    CHARACTERISATION AND PRODUCTION OF POLY (LACTIC ACID)/POLY(ETHYLENE GLYCOL) MICROFIBER VIA MELT DRAWN SPINNING PROCESS

    In this study, melt blended compositions of pure PLA with additions of polyethylene glycol (PEG) up to 30 wt% were prepared. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) were used to investigate the properties of PLA/PEG blends, such as structural, thermal, and morphological properties. The results showed that further increments of PEG cause the -OH group of PLA/PEG blends to show a broad peak, indicating that there is hydrogen bonding interaction between PEG and PLA chains. DSC result revealed that the addition of PEG decreases the glass transition temperature from 57 °C to 46 °C and crystallization temperature from 107 °C to 87 °C. Such trends suggest enhanced chain mobility of PLA chains. TGA thermograms showed that further additions of PEG into PLA resulted in a consistent shift to lower temperature and decrease in thermal stability. Optical microscopy (OM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) observations of the melt spun PLA/PEG microfibers revealed that the diameter of the microfibers averaged between 15 to 80 microns. ABSTRAK: Kajian ini menganalisa komposisi adunan lebur PLA asli bersama tambahan polietilena glikol (PEG) sebanyak 30%. Penjelmaan Fourier spektroskopi inframerah (FTIR), kalorimeter pengimbasan pembezaan (DSC) dan analisis termogravimetri (TGA) telah digunakan bagi mengkaji sifat-sifat adunan PLA/PEG, seperti struktur, terma dan sifat-sifat morfologi. Keputusan menunjukkan penambahan PEG seterusnya menyebabkan kumpulan -OH campuran PLA/PEG memberikan puncak yang lebar, ini menunjukkan ada interaksi ikatan hidrogen antara rantaian PEG dan PLA. Keputusan DSC menunjukkan penambahan PEG mengurangkan perubahan gelas dari 57 °C kepada 46 °C dan suhu kristalisasi dari 107 °C kepada 87 °C. Trend ini mencadangkan peningkatan pergerakan rangkaian pada rantaian PLA. Termogram TGA menunjukkan dengan penambahan berterusan PEG ke dalam PLA menghasilkan penurunan konsisten pada suhu dan pengurangan kestabilan haba.     SOLUTION OF THE REVERSE FLOW REACTOR MODEL USING HOMOTOPY ANALYSIS METHOD

    Methane (CH4) is one of the most dangerous greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. A reverse flow reactor is utilized to convert CH4 to carbon dioxide (CO2) as a means of reducing the effect of global warming. The dynamics of its dependent variables can be stated by a set of convective-diffusion equations. In this article, we examined analytical solutions of temperature dynamics and methane conversion for a 1-D pseudo homogeneous model without refrigeration by using the homotopy analysis method. The results show that temperature and conversion of methane will go to constant when time goes to infinity. ABSTRAK: Metana (CH4) merupakan salah satu gas rumah hijau paling berbahaya di atmosfera.     RELIABLE ITERATIVE METHODS FOR SOLVING 1D, 2D AND 3D FISHER’S EQUATION

