major town center and greater potential for tourism development. The proposals in this paper depicts the development concept, strategies, high-impact projects, implementation plan, and cost estimation of each major projects. This paper includes 5 development thrusts, 16 strategies, and 12 high impact projects

This planning document outlines the district's overall strategies, policies, and general proposals. Changes in policies at the districtlevel are also examined to ensure that they are consistent with policies at the state and national levels. The District Local Plan is being prepared in compliance with PLAN Malaysia's manual. The objective of this paper is to review the District Local Plan of Kuala Selangor to formulate applicable policies, strategies, and proposals by the year 2035. The revision of the Kuala Selangor District Local Plan 2035 includes 5 development thrusts, 21 strategies, and 71 proposals, 9 of which are high-impact projects
COMMUNAL LANDSCAPE DESIGN: IMPLEMENTATION AT LOW-COST FLAT IN SELAYANG, SELANGOR
Get PDFThis paper presents the process of implementing a communal landscape design project for a low-cost flat in Selangor. The project aimed to rejuvenate the existing communal area into a unique outdoor landscape space that is vibrant in use, comfortable and beautiful. There are five main phases in the process of implementing the project: (1) planning and site selection, (2) site inventory and analysis, (3) design proposal, (4) presentation of project to the client and the residents’ management body (JMB), and (5) implementation of the project on-site. The project involved the cooperation of various groups, including the client, local authority, the students from the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture programme and ARCLA Society, the academic staff of IIUM, and Selayang Mulia flat residents at Batu Caves. As part of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) to encourage academic staff and students to be engaged in a community project, this communal landscape project has promoted a sense of place to the residents
HIGH IMPACT PROJECTS OF STATE STRUCTURE PLAN OF NEGERI SEMBILAN2045– TOWARDS BALANCED AND SUSTAINED ECONOMIC GROWTH

State structure plan sets the framework for the spatial planning and development to be translated in more detail in the next stage of development planning which is local plan. The review encompasses the goal, policies, thrusts and proposals to lead the development of Negeri Sembilan for the next 25 years. This review also highlights 9 high-impact projects proposed to be developed in Negeri Sembilan at the state level by 2045 through 30 policies and 107 strategies. 
COMPATIBILITIES OF ANTHROPOMETRIC MEASUREMENT ON CHAIRS AND STUDY TABLES FOR PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN MALAYSIA
Get PDFThe study's aim is to improve the compatibility of chairs and study tables use by primary school students. This study emphasises the planning and development of chairs and study tables' design that are appropriate with the anthropometric (size and shape of the physical size) of the student's body and to produce guidelines for the design of chairs. Thus, the corresponding study on the design of chairs and study tables was conducted by analysing the furniture size, body size, and student's posture using anthropometric methods. International standards were used as a reference to analyse the measurement. It is found that male and female students have different sizes and postures while using the table and chair. The assessment on the application of ergonomics in primary schools in the city and rural areas was to uncover the differences anthropometric of study chairs and table and level of exposure andawareness of teachers, parents, and manufacturers on the importance of ergonomics to the students due to back pain trauma and MSD – Musculoskeletal Disorder. This research examines the compatibility problems in the design of chairs and study tables for primary school students in two states in Malaysia, Penang and Selangor. The study was conducted using the anthropometric method in design chairs and study tables in conformance with the student's anatomy. The study's outcome highlighted the problems and risksidentified through the study, related to the incompatibility between the size of a chair and study table and the students' body size according to the levels
MARINE REHABILITATION AND RESEARCH CENTRE AT PERHENTIAN KECIL ISLAND, TERENGGANU
Get PDFTourism is one of the biggest industries in Malaysia. Malaysia Marine Park Islands are among the main contributors to the tourism industry, one of Malaysia's biggest industries. Perhentian Island, famous for its coral reef beauty, has unfortunately deteriorated over the past years due to climate change and irresponsible tourism activities. Therefore, this study aim is to design a comprehensive rehabilitation coral reef centre at Perhentian Island. The centre aims to rehabilitate the damaged corals, provide appropriateresearch facilities, and increase awareness and education about coral reefs for tourists visiting Perhentian Island. The study was conducted at the Perhentian Kecil Island in Terengganu. The centre is proposed to be located at the sea, 50 km from the island shore. This study had adopted a qualitative method. With several site analyses, indepth interviews, case studies and observations, the findings identified several appropriate spaces for rehabilitation, research and education purposes.
