Developing assessment instruments of debate practice in Indonesian Language learning
This study aims to develop an instrument for assessing debate practice in Indonesian Class X senior high school (Sekolah Menengah Atas or SMA/Madrasah Aliyah or MA) learning. The theoretical construct of the instrument was found after reviewing several theories, including speaking skills that apply to debate practice, especially those based on the Australian Debating Federation. The non-test instrument development procedure used is the Mardapi model, which includes non-cognitive. Ten material experts reviewed the draft instrument (two lecturers and eight Indonesian Language Teachers Class X in the SMA/MA in Yogyakarta Special Region) then it was calculated using the Aiken formula to prove the validity of the contents of the instrument. The draft instrument was also tested by two raters/evaluators to assess the debate practice. The results of this trial were used to calculate inter-rater reliability using Cohen Kappa. The assessment instrument was declared reliable from the calculation of the inter-rater reliability value of the Kappa formula, which was obtained at 0.678. The final item number of the instrument after the exploratory factor analysis is 33 items with adjustments to the composition of the dimensions of the statement items
High school students\u27 attitudes toward mathematics and its relation to mathematics learning achievement
Attitudes toward mathematics have been acknowledged among factors related to students\u27 mathematics learning achievement. The positive attitudes may decrease when the education level getting higher. This study applied a mixed-method approach to describe students\u27 attitudes toward mathematics and to analyze the correlation between attitudes toward mathematics and mathematics learning achievement among students in the coastal area of Aceh Province, specifically in Lhokseumawe City and North Aceh Regency. Total of 481 eleventh graders completed attitudes toward mathematics questionnaire online and 19 of them were involved in semi-structured interview. Data of mathematics learning achievement was obtained from students\u27 scores in their report card of the previous semester. Data analyses were conducted by using Spearman\u27s correlation and chi-square test. The results of the study revealed that attitudes toward mathematics have a weak negative correlation but significant with mathematics learning achievement. This shows that there is a small percentage of students who have low learning achievement in mathematics tend to have a positive attitude towards mathematics in the high category, while students with high achievement on the contrary. Based on the results of the study, we provide several suggestions regarding learning mathematics and the direction of further research

When students solved some problems on the worksheet, students were enthusiastic about understanding the instructions for operating the calculator, although some students still asked questions to the teacher. In another case, students looked confused when the results that appeared on their calculators were different from the results of their friends; most of the students just found out about other functions of the calculator buttons. Various challenges and potential use of calculators in mathematics enrichment learning were discussed
Analysis of the difficulty index of item bank according to cognitive aspects during the Covid-19 pandemic
The Covid-19 pandemic is a major challenge for the education system. The face-to-face learning process shifted to online learning, including the school exams. In Aceh province, the school exams have changed from paper-based and computer-based. This research aims to analyze the difficulty index of an item bank based on cognitive aspects of Bloom\u27s Taxonomy. The study samples included 850 students. The data were the item bank of a final semester exam consisting of 200 multiple-choice items, answer keys, and students\u27 answer sheets. The empirical analysis of the item bank using classical test theory (CTT) found that 141 out of 200 items are valid based on content validity and computing data set using the Aiken\u27s V formula. Item tests have reliability of 0.983. The reliability is calculated using the Kuder-Richardson 21 formula. If the reliability coefficient is r11 ‰¥ 0.70, then the item is declared reliable. In addition, 62 out of 141 (43.97%) items from the item bank are classified with a moderate difficulty index, and 79 items (56.03%) are categorized with a high difficulty index. The cognitive aspects found in the items are remembering, understanding, applying, and analyzing. Students mostly found items with the cognitive aspects of remembering and understanding are difficult to solve