    In the present paper, three reliable iterative methods are given and implemented to solve the 1D, 2D and 3D Fisher’s equation. Daftardar-Jafari method (DJM), Temimi-Ansari method (TAM) and Banach contraction method (BCM) are applied to get the exact and numerical solutions for Fisher's equations. The reliable iterative methods are characterized by many advantages, such as being free of derivatives, overcoming the difficulty arising when calculating the Adomian polynomial boundaries to deal with nonlinear terms in the Adomian decomposition method (ADM), does not request to calculate Lagrange multiplier as in the Variational iteration method (VIM) and there is no need to create a homotopy like in the Homotopy perturbation method (HPM), or any assumptions to deal with the nonlinear term. The obtained solutions are in recursive sequence forms which can be used to achieve the closed or approximate form of the solutions. Also, the fixed point theorem was presented to assess the convergence of the proposed methods. Several examples of 1D, 2D and 3D problems are solved either analytically or numerically, where the efficiency of the numerical solution has been verified by evaluating the absolute error and the maximum error remainder to show the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed methods. The results reveal that the proposed iterative methods are effective, reliable, time saver and applicable for solving the problems and can be proposed to solve other nonlinear problems. All the iterative process in this work implemented in MATHEMATICA®12. ABSTRAK: Kajian ini berkenaan tiga kaedah berulang boleh percaya diberikan dan dilaksanakan bagi menyelesaikan 1D, 2D dan 3D persamaan Fisher. Kaedah Daftardar-Jafari (DJM), kaedah Temimi-Ansari (TAM) dan kaedah pengecutan Banach (BCM) digunakan bagi mendapatkan penyelesaian numerik dan tepat bagi persamaan Fisher. Kaedah berulang boleh percaya di kategorikan dengan pelbagai faedah, seperti bebas daripada terbitan, mengatasi masalah-masalah yang timbul apabila sempadan polinomial bagi mengurus kata tak linear dalam kaedah penguraian Adomian (ADM), tidak memerlukan kiraan pekali Lagrange sebagai kaedah berulang Variasi (VIM) dan tidak perlu bagi membuat homotopi sebagaimana dalam kaedah gangguan Homotopi (HPM), atau mana-mana anggapan bagi mengurus kata tak linear. Penyelesaian yang didapati dalam bentuk urutan berulang di mana ianya boleh digunakan bagi mencapai penyelesaian tepat atau hampiran. Juga, teorem titik tetap dibentangkan bagi menaksir kaedah bentuk hampiran. Pelbagai contoh seperti masalah 1D, 2D dan 3D diselesaikan samada secara analitik atau numerik, di mana kecekapan penyelesaian numerik telah ditentu sahkan dengan menilai ralat mutlak dan baki ralat maksimum (MER) bagi menentukan ketepatan dan kecekapan kaedah yang dicadangkan. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan kaedah berulang yang dicadangkan adalah berkesan, boleh percaya, jimat masa dan boleh guna bagi menyelesaikan masalah dan boleh dicadangkan menyelesaikan masalah tak linear lain.     PREPARATION OF THE ELECTROSPUN POLYVINYLIDENE FLUORIDE / POLYVINYL ALCOHOL SCAFFOLD AS A POTENTIAL TISSUE REPLACEMENT

    :  Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), a piezoelectric material, is commonly used in tissue engineering due to its potential for mimicking the electrical microenvironment of biological conditions for tissue development. In this present research, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) was introduced into electrospun PVDF fabrication through an electrospinning process, aiming to enhance the nanofibrous membrane's biocompatibility properties by improving the hydrophilicity properties to act as an artificial tissue scaffold. The electrospun PVDF/PVA membranes are found to be optimum at a PVDF-to-PVA ratio of 90:10 due to its excellent mechanical, morphological, and hydrophilicity conductivity properties. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy verified strong hydrogen bonding interaction formed between the fluorine group of PVDF with oxygen-containing in the hydroxyl group of PVA. In-vitro cell culture showed that the enhanced hydrophilic property of electrospun PVDF/PVA could significantly enhance the cell growth. These positive results indicated that the scaffold could be implemented as artificial tissue material for tissue engineering applications. ABSTRAK: Polivinilidena fluorida (PVDF) adalah bahan piezoelektrik yang biasa digunakan dalam kejuruteraan tisu kerana potensinya menyerupai keadaan persekitaran mikro-elektrik biologi bagi perkembangan tisu. Dalam penyelidikan ini, polivinil alkohol (PVA) diperkenalkan ke dalam fabrikasi pintalan-elektro PVDF melalui proses pemintalan-elektro, yang bertujuan bagi mengembangkan sifat biokompatibiliti membran nanogentian dengan meningkatkan sifat hidrofilik bagi menjadi perancah tisu tiruan. Membran pintalan-elektro PVDF / PVA didapati optimum pada nisbah PVDF-ke-PVA, 90:10 kerana sifat kekonduksian, mekanikal, morfologi dan hidrofiliknya yang sangat baik. Spektroskopi transformasi inframerah Fourier (FTIR) mengesahkan interaksi ikatan hidrogen yang kuat terbentuk antara kumpulan fluoro PVDF dengan oksigen yang terkandung dalam kumpulan hidroksil PVA. Kultur sel secara in-vitro menunjukkan bahawa sifat hidrofilik pintalan-elektro PVDF / PVA dapat meningkatkan pertumbuhan sel secara signifikan.     PAVEMENT CONDITION ANALYSIS VIA VEHICLE MOUNTED ACCELEROMETER DATA

