Previous studies on the use of GeoGebra in mathematics learning were more focused on implementation and effectiveness in learning outcomes. However, not many studies focus on providing opportunities to students to explore GeoGebra to find concepts in plane geometry through developing an application. Therefore, this research and development applied a 4D model to produce a web-based worksheet using project-based learning (PjBL) assisted by GeoGebra that was valid, practical, and effective in the plane geometry course. The web-based worksheet intended to facilitate students to be independent, creative, and able to find the concepts in the plane geometry course through exploration activities using GeoGebra. The results of the data analysis revealed that this research and development produced a web-based worksheet using PjBL assisted by GeoGebra that was valid, practical, and effective. The validity of the web-based student worksheet was shown from the validation results explaining that the worksheet was good in terms of content, construction, and language. The practicality of the worksheet was shown from the results of practitioner assessments and student questionnaires, showing that the web-based worksheet was easy to use and attractive. The effectiveness of the worksheet was shown from the formative assessment results with the interpretation that the use of the web-based worksheet could help students understand the content of plane geometry well

    No full text
Semiotics are signs that include codes, symbols, words, icons, objects, or gestures. This descriptive-qualitative study aimed to describe the semiotics of mathematics problem-solving in Mason\u27s generalization. Generalization is a finding pattern process in which students will use the different strategies with some semiotics. The subjects were three of 30 eleventh graders from a senior high school in Gresik Regency, Indonesia, that were selected using the purposive sampling technique. Data was collected through documentation, written test, and interview. Data was analyzed by reducing data, presenting data, and concluding. The results of this study showed that students could present the semiotics of gesture, word, and symbols in the process of Mason\u27s generalization, even though in several stages or indicators the students could not present semiotics. The absence of semiotics in several stages or indicators was not because students could not do such things, but because students passed or skipped these stages. In the perception of generality stage, the semiotics of gesture, word, and symbols could emerge simultaneously. However, for expression of generality, symbolic expression of generality, and manipulation of generality stage, students did not present the three semiotics\u27 components simultaneously

Media representation of female gender roles in advertising are relentlessly contested themes in a traditional society. Stereotypical representation not only limits the socially accepted traditional roles of gender, but also has an impact on how people perceive women. This study has focused on how women characters are constructed in order to understand reflection of stereotypical gender norms in Bangladeshi television commercials. Stuart Hall\u27s representation theory has adapted as the framework for conceptualizing the context of this study and scrutinizing the data. Using qualitative and quantitative methods, this paper has explored how such representations constitute unequal gender identities, traditional norms and perpetuate subtle forms of colorism towards women. This study found that dominant patriarchal ideology is deeply embedded in television commercials of Bangladesh; there is a discrimination towards the construction of women\u27s image. Moreover, such media representations generate the ideology of beauty in a negative way and push the concept of colorism towards women

Social media has been identified as a factor in adolescents\u27 adoption of risky sexual behavior. This research is here to answer whether social media has a vertical effect on adopting risky sexual behavior, given the increasing number of influencers on the platform. We sought the connection of whether influencers can influence the dating standards of adolescents, which will end up contributing to the adoption of risky sexual behavior. As risky sexual behavior is becoming more prevalent in Makassar, we picked Makassar adolescents as our study object. We also compared urban and rural by including Maros adolescents. Data were collected data with an online survey. Four surveyors are employed to find targeted respondents: youth in their 15-18 years old. Respondents filled out an online questionnaire from September 7, 2020, to September 14, 2020. As many as 313 responses were valid, 50.5 percent of the respondents were domiciled in Makassar, and the remaining 49.5 percent came from Maros. Two out of three respondents are women (63.3 percent). A series of independent t-tests, and Andy F Hayes PROCESS scheme, were used to analyze the data. The independent t-test results showed that male urban adolescents are more likely to exhibit risky sexual behavior. The central hypothesis test results showed that social media influencers indirectly affect risky sexual behavior mediated by adolescent dating styles, answering the study\u27s initial assumption

Working from home (WFH) is a new thing for Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) which has the most extensive office distribution among vertical agencies of Indonesian government, surely has its own challenges in implementing WFH during Covid-19 pandemic. Such as the Singkawang Tax Office which has 86% non-homebase employees that appear to have different meaning about WFH which can affect their public service. This phenomenology study wants to examine the meaning of WFH based on the experience of DGT non- homebase employees along with their various conditions and backgrounds. Six employees were deeply interviewed by purposive sampling technique. The research findings showed that WFH was defined as new step in carrying out the government bureaucracy and public service. The different meanings of WFH were not only influenced by the location of office but also by the differences of cultural background, age, educational background, and position; that affected their performance in carrying out government bureaucracy and undergoing tasks related to public service. The reward and punishment rules for employees discipline during WFH was defined as organization\u27s response to maintain all organization performances. These findings raise implications for public service organizations running WFH during covid-19

Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2018 report revealed that in mathematics the ability of Indonesian students to solve mathematical problems is still very low. The Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) strengthened the PISA report by mentioning that in general, Indonesian students\u27 ability in solving fraction problems is low. In this study, We tried to improve students\u27 ability in solving fractions by using computational thinking assisted by an authentic learning approach. A system was utilized to help the students in learning fractions. Totally twenty-two fifth-grade students were assigned in this study. While they learned fractions using the system, they needed to capture an object around them to make a representation of the fraction problem. Moreover, by using the system, they also need to find the best and fastest way to solve a fraction problem. The result showed that their learning achievements improved especially in fraction representation, fraction operation, linguistics, and creativity. And multiple regression results showed that students\u27 activity can predict the students\u27 learning achievement. The more active the learn fraction using the system, the higher score they get. In the final, the result of this study contributes essential implications along with a conclusion and suggestion for future research