    Road anomalies and irregularities such as potholes and uneven surfaces are a common hazard in South East Asia and developing countries. Such hazards pose a threat to the safety and well-being of both civilians going about their daily routine and tourists who are exploring the city. Since bicycles and rickshaws are still a common mode of transport used by both civilians and tourists in many South East Asian countries, it is essential to improve the overall quality and smoothness of pavements which are traversed by these vehicles. Management of international sporting and recreational events also require satisfactory road and pavement conditions. Before pavement conditions can be improved, it is an essential prerequisite to obtain comprehensive information about road irregularities such as the location and also severity of the road irregularity (depth of the potholes and height of bumps). In this paper, we propose a method for obtaining mathematical models that represent the overall condition of the pavements that are part of a commonly traversed cycling route. Such mathematical models and coefficients can be stored in the cloud of an Internet of Things (IOT) data analytics systems subsequently leading to identification of regions with severe road irregularities. ABSTRAK:  Kerosakan pada permukaan jalan raya merupakan salah satu faktor risiko kemalangan yang berlaku secara meluas di negara Asia Tenggara dan negara membangun yang lain. Memandangkan kenderaan seperti beca dan basikal masih diguna pakai secara meluas di negara membangun, adalah mustahak untuk membaik pulih kerosakan jalan raya. Pengurusan sukan antarabangsa dan rekreasi juga memerlukan keadaan jalan dan laluan pejalan kaki yang baik. Sebelum kerja membaik pulih dapat dilakukan, maklumat lengkap mengenai tahap kerosakan jalan raya dan lokasi kerosakan diperlukan. Dalam kajian ini satu kaedah telah diperkenalkan untuk mendapatkan persamaan matematik yang menggambarkan keadaan sebenar permukaan jalan raya, di mana sebahagiannya merupakan laluan berbasikal yang selalu digunakan.     PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF 5G PATH LOSS MODELS FOR RURAL MACROCELL ENVIRONMENT

    5G networks are expected to use the Millimeter Wave (mmWave) frequency band and this frequency provides wider bandwidth allowing a better quality of service to be offered to the users. However, the mmWave frequencies may lead to a higher path loss due to several factors including blockages,rain and atmosphere. Therefore, to allow optimal positioning of the 5G base stations, the study of path loss model in this 5G mmWave frequencies is crucial. This paper investigates the 5G path loss models as well as their parameters that are most suitable for cross-polarized antennas under rural macrocell environment in Malaysia. Path loss models namely Close In Free Space Reference Distance Path Loss Model (CI) model, and Alpha Beta Gamma (ABG) or Floating Intercept (FI) Model along with their parameters achieved from the previous studies were evaluated by comparing the parameters and models that are closest to the sampled path loss when using antennas that have different patterns and polarizations in an open-source simulator. Results obtained indicate that FI model can be adapted to the majority of the environment where this model showed the lowest Root Mean Square Error (RMSE). The study of path loss models by using advanced simulator or field measurement, and studies on other rural areas from other states in Malaysia will be considered in future works

    IMPROVE THE EFFICIENCY OF THE POWER TRANSMISSION SYSTEM USING THE GENETIC ALGORITHM TO DETERMINE THE OPTIMUM LOCATION AND FACTS DEVICES

     As the world's energy consumption increases, the expansion of the energy system becomes increasingly important. However, the creation of new transmission lines requires excessive costs and time if the same transmission capacity is to be added to the existing network. Today's electrical networks are faced with high risks of voltage instability and real power losses. This development tends to occur due to the lack of reactive control power (RPL) in heavily stressed operating conditions caused by increased demand for loads and the rapid development of power systems worldwide. This paper has adopted the setting of FACTS (flexible AC transmission system) devices as additional control parameters for reducing transmission losses in power system static types of two FACTS devices consisting of SVC (static VAR compensators) while the TCSC (thermistor controlled series compensator) is included in the issue formulation. During this paper, the proposed algorithm was to determine the optimal placement of power network devices by genetic algorithm to manage reactive power, reduce losses, increase the transmission capacity and power lines, and help simulate the IEEE 24 bus control system and also the position of FACTS devices. ABSTRAK: Apabila penggunaan tenaga dunia semakin meningkat, penambahan sistem tenaga sangat penting. Walau bagaimanapun, penciptaan talian penghantaran terkini memerlukan kos yang berlebihan dan had masa jika kapasiti penghantaran yang sama digunakan dengan lebih tinggi. Dalam rangkaian elektrik hari ini, unit ini berhadapan dengan risiko ketidakstabilan voltan dan putus bekalan tenaga. Penambahan sistem tenaga ini cenderung berlaku disebabkan kekurangan kuasa kawalan reaktif (RPL) dalam keadaan beban operasi yang besar disebabkan oleh peningkatan beban permintaan dan perkembangan pesat sistem kuasa di seluruh dunia. Kertas ini telah mengguna pakai peranti FACTS (sistem penghantaran AC fleksibel) sebagai parameter kawalan tambahan bagi mengurangkan kehilangan penghantaran dalam sistem kuasa statik dua peranti FACTS yang terdiri daripada SVC (pemampas VAR statik) manakala TCSC (pemampas siri termistor kawalan) adalah termasuk dalam perumusan isu.     Expanding strains over Indian borders with illegal crossings and examining past assaults on the nation, it is clear that in a large portion of the cases, security powers are uninformed of the movement of these interlopers. For this reason, a framework is needed to manage the border issue that would be equipped for working in sloping landscapes where there is no power. This paper manages identification and situating of interlopers crossing the border utilizing PIR sensors and cameras. In the event of any undesirable crossing in the area, the sensor quickly detects it and the camera will stream pictures to the base station (BS). Relying upon the guidance originating from the BS, the sensor will either activate the camera for further streaming or turn it off. The objective of this paper is to give a framework that will help the Border Security Force (BSF) in controlling all sorts of illicit activities near the outskirt in a superior and precise manner. ABSTRAK: Merentas isu sempadan India dengan kegiatan pencerobohan sempadan dan dengan mengambil kira kutukan lepas terhadap bangsa kami, adalah jelas dalam banyak-banyak kes ini pegawai keselamatan tidak diberitahu tentang bahagian yang dicerobohi. Dalam keadaan ini, kita memerlukan rangka kerja bagi mengurus masalah sempadan di mana kelengkapan perlu dipasang di tebing landskap yang tidak mempunyai sumber tenaga. Kajian ini mengurus identiti pengenalan dan kedudukan kegiatan haram yang berleluasa di sempadan dengan mengguna pakai pengesan PIR dan kamera. Apabila terdapat perubahan pergerakan yang tidak diingini di sempadan, PIR akan mengesan pergerakan dengan cepat dan kamera akan menggaris arus gambar-gambar ke stesen utama (BS) dan bergantung kepada panduan pengkalan di BS, pengesan akan membuat kamera lebih bergaris arus atau berhenti merekod.     INFLUENCE OF FIBREGLASS MESH ON PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF LIGHTWEIGHT FOAMCRETE

    This research project was designed to investigate the influence of fibremesh on the durability properties of lightweight foamcrete (LFC). The fibremesh, categorized as a synthetic fibre (man-made fibre), was used for this study. It poses a continuous fibre with warp and weft structure that was used as confinement material in this investigation where four different weights per area (g/m2) of the fibremesh were observed namely, 110 g, 130 g, 145 g, and 160 g. Three experimental tests were involved in this preliminary study: porosity, water absorption, and drying shrinkage test. All the specimens were confined with 1-layer fibremesh at a constant density of 1100kg/m3 of LFC and the result was compared with the control (unconfined LFC). The 160 g/m2 of fibremesh significantly improved the physical properties of LFC where 13.8%, 20%, and 57.4% enhancement was obtained for the porosity, water absorption, and drying shrinkage result, respectively. ABSTRAK: Projek penyelidikan ini dijalankan bagi menyiasat kesan pengunaan jejaring sabut pada sifat ketahanan konkrit ringan berbusa (LFC). Jejaring sabut yang digunakan dalam kajian ini adalah jejaring gentian kaca tahan-alkali yang dikategorikan sebagai serat sintetik yang juga dikenali sebagai fabrik tekstil. Ia mempunyai serat yang panjang dan bersambung dengan struktur yang lekuk dan renda yang digunakan sebagai penambahbaikan bagi konkrit ringan berbusa. Terdapat empat berat jejaring sabut yang diuji iaitu 110 g, 130 g, 145 g, dan 160 g. Tiga jenis eksperimen bagi kajian awal ini iaitu keliangan, penyerapan air, dan pengecutan pengeringan. Semua spesimen dibalut dengan 1 lapisan jejaring sabut pada 1100kg/m3 LFC dan data yang diperoleh dibandingkan dengan spesimen yang tidak dibalut dengan gentian kaca berjejaring. Jejaring sabut 160 g/m2 meningkatkan sifat fizikal konkrit ringan berbusa di mana 13.8%, 20%, dan 57.4% peningkatan diperoleh bagi keliangan, penyerapan air, dan pengecutan pengeringan, masing-masing

    FORMALIZATION OF THE COTTON DRYING PROCESS BASED ON HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER EQUATIONS

    The paper deals with the construction of a mathematical model of the cotton drying process, taking into account the thermal and mass transfer properties of raw cotton components. To determine changes in the temperature of the fibre and raw cotton seeds, the application of Fourier's law is proposed. The mathematical dependence of the change on the humidity of the cotton fibre and seeds along the length of the drum is determined. The rational value of the heat agent consumption in the process of drying raw cotton is also determined. Research methods are based on the provisions of modern trends in management theory and identification. Mathematical models are constructed using analytical methods and equations that describe the physical properties of an object. Methods for constructing a mathematical model usually rely on experimental methods, in particular, the method of acceleration curves, and as a result, the mathematical description becomes a priori inaccurate. It is shown that the mathematical model used is quite adequate for the dynamics of a real object, fully describes it, and characterizes it over the entire range of changes. The analysis of the developed mathematical model based on simulation showed the adequacy of the obtained mathematical dependence of the temperature regime of the cotton drying process with the consumption of heat agent. ABSTRAK: Kajian ini membincangkan tentang penciptaan model matematik bagi proses pengeringan kapas, dengan mengambil kira terma dan sifat-sifat pindah jisim komponen kapas mentah. Bagi mendapatkan perubahan suhu fabrik dan biji benih kapas mentah, penggunaan hukum Fourier telah dicadangkan. Kebergantungan matematik pada perubahan kelembapan fabrik kapas dan biji benih sepanjang drum telah diperolehi. Nilai bersesuaian menggunakan ejen haba dalam proses pengeringan kapas kering mentah didapati. Kaedah kajian berdasarkan tren moden dalam teori pengurusan dan pengenalpastian. Model matematik dibina dengan menggunakan kaedah analisis dan persamaan yang menerangkan ciri-ciri fizikal pada objek. Kaedah bagi membina model matematik selalunya bergantung pada kaedah eksperimen, khususnya, kaedah pecutan melengkung, dan hasilnya, penyataan penaakulan matematik menjadi tidak tepat. Model matematik yang digunakan adalah cukup bagi objek dinamik sebenar, dengan penerangan penuh dan perincian ke atas keseluruhan perubahan.
